I know this is like a few pages back, but LOVEABLELADYWANTED u wrote
I have spoken to enough men at work ,at parties ,acquaintices , clerks in stores and most men feel tattoos on a women are trashy and low class. Women that get tattoos would like to believe otherwise but its not the case . Its called deluding yourself. I know that most people in tattoo threads are pro but that is because its a tattoo room. I would bet any amount of money that if you take a random poll of men say at a mall , that at least 80 percent would think tattoos on women are disgusting . I actually think its more like 90 percent but I would bet for sure on 80 percent.
No offense to you or anyone who holds your opinions, I am a heavily tattooed female and most people wouldn't call me trashy or low class, it's all about perception those same men that you talked to probably have had bad experiences with the tattooed
culture, i'm not deluded i did what i wanted to do, and also if you took a random poll that would mean that someone could "randomly" suggest Sawah Suicide, or Luci, or anyone of the suicide girls and i bet your percentage would be way off, thanks for putting in your opinion, it's always nice to see what lies on the other side of the fence!

this is a very good question, i love tattoos i lo9ve the art, i love the style and car related to the dedication and money some people spent on them, but i think the real question is when is enough enough? i think certain tattoos fit certain people better than others, myself peosonaly i love femals with tattoos but in saying that i feel alot of females get the wrong tatts for there persoanlity, i dont like small tattoos scattered all over the body and would love to meat a girl with a sleeve or even half sleeve that would be nice.

I have two on my back, one is a symbol for courage, the other is a butterfly to represent my free spirit...I plan to get more one being a sleeve of roses and a vine connecting them...all my tats I plan to get all represent me in one way or another. The symbol I have is one of the three core values of the Navy, which I spent four years of my life in....I do plan to get the other two symbols, whenever my friend has time to finish them. I get mine for free since my best friend and her husband own the shop I go to...Every man I have dated has said that I would look good with a sleeve. The roses represent my kids and the vine with thorns is to represent how they are connected and the thorns are the bad things in my past.

Its a personal prefrence...I personally feel if you dont like it...DONT LOOK!

I love tattoos. Have 4 of them myself. Got my first one at 42. I want more. Was warned that they are addictive. Love them on guys as well but haven't met anyone with them yet.

As long as it is a tasteful tattoo. I've seen some beautiful work and some not so great work. As for a "turn on or turn off". I would care either way. It's not the body art that would mkae a difference in what I thought of a person's character and that is what I find stimulating.

a Few of the Guys/Gentlemen/fishies i have dated did Not like my (ONE) tattoo, a couple liked it, and one said he didnt care either way... the last person who asked me out, i told him right away 'i have one tattoo, is that a deal-breaker?' (i wanted to hear where his head was about it before i said yes to a date..) he himself had 5 tats, and all he wanted to know is WHERE on my body is it? interesting.... i will have to ask him 'Why'

i have 50+ hours of ink on me, including a full sleeve and a full backpiece, all done by the finest artists in my corner of the world, most of whom are BFA/MFA holders.

judging by the many, many pages of admiring messages in my inbox here, the lads don't seem to mind them too much.

as for trashy and low class... i myself have a university degree in social sciences, have a management position at a marketing firm, and can talk Tchaikovsky, Kandinsky and foie gras with the best of them.

Stereotypes can kiss my hiney.

Oh also... they are a MARVELOUS filter. Generally, the types of guys who are not into tattoos wouldn't be into me anyway. The average Budweiser-swillin' Maxim readin' NFL watchin' SUV buyin' chucklehead just doesn't do it for me, and if I don't do it for them, hey, one-all, baby.

Excellent post the aurora! I agree that as a heavily tattooed person it is a great filter.I have about 30 hrs work thus far and I am college educated and well spoken and not trashy at all. I like any stereotyping. They say you can see how open someone is by the way that they look at your tattoos. So true! I personally don't care if someone has tattoos or not. It seems like the non tattooed shouldn't care either but that is not the case. I say to each his own.

Aurora, I completely agree with this part. It works as a filter, especially online because I have pics of my tattoos up. I love, absolutely *love*, musicans, men who write music or poetry, play guitar, sing, draw, etc. and am definitely not attracted to "yuppies". The former usually has at least one tattoo and plans to get more, and the latter is too busy worrying about whether his boss on Wall Street would fire him if he had one. Ugh, definitely not into the suit and tie guy, give me a man with ink and jeans and a blue collar job any day of the week.

That's such a ridiculous generalization. I'm an artist and I also like writing poetry but I have no tattoos and I'm not that fond of them. Everyone is different with different interests no matter what walk of life they're in. That sounds like something a high school kid would say.

I have several tatt's and I'm not here to impress anyone. So, it's really about who you are as an individual. So many women (*esp) feel the need to restrain themselves from things they wanna do because of what society accepts or rejects. To me, my body art is a expression of who I am and if it's too much for you, then good, much better for the process of eliminating who I don't need in my life. I hate to make this personal, but, I'm just saying...express yourself

LOL, perhaps you ought to learn to read? I said "usually". Point out where I said every single artist on Earth has a tattoo.

Oh, you can't.

"Usually" is still a very huge generalization and my statement wasn't so "obvious" to you since you were stating that certain "types" of people do certain things. Your insulting and angry response obviously means that you know I made a valid point.

Um... yeah ok. I don't do the "angry on the internet" thing, sorry. I didn't insult you. You just don't understand the concept of the word "usually" versus "always".

Like I said, I don't do the arguing on the net thing, so since I've defended my post once and now stupidly twice, I won't do it again. Feel free to go ahead and carry on with it though (i have a feeling you will). Happy Turkey Day :)

I have two tattoo's one on my lower back and an anchor on my ankle.
In my experience the people who often bash body art the most are those who are too afraid to get anything done.
I know plenty of people who wish they were as gutsy as to show who they really are in a permanent form on their body and are not, so therefore like to call it "trashy" or "Deluded". Tattoo's are an expression of who somebody is as a person and sometimes what their lives have been like.
I also don't believe that it is anybodies business to judge the kind of person somebody based on the fact they have a tattoo...that's rediculous!! Would you turn away somebody with a mole on their back or a disfiguring scar? 9 times out of ten no you wouldn't. I dont understand why it would be a turn off if its a discreet tattoo with meaning behind it.
By the way, i have two tattoo's and im in university doing a law degree.
Sorry it's not just trashy uneducated biker chicks who get them its also lawyers and doctors etc..

I have two tattoos, both on my neck area and both mean something to me. The writing one me and my best friend got the same one done together and it means soul friend, and my hearts is the cancer race for life logo in memory of my mum.

Personally I find tattoos interesting especially if they have a story behind them. I think with everything though it comes down to personal preference whether you like them or not, but having a tattoo doesnt take anything away from what kind of person you are! :)
