Posted: 6/2/2009 4:17:38 PM | Yeah I do sit in amazement when out with friends. You can scan around and most every woman has her head turned down texting all night and when they are not texting they are constantly checking their phones to see if they have messages.
I thought the idea was to have fun?
And let's not mention if you go over to talk you have to wait everytime they get a text.
If the roles were reversed I do believe someone would be quite put off.

Posted: 6/3/2009 10:03:29 AM | and this here mentioned is what sooooooooo many fail to see.. i mean when you finally make an observation looking around see'ing how many are now doing it then you see...
and everyone is on this " i must look busy/important" mentality failing to realize how much they are now addicted to there phone..
i briefly dated a female who actually used her phone to "twitter" on myspace ... yes myspace not twitter.com itself.. i kept telling her.. look ya know you text me way way too often chill out on the texting.. she would then text me once again and again and again... finally i let her stay over for a weekend... even while i was in another room i could hear her just punching away on her cell phone and all she was doing was gossip'ing with another female friend but still it got alittle irritating... later afterwards.. i brought it up during dinner asking her.. "hey why do you text so much? i mean you're not an IT exec like i am, you dont have any important bussiness meetings, no kids, why in hell do you text so much to someone you could simply call? she had no answer, no reason,, just replied back " i dont know, i just do" ... i ended the date ( yea 1st time i actually broke up with someone due to text addiction).. when i logged onto myspace i went to her comments page just curious to see how often she was "twitting" ... it was shocking to see a persons compulsive disorder in full swing.. and she was in denial about it..
her comments via mobile phone updated not by the hour.. but by the minute..
11:00- i went out..
11:05- i made it to my car
11:10- Im starting my car...lol
11:20=- im driving down the street ( YES SHE WAS TEXT'ing & DRIVING AT THE SAME TIME YIKES!!)
11:25- almost to my dates office to pick him up
11:30- wow dallasknight looks great in his suit today
11:35- dallasknight asked me to stop texting myspace while i drive
11:40- i stop texting my myspace comments page.. now im gonna text my best friend to ask her how do i send text's internationally to find out what the weather is like in tokyo...
and i am not exaggerating here.. this girl has it baaaaaad on texting...
soo many cell phone keypads are now dying because of the addiction.. many nokia's have fallen ill, many razors have drowned in text blast emails, please what ever you do.. if you know someone with this problem.. ask them to seek help.. INTERVENE if need be.. this can kill so many relationships and keypad buttons... | |

Posted: 6/6/2009 2:43:21 AM | I have no clue, none whatsoever, except to me, it's a perfectly good waste of time.
And to converse on a cell phone or text while in the company of others, especially a first date, well, that's just the epitome of RUDE. And yes, "beaufort", good for you for not putting up with it. Why would you?
Whether a man or a woman, this type behavior tells you upfront the person with the phone is not considerate of your feelings, and sends a clear signal the direction things will go from there.
I did a meet & greet once and the guy's adult daughter called him on the "date". Firstly, the phone should have been turned OFF. The daughter was obviously giving Dad hel*. Once the call ended, the phone rang again, this time the X.  I caught bits/pieces of the conversation  , and trust me, it was a whole lot of ridiculous BS. I excused myself and left. Blocked future emails and refused his calls.
Once there exists a relationship, then calls/text msgs., those things come in to play BETWEEN THOSE TWO PEOPLE. You'd think common sense would prevail, but clearly, it doesn't.
But no, I DON'T GET IT EITHER. | |

I have had women mention that they have small kids, and etc. So here is my response to a "friend" who sent an earlier text... just kidding. She sent it via email. I promised I would not add her content, because that would be disrespectful.
...... In those situations it works. But what I am referring to are women who would rather spend an ENTIRE DAY (seriously) texting you back and forth, when they could have taken the five minutes or so to just dial and speak. The number was right there and I understand if she is at work and to put a phone to her head would cause grief or problems. But there are breaks and then there are moments when off work she could call.
I have women texting me repeatedly as I type this email out to you. They would rather email and text than take a second and talk.
Just seems BACKASSWARDS if you ask me.
Cause the whole reason you swap numbers is so that you can TALK, not so that you can text.

this has never been a comparison... think you missed the point of this... NOT ATTACKING, just pointing out.
REcently I had someone I thought was interested in me at one time. And in the getting to know you process, we ended up having so many misunderstandings via email and text that I had to ask her to desist with both practices.
We live relatively close and yet, picking up a phone was hard for her cause she was at werk and I myself am even guilty in this scenario of texting her when I requested that we stop it.
SO FOR THOSE FEMALES FEELING PUT UPON.... THERE! .... I SAID IT! I do it to!
But the point is that females do it more and any men likely texting, from what I see and my own experience, are simply responding to their text when you see us driving down the road.
HECK! I have a drinking buddy who lives 1block away from me and if the phone rings and it is her number.... then she wants something. And has the decency to call to ask. OTHERWISE, it is strictly via text that I hear from her.
GUYS/LADIES... it is not romantic! And if you ever have wondered why you have problems relating to men/women... "HELLO! McFLy!!!!"

let me try to understand this... you bought a cell phone .. so you can text? because you hate making phone calls.....
( shakes heads) sorry ladies ... this makes no sense what so ever.. you are taking cell phones to a whole new meaning....you're actually buying them for instant messaging instead of placing a call..rofl...lol... so now whats gonna come down the line due to text addiction

Posted: 8/25/2009 6:12:18 PM | text'ing has been around for years and now since the phone companies recognize the addict they'll add plenty more of it in years to come.. remember when the cell phone was an actual cell phone?
i now question a persons' mentality now... if they text you a question which extends into conversations.. which the same conversation could be discussed over the phone shows some lack of trained thought.. seriously if you dont want to chat over the phone cause your exhausted or busy or what ever else.. you still have that much time to type it all out on a small keyboard instead.... see this is the problem it's meant for communication yes.. but also it breaks down communication big time..
all i can say is folks have some issue's and text-heads needs to chill.. you've started a war and now the anti-text movement has begun..
so ladies.. and gents.. keep it up.. i dare you to text while driving or in a school zone.. hit my car plzzzz... see what happens.. keep on text'ing and teaching kids how to sex-text and forward pics of yourself across the globe.. one day you will be sorry you decided to type.. instead of talk..
its now been several months since i dated that text head.. and still to this day she does not understand what went wrong and she wonders how come now no other guy she tries to "talk/text" with has no time for her anymore.. instead of email or a phone call. i simply text'd her the reason ... And DallasKnight has brought up a very good point about how our kids are now becoming addicted to it. As just a few months back my oldest child had received some text from a fellow student and friend. In some of those text the jokes were of an explicit nature. Several had used letters and numbers to draw sexual organs.
BECAUSE of this we have told the other childs parents and have restricted access to my childs cell phone use. Add to that we now make the oldest pay their own cell phone bill. So no money... no text or cell. But it was bad, they were getting text all hours of the night and eventually they stopped their friends and started turning off their own cell phones during home work hours and sleep hours.
So, for this one child it has been a growing and responsibility thing! But I am sure that phone carriers are working the next big idea in getting kids addicted to technology or what have you!
