Personally i would do away with the constructors championship, everyone has the same car and they battle it out that way.
Why not issue the cars on a rotational basis? We would still have the Constructors Championship and the Drivers' Championship, and they'd be a more accurate measure than the one we have now. We'd see just how good a car was in the hands of less experienced drivers, and see how the betre drivers cope when they are in under-powered etc cars.

Too many conflicts with drivers sponsors, nice idea though...i've always thought it would be good to have one event after the end of the season which was more of a fun race/exhibition where you could mix things up a little or even put them all in karts!

There was a big charity kart event held regularly in France where all the top drivers from racing and rallying used to get along and do battle without corporate shackles .. Over the years Prost, Senna, Herbert , De Cesaris, Schumacher M, DC , Colin McCrae, Kankunnen, Raikkonen, Hill, etc etc Sort of an indoor Race of Champions ..
Made for some interesting racing from what I saw on terrestrial TV (ie not much, but Motoring Snooze used to print reports / pics
Thank you You Tube !

| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 7/27/2009 2:05:25 PM | So, Massa's injuries are no longer life threatening... Career threatening still though... Dr's apparently fear for his left eye...
As previous posters have said, sometimes motor racing is just dangerous...
I wish him a speedy recovery..

Epic, thanks!
I do hope Massa is ok, would be sad to lose him. I was really pleased to see Lewis get a victory, been a tough year for him and it's great to have a bit of a shake-up to the usual order of events this season!

| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 10/18/2009 11:45:30 AM | well done jenson glad you and brawn won. nice to have a british team win. great race to watch and couldnt belive how much happened in the first few laps. did feel sorry for reubens but he didnt push hard enough when he had the chance and think his strop in the middle of the season didnt help his cause.
good to see hamilton have a good drive today and sure maclaren will be back up there next season.
overall it wasnt a bad season shame sundays wont be the same

| CONGRATULATIONS JENSON Posted: 10/18/2009 11:54:32 AM | Well done JB - after all he has put up with over the last few years with recalcitrant Hondas, and the like, its nice to see such a smooth driver and nice guy win the title .
Sundays will still be OK for the next few weeks - dont forget Moto GP ...

| CONGRATULATIONS JENSON Posted: 10/19/2009 12:31:24 AM | I think Jenson did well to fall over the line and win the World Championship but I think unlike Hamilton last year few are saying he is the best and even in the second half of the season was second best to his team mate. I think Sebastian was more deserving but Button won the points and performed brilliantly when everything was going well for him. Button needs to improve on this performance next season if he is going to be considered a great driver. The fact he hasn't even nailed down a drive yet says everything. | |

| CONGRATULATIONS JENSON Posted: 10/19/2009 1:03:37 AM | Congrats to Jason Button!
Always good to see an Englishman doing so well!

| CONGRATULATIONS JENSON Posted: 10/19/2009 4:25:14 AM | YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY
Irrespective of how he got there, and all Formula 1 fans have their opinions, been a big Button fan since he started racing, and so so happy he won it. Some of the races have been dullas dishwater (almost as bad as watching footie), but last years hearoes - Massa, Kubica and Hamilton - were positively routed by this years players, Barrichello, Button and of course, the outstanding Vettel. Even Webber had a shout!
While this season conclusively proved, it ain't the driver, the car's the star - Raikonnen and Hamilton left floundering - and there are few true geniuses such as Schmumacher - am so so happy Button got it!
Also, once again, proves Formula 1 is a big team effort, and without Ross Brawn heading up that team, I doubt they'd have done 1/2 as well....
Buy YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY for Button.

| CONGRATULATIONS JENSON Posted: 10/19/2009 5:08:02 AM | Quite right, the car is always a most important part of the team, but what you will find is that the best drivers almost always gravitate into the best cars ultimately - its the way of all motorsport, not just F1

I think that Jensons only problem is trying to get the best out of a slightly underperforming car - as someone else said this weekend, if the car is spot on , he is devastatingly quick and smooth - Rubens didn't get a sniff in the first part of the season - but if the car is lacking a bit of grip or balance (as it was in the second half of the season) then he struggles to get round the issues, unlike Rubens or even Vettel, hence Rubens beat him frequently in the second half.
Strangely, when the car is really bad ( as it was in 07 and 08 ) he out performs the car by miles (even won in 07 in the Honda, I think, in the rain) and trounced Rubens all season
