| IM suggestion Posted: 6/24/2009 7:30:10 PM | I am big into open source applications. As such I posted a question searching for a way to bring instant messaging back. Here is a response I received:

here is an idea---present it to Captain Hook and perhaps he will like it.

| Instant Messenger Has Been Discontinued By The 3rd party Vendor Posted: 7/12/2009 11:41:02 PM | I would like to see you bring back the IM feature, however you may. It's very useful and keeps interest up-keeps us onsite, while we choose members to chat with, and keeps us from straying to other sites that have IM. I prefer this site to all the others I've been to, and I've tested out many. I would hate to have to go to some other site, just to IM with someone I see on this site, especially if I have to set up another account with some other site, just to do it! I'm just sayin'.
Respectfully, appreciatively, and loyally yours.

| IM turns me off. Posted: 7/17/2009 12:29:05 PM | The traffic on here increased when a class action suit was filed against Match.com claiming they were misleading new people into joining by saying that they had many users when in fact, they were ;eaving up profiles of predominantly men to bring in more women even though they were not on any longer.
Those unhappy people moved here. This all happened at the same time as the IM chat was removed. That's all it was. Not because IM was removed..not hard to figure out if you read the news more. SPREAD THE WORD SO THE CEO LISTENS.
You could turn it off if it annpyed you, but the help is poor here and reading through 50 pages or more of forum posts to figure out what is wrong is too time consuming.

Hmmm
Well, I feel like an addict who has cut off.. I hadnt realized how much I had invsted and how dependent I had become to the IM in this site to initiating contact.
I have been actually suffering withdrawl... I now log on to this site out of habit, but the rush is gone... I have not been able to start a single correspondence since IM was removed, despite my futile attempts at email initiations..
Well, the pof withdrawl has passed, and I tried an alternative... I actually went out to a singles bar... and summoned up some resolve and talked with more women in one night than in the past month on this site.. (of course, that wasn't many.. and it certianly wasnt free... the bar tab could have provided a few months on a Pay Site ) Funny, because I turned to on line dating a couple of years ago as an alternative to the mounting frustrations with the bar scene.
I do much better out than in here, also, because of my age, I suppose. I looke better in person than in pictures.
The tagline for my profile on POF was a simple question.. "Is this (PoF) really better than the Bars" well, without IM, the answer , sadly, is not any more!!

| Instant Messenger Has Been Discontinued By The 3rd party Vendor Posted: 8/3/2009 2:58:20 PM | Last trace of "IM":
There is a line, "Last 10 people to check their mail, in your state. IM User= Instant Message a user online right now.", on the top of photos after I've clicked the link, "My Matches".
Maybe Admin would like to remove that since IM has been discontinued.

| Instant Messenger Has Been Discontinued By The 3rd party Vendor Posted: 8/31/2009 9:06:59 PM | | What I don't understand is why the powers that be at POF have not removed all evidence of the instant messenger...I get emails from women asking me if I want to chat and then I answer them and I don't hear from them again...I think they expected a real time conversation, not an exchange of emails. | |

The mods don't have access to the entire site just the forums, as such, they can't edit text on any reference other than forum posts.
Corrections to the rest of the site are up to Admin and whoever else is programming. YMMV.
