Looks like Markus isn't losing any Einsteins. So why don't you just go away instead of making yourselves look like fools with your rants and tantrums?
Why do you care? You seem to be ranting and raving to everyone else with an opinion that doesn't match yours? Why is this? Maybe because NOBODY was interested in IM'ing you? You seem like a conservative, whiney, force my opinion down your throat dictator anyway!
The way polls work is that for everyone who takes their precious time to state an opinion, there are probably another 20 dissatisfied customers who'll never bother to 'rant' as you put it.
You say we don't matter? Maybe you're right. But what do you think would happen if we all just went away? How many advertisers would be rushing to buy ad space where traffic doesn't exist?
Hey, if Marcus believes that he's losing money because of IM, then maybe he could sell ad space directly on the IM program itself? I'm sure there are 100 different ways to skim some cash out of this site. And remember, it's always more difficult to take something away that used to be free than to never have offered it before. It's one great thing that made this site awesome and it's a shame to see it go away, in MY opinion.
Personally, I'd LOVE to see a poll taken (where you can only vote once) on whether you'd like to see the IM reinstated.
For now PAClassyLady, you seem to be in the minority. But thank you SO much for calling *everybody else* CHILDREN & FOOLS. Soooo Classy! | |

Ok...so...let me get this straight. First off...it was disabled because Markus said it was being "discontinued", which has been proven false if you just walk your little mouse over to www.userplane.com and check it out

Clearly you can't read the other posts I based my proof off of, since A) another poster who uses UserPlane on their website was concerned and contacted the company to make sure they weren't losing their service, and B)I also wrote an email to userplane asking why they were discontinuing. It's an ad-space thing people. if Markus removes those retarded 3rd grade Track & Field participation buttons from people's profiles, and allows AOL and userplane to have their ad-space back, instead of change mongering his users, his bottom line may suffer slightly, but in the end, he would still be making money. If you must have the little "Gold Star" by your name, for achievement, then maybe it could go elsewhere, like in the bottom corner of your picture next to the POF caption that gets placed on each photo.
As far as the woman who is making comments about "FREEDOM IM'S, FREEDOM TOAST, FREEDOM FRIES, etc..." I am a member of the Armed Forces, and honestly I find that post somewhat insulting. Now all of a sudden you take this from an issue of this site becoming less appealing because of false advertising, and turn it into something about Patriotism? Who the **** are you to speak of things like that? If you are from America, have you served your country? Because if not, you have no right to speak about Patriotism like that...Oh wait, yeah, you do, because I fight for your right to have those freedoms. why dont POF tell us why the IM dont work--they just discontinue it and never say why
If you read the posts on the pages prior to this, you will see that the Admin, Markus, is trying to tell everyone that the issue is with the company who owns the IM program. However, we that have done a little research, or in Utah's case have intimate knowledge with the program, know that this isn't the case. Take that as you will. | |

i am also using userplane for the IM feture and have since had no notice of discontinuation
ive questioned aol regarding this and have not recieved an answer however i would think if they did plan to discontinue userplane i would have had some sort of warning by now
the revenue i earn from my 3 very small websites is more then enough to take care of all the fetures my sites have and then some
my only comment on this issue would be a site of this size with this many members and the vast amount of advertising you see on it SHOULD be free as the revenue brought in from this site alone would sufficiently pay a few wages
if it isnt someones doing something wrong here and maybe i should apply for a job | |

I'm just getting the biggest laugh about the way people are letting their post history show how nasty, petty, selfish and ungrateful they are. Sure, forums are the place for your opinions, but they are public. Everyone can see your terrible behavior. And the fact that so many people didn't even bother to read the subject line when it was pointed out numerous times shows how much people really pay attention to previous posts. They see what they want. I stand by my criticisms. Little credence to dim bulbs.
Oh Brad, you demon, I think it's very sweet of you to devote your whole useless post to li'l ole MOI! Methinks a schoolyard crush is dawning... But au contraire, I was IMed endlessly. This was after putting in the first paragraph of my profile, bold letters, "Email me before you IM me." It didn't help so I turned it off.
Whoever said this was a poll? Petition, whatever, Markus said he is NOT bringing back IMs (post 90, if you care to read) so this is all moot anyway. Minority or not, this is not a Democracy. I'm not telling anyone how to think, I'm asking people to READ what's posted and act like adults. Many people offered a differing opinion in a polite manner and I never brought them up. It's the people who are rude and nasty that I take to task. There is no call for behavior like that. If a gracious host offers you a hamburger, you do not demand steak and call him names and say "I'm gonna go somewhere else that gives me free steak!"
And before you call me bitter, no prospects, whatever, let me say this: Thank you Markus! I met the man I am going to marry right here on your site. He took the time to email me until I was comfortable enough to give him my YIM and now it's all "happily ever after" from here. *swoon* If you would have taken the time to look at my profile, Brad, you would have seen "not single/not looking" and my declaration of love. You also would have seen that I have a few friends on here: fave lists aren't all strangers trying to impress you.
No wonder your ex's marry the next guy. After seeing your behavior in here I think I can safely say they are attracted to the first guy they see who isn't misogynistic.

(post 105) Pay attention, sweetie. Otherwise you were very nice in asking. Maybe if everyone would have been that nice Markus would have considered it. But again, moot.
Get a life? I got one, and it's very good. I don't count on freebies to keep my social life alive.

^^^^^^^^ I agree with above statement, plus many members forecasted this would happen right after the SERIOUS MEMBER badge was created.
I also can agree that since we do not pay a penny , we do not have a right to complain.
I don't complain, but just want to state IM is a nice feature and I made many good and long lasting friends thanks to it.

When you think of the money that has been made off P.O.F. we do have the right to complain. Sure we haven't paid for anything, but we have made a millionaire, an ungrateful millionaire at that. Calling the people who helped you pay for everything you have idiots, then lying about Userplane being shut down. I'm on several sites and every time there is an update they not only notify it's users, but they are honest about it as well. | |

One thing that caught my eye is that someone posted a really good remark on the Admin mistake in taking away the IM
I totally agree.
It may not have been the best Im in the world ie - AOL, but it was the one thing that drew many people caught

2. IM free.
3. meet people.
Now I have met alot of nice people on here and all thru IM
But i guess from many who are now on here, will disappear.

Posted: 4/16/2009 6:43:12 PM | I have had a great experience on POF and while the IM's helped so much with all the events I hosted and continue to host, it makes it rather difficult to not have the IM's anymore. Not to mention recently our local television station did a segment on POF as it being the ONLY TOTALLY FREE DATING WEBSITE. The tv. station was planning on attending one of the events I host and unfortunately, will now tell them to cancel the segment because it is no longer a TOTALLY FREE SITE. I will not be a part of FALSE ADVERTISMENT. (notice it still says FREE DATING on the POF main page)
Makes you wonder why as hosts we can't charge for our time, efforts, and expenses to make events as successful as they are. Guess all the money goes to Markus.. He fails to remember that if it was not for ALL OF US all over this world, he would not be sitting where he is today.
We can't complain because it WAS a free addition to the site but mark my words.. he is going to LOSE A LOT OF money when millions leave to go to other sites and TRUST ME in the US alone, there are 4 TOTALLY FREE SINGLES SITES where you can IM and do all the things you USED to be able to do on POF.
I did make some awesome friends on here. But after my upcoming event, I will move on to another site. I brought hundreds from Match, EHarmony, Singlesnet and many others over to POF and we are now all moving to the other FREE sites. Nobody should have to PAY to meet a mate. But I guess someone has to make the money huh?
