>We can spend all day on the road, not say a word to each other, but still feel connected.
>Built-in security system....won't fire up for anyone but me.
>I don't ride anyone else's....no one rides mine. It's a committed, exclusive relation ship.
>It's expensive, but well worth it. The rewards by far exceed the investments.
>If I want to go all day, or if I don't feel like doing anything at all....no complaints.
>Always ready for an adventure...five miles or five days.

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/23/2009 9:42:38 PM | | I think women all need to get motorcycles and maybe cars, like what the hell is it with all these women and their 75 mile shit anyway. Sick of reading profiles that say must live within 75 miles. Are they not aware of interstate highways? I live about a mile and half off I 80 and can be 150 miles from here in about 2 hours. | |

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/24/2009 6:25:42 AM | I own a motorcycle. I love the freedom of the ride and the attention I get because I am a woman rider. I play it up by wearing pink and owning a truly girlie bike. I started riding because I wanted to overcome an issue related to fear...summing it up into a fear of living. If you can overcome the initial fear of riding a motorcycle, walking into a strange resturant and eating alone is a snap. There is a whole subculture related to motorcycles from the 1% to the Christians, to the Harley snobs. It is a social life too. | |

to the Harley snobs.
Harley SNOBS??? We're not snobs! We're just brand-loyal American MC loving people! It's the Ducati riders who wear riding suits that are color-coordinated with their their bikes, and refer to our Harleys as "boat-anchors", that are snobs!
Just kidding...I'm not a snob...I'll ride with anyone, no matter which model of Harley you ride!

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/24/2009 2:02:09 PM | | They think the bike makes them look sexy. They want women to think they're exciting. Probably, NOT. Especially on those bikes with 'saddle bags'. Gimme a break. They want to recede into their long lost adolescence. However, between their ears, they never matured past it. I ignore any mans pic with him on a bike. They look ridiculous. | |

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/24/2009 3:36:41 PM | ^^^^ good points, Miss Eastendwoman. Saddlebags on a bike are useless, unless you actually ride somewhere other than to the local bar for "bike nite". Except for maybe, things like bringing the groceries home. I mean, the store-bought chopper is so much cooler, right? And if all you do is ride it to bike nite, then that 300 miles a year you put on it certainly will not wear it out!
As far as making us look exciting? Hardly. Ain't nothing exciting about a 62 year old fart who averages about ten to fifteen thousand miles a year on a HD. Why settle for such an unexciting guy, when you could have an accountant with a bow tie! Now, there is excitement!!
Adolescence? Receding? No, maybe we've just preserved a bit of it, brought it along with us, since we've been riding that long.
WHY in he77 does everyone think that us older guys on MCs just started riding yesterday, to impress the chicks?
Ever think that some of us have been doing it since we were old enough to reach the pegs, and we don't give a dang about whether it impresses you young chicks or not? It's us, it's what we do!

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/24/2009 4:13:25 PM | You know what gezzer-glide, eastendwomen is right. You need to get rid of your motorcycle and start dressing like and old man, get rid of that bull dog and get a small dog more suited to old men. As for me I need to stop working out as my upper body is somewhat powerful now. I will get rid of my Monte Carlo Z34 and replace it with a 4 door Buick Sedan and get myself one of those stupid looking hats old men wear. Then I'll get myself a pair of big framed glasses with just plain lenses (I dont' wear glasses now) so I can look like Richard in "Keeping up Appearances". My two 100 lb. + Bullies will go to the rescue and be replaced with a small old man's type dog. Really geezer glide who the hell do you and I think we are riding motorcycles and working out at our ages. We need to start acting like old men and maybe some of these crazy ass women will start to like us. | |

Well, Bro Pete, I might agree with ya, 'cept for a couple minor points. >I don't work out. The most exercise I get now is walking to the fridge, walking to the garage, walking the scoot back out of the garage...yeah, typical ol' fat man with a Harley. >No Monte Carlo here, just a Dodge truck...Snort needs a chicken ramp to get in. >your bullies...pitties, looks like. I've had four. My guy is just an 11 year old English Bulldog. Oversized at 85 pounds, but still has that bulldog mentality. Skeered o' nuthin', even at his age. When he goes, there will be no "little dog". >Glasses? Yes, I need them to read, close up. >Dressing like an old man? Been known to do that, in bib overalls...THAT kind of old man. >Acting like an old man? Oh, do that quite frequently.
The point of all this, and why it is not off-topic? Just to give the ladies an idea that some of us are for-real people, and part of our for-real life includes motorcycles! And dogs of the bullie breeds! And wild cars or big trucks. Hey, ladies, this ain't no new image we are trying to project! It's who we are, and have been forever and ever, amen!!

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/24/2009 4:57:51 PM | | I've noticed this as well. 80% of the men that message me have a bike. You know what... it's not impressive... maybe they are finally at the stage in their lives where they can now afford one. | |

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/24/2009 8:08:09 PM | mmm this has been a interesting thread! Do we ride to pick up women? maybe some do. I don't Do we ride because we think it looks cool? maybe some do . I don't Do we ride because women think we look sexy? maybe some do . I don't Do we ride to impress the women? maybe some do. I don't Do women tell us not to have them when we were younger? some do. mine did So why do I ride? that's easy ! after twenty some odd years of doing something for all the family , kids and wife that comes with a marriage, it was time for some "me time" so after becoming single it was something that I had longed to have back in my life. Something I gave up to have a family, they are their way and so I am I , just on two wheels | |

Eastendwoman - They think the bike makes them look sexy. They want women to think they're exciting. Probably, NOT. Especially on those bikes with 'saddle bags'. Gimme a break. They want to recede into their long lost adolescence. However, between their ears, they never matured past it. I ignore any mans pic with him on a bike. They look ridiculous. Everyones entitled to their opinions BUT, us biker's could say the same things about you ladies and those pictures of your cat, dog, kids, beer drinking, hang gliding, bungee jumping, etc. (Actually I have, in another thread...DOH!) My Harley is simply one of my many outlets for fun. Why do some of you put them down so much? They are undeniable a BIG part of the lives of many men and women. I have those saddle bags and they've come in real handy. A few weeks ago I was coming out of a restaurant and an attractive lady asked me if I had another helmet and she wasn't taking inventory....Glad I had one in there. It would be like me saying: what's with the ladies and the pictures of their dogs or cats? "THEY LOOK RIDICULOUS." Hey Fascino Italiano; looking good lady!!...except for that ball of fur in your arms... J/K

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/24/2009 9:25:07 PM | LOL
The motorcycles or the guys who ride them?
I vote for the latter.
If I was so in love with motorcycles, I'd have one of my own but I prefer the comfort and protection of a car.
Perhaps for some it is partly about the freedom represented with carrying little baggage literally and figuratively.

Ok a Vet or Porsche will do but if you really want the hot babes Get the bike. make sure it has tons crome.
Hm, I am the oldest 44 y/o man you will ever meet. Sitting on a bike just sounds painful. Do they have training wheels or something to make it easier?
spending another lonley night serching for free porn.

Hm... perhaps I just have a virus... cough... sniff sniff...

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/24/2009 9:50:31 PM | My first husband owned a motorcycle. Way back when I was a young thing, we would take weekend trips with another young married couple that we knew. Back then I thought nothing of jumping on the back of a bike in shorts and a halter top (it was the 70's after-all). Going down a highway or back road at speeds of 60 mph and a bug smacks into your thigh....OWIE! Then one day my hubby slid on some gravel in the road and we took a spill. Didn't suffer much except for a small amount of road rash, thankfully. But that was enough to scare me off the bike.
Flash forward 25 or so years to my last LTR. He had two motorcycles. And with just a little bit of coaxing, I got back on the bike again. I loved the freedom and the feeling of being out there in the open with nothing between me and nature......and I was also just a little bit scared of being out there in the open with nothing between me and say...oh the road.
I get it, I really do. I get the appeal of motorcycles. But I also am very aware of the dangers of riding one. And it really doesn't matter how safe you are as the operator of a motorcycle....it's the other vehicles you really have no control over. I think my riding on the back of a bike are over. I have the memories, and for me that's enough.

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/24/2009 10:05:38 PM | Like many of the men that have posted on here I have ridden bikes my entire adult life. I don't ride to try and impress anyone. For me the knees in the breeze is a great release of stress. Some people understand that and for those that don't it really can't be explained. If you have never experienced it I know you couldn't understand it. I ride with anyone that rides like they have some sense. I could care less if its a harley. If your one to drink and ride I will not ride with you period. And yes there is a social circle around bikes and bikers. I know most that I ride with support alot of charities on poker runs and bike events. Not all of us are outlaws, drug dealers or gun runners. I prefer to ride than drive. On one of my bikes I do have saddle bags and yes I do use them. If its just a run to the store to get a few things or a weekend trip. | |

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/27/2009 12:19:58 PM | Loved this girl's reply. I have a t-shirt that says"If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand".....very appropriate here. Answer me this one sweetie, why do girls like posting pictures of themselves with kids, cats or dogs? | |

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/27/2009 4:56:17 PM | | I don't have a clue. But I do wonder: why are so many out-of-shape considerably overweight men over 45 sitting on motorcycles when they could be pedaling bicycles? | |

| Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles? Posted: 10/27/2009 6:53:05 PM | I'll tell you why.
Men over 45 are lost. They have surrendered their lives to women that they have had nothing in common with since they were 20 years old. And even then they just wanted to live up to an ideal that was unrealistic. half or more of them are divorsed and maybe on their second attempt at realizing an objective that can not be obtained. So they buy a motorcycle because that will make them somebody that is outside the norm. It is the same reason they bought SUV's, it made them look like they were able to handle anything that came their way. What they forgot was that what made bike exciting was that exciting people rode bikes. Bikers are Bikers, motorcycle enthuiasts are motorcycle enthusiasts, but most of the over 45 crowd that ride bikes are people who are bouncing from here to there looking for a sence of identity. Worse than that they are wimps trying to look like real people with a sense of who they are. Probably making a living as salesmen.
