I feel for those people whose agreements are older than a few years. Most lawyers now include a clause in the child custody, access and support agreement that stipulates an annual review of the child support amount and the responsibilities of both parties are clearly spelled out. All that is required to do it is the disclosure of income by both parties (CRA assessment for the prior year) and an agreement in our case to also provide the T2's for our corporations (we are both self-employed) and an understanding of what are deemed to be "eligible business expenses" to remove things like car, business use of home and the like (for obvious reasons....lol) from expenses when calculating income. If financial hardship besets either one of us, we agreed to revise upon request of the other party the monthly amount. So far it has worked well. The courts will review the amount and make reductions when they can deem that the financial hardship is valid and not an attempt to intentionally underemploy to avoid paying child support. Having not lived it, I don't know how well they are doing that job.

why dont you try working all year. You say your off 6 months out of the year. You have a child so you need to grow up and not work as if your still in HighSchool. And also why dont you stop smoking crack with your girlfriend and send that money to your son.

why dont you try working all year. You say your off 6 months out of the year. You have a child so you need to grow up and not work as if your still in HighSchool. Great comment and I agree fully.I also say the same about mothers but it does get a little hotter when you make that comment. We had one mother who took cues from her baby about when she was working too much. So she worked less, survived on less...and cried for all the cs she could get.
