I have found it's an attempt to hang on to the coattails of what you once had, when you know it would never work out. Usually the woman's decision to remain friends because they don't want to lose that nice guy, but don't want the relationship any more.
I have never been friends with any of my ex's and never will be. You have emotions invested in them, best to let the feelings die then and there. No point having dinner with someone you once made love to, knowing they have someone else in their life now and vise-versa. | |

However you need to realize that come sooner or later that woman will find another man who will fill your position.
And seriously, what man or woman would want to go see a movie with you or have dinner, when they have a partner they could go with. You always sit on the back burner, whether they have kids or not.
Let someone else fill the 'daddy' shoes is what I've found works best... | |

Girl let's you go... has no nerve to say goodbye...just be friends.
How many of you guys ever been friends with someone you dated. "Friends" is formalitty to, rudely becoming "aquaintances." THen... you never see them again.
Your dumped..you are on halt or gone... it's up to you to figure out which one you want to be?
Gone...you go on..they sound almost the same when you speak them.
Halt... you become on hold until you decide to stop. Then go to Gone... until she comes back?
