What's wrong with disinterested users disabling it in mail prefs or having it set so- as default?
Surely, Adobe Flash has other ways of being used on the site unless it will need payment by POF ?
Even then- with a payment option it would be self funding! | |

In my other post, I stated that even the help section still has FAQs about IM. If Markus is all about how he's the only one maintaining the site, I suggest he get some help. If he's going to take away IM, he should have done it truthfully and properly. Send a message to all members of the change BEFORE shutting IM off. Remove all mentions of "free instant messenger service". It's misleading and an outright lie. I volunteer to help work the site if it's too much for him to fix inaccuracies. | |

After reading all the information I have to say it is not as easy to just turn the IM's back on as the vendor (Not POF) discontinued this.
I like many others here enjoyed the IM feature but like myself creating an new platform for chat and setting capabilities is not always as easy as it sounds.
This site is FREE and we have to be thankfull that it even exists as alot of "volunteer" time goes into keeping this site functional. I have had a few very nice conversations with people on IM and still continue to talk with them through other venues. It was a great tool to be able to screen and get to know people further without having to give out other information until you felt comfortable. Myself I would love to see this feature incorporated again, but if it doesn't return I still want to thank everyone involved with making this site available for all the time to keep it going!!!! | |

It has reduced the quality of my experience. Clearly I'm not alone and I believe this will have a negative impact on the number of users. | |

All in all -it does seem a strange decision to make of a successful function on a good site- with millions of users- the ad revenue must surely be worth the hassle of setting up an in house replacement to IM.
In the last resort if it is a licence issue due to paying guests then so be it- at least people have the choice to buy in.
Finger trouble with being leapt on till you disable IM - Well, indeedy- That's hardly heavy work, girls!
In the final analysis -it's the punters who made this site work for the enterprising owner ! | |

Aim | Yahoo | Skype | GoogleTalk.....etc. All of those are better than the haphazard system
that was in place here.
Or....send a message ....they're free.

Have you noticed some users who have purchased that plan, it says IM user under their profile pic.. Whats going on is that they are trying to ease us into a Pay IM chat here on POF via Serious Members plan. I think that those with the Gold Star plan can initiate first contact with non Gold Star plan members, but dont quote me on that, All I know is that is the end of out free IM chat on POF which is supposed to be a fee dating &chat sight...Go Figure????.. | |
