Wow. This thread started kind of slowly and then just exploded with responses. Tats are part fad but seem to be a generational thing. The female teens and 20 somethings (or thirty somethings) that have them? When I see that I just think cheap, poor upbringing, lack of common sense to name a few. But maybe that the gererational difference that I just don't get

so lets say there is a guy that has a scar that is on his face; are you going to date him?
Yes I would. Again, you seem to think all people care about silly things like this.

In the case of a Tattoo on a guys face... Hmmm dating him might be one thing, having a long term relationship would possibly be another thing though..
While it might be cool to date a guy with a facial tat while you're young and have no responsibilities... what about when you decide you need more income than a job cooking for Burger King will provide...
Oddly enough, lot's of people who do hiring for companies DO care about 'silly things like this.'
A facial tattoo will prevent virtually any good paying jobs in offices, high-end sales, or jobs where you repesent the company or similar....
In other words, the best job he could get would be working in a factory....

I think tats on woman is sexy. I like to know woman have them. I don't just want to think it's just a guy thing. When i got my first tat I had many reserve about getting it but I pick something that has a meaning to me. It expresses something about me and who I am as a individual. Now I have 4 tats and want more.

"Her and millions of others regret there tats. No telling how many on this thread regret there's if the truth be known. I wouldn't be afraid to bet that if the truth be known a lot of the older folks that are either reading this thread ' But not participating in it regret there's right along with ones who are participating but there pride keeps them from saying so. The young 20/30 somethings who think it's cool' Well' One day will not think the same way. Ever year we get older we see things in a different light. One day they will' If they haven't already' But right now it's cool' The thing to do' It has special meaning to them. For a lot of them one day they will look back and think about it and realize that being permanently inked for the reason they chose was really no reason at all."

well lets see... i regret saying: "i do"... i regret not joining the military when i should have.... i regret not working hard to make a career out of my passion..... but so far i dont regret my tats....and if/when i ever do, they'll just be another (fairly minor) addition to a long list of major regrets in my life.... im sure there is nothing in your life that you regret Eddie and that you envisioned yourself on a dating site at this point in your life, however most of us imperfect folk will have made decisions throughout our lives that at some point later we may or may not regret.... bottom line is, that is life.... we make decisions and then we live with them.... to each his/her own....

Personally I don't care about one or 2 small aesthetically pleasant tattoos, but a woman body covered with tattoos is a big turn off.

I can not stop thinking about the trauma a tattoo like the one on poster 60 profile will do to her breastfeeding child ... :-) It sure scares me.

However, I think everybody has the right to paint their body as much as they want, as I have the right to think it looks horrible in most cases.

I'm with you on this one. I think a few are sexy, but come on, women are such beautiful creatures (body's). Why cover it up. Men on the other hand, when naked don't look as good as a women, therefore, men get tatoos. A naked women with tats is sexy, but if you cover yourself with tats I just think it's a little too manly.

generational? biker chick?...i am 52 & so not a liker chick...i have about 10 tats & ALL can be covered by just wearing a short sleeve shirt & slacks...why?...not because ia m ashamed of them but because i know that in some situations it is just not appropriate...don't stereo type & don't make assumptions....a motto that always works for me

I am not pro or anti tattoo.... if it makes you feel good and it doesnt hurt anyone its ok to do....although I do find it refreshing when I see a woman without one because I like a natural look on a woman without all the fake boobs and pop culture paraphenalia so common these days.

so, if having tattoos makes you "cool" and "open minded" and "nonconformist" then not having tattoos would make you the opposite??

I don't have any, and I don't think closed minded or conformist are 2 words most people would use to describe me. Sounds kinda like all the "open minded" people, well...aren't.

No, I am not jealous, and, I am certainly allowed to get a tattoo. I have just chosen not to. Somehow getting a butterfly across the small of my back or a rose on my ankle doesn't seem real rebellious or showing my individuality.

That is another thing I never understood about that argument. That it shows your individuality. Really? Seems kinda sad if the only thing that sets you apart from everyone else, that makes you an individual, is someone else's art.

And no, I have nothing against tattoos, I love a guy with great arms and an armband, but...i doubt it will be hot in 40 yrs. If you want tattoos, great, go for it. But, just because somebody doesn't like them, it doesn't mean they are judging you. It's a preference. That's all.

Not always generational mind you. Can just be plain cheap and lack of upbringing . You are not ashamed of then? Hey good for you. I won't stereo you or make assumptions I promise. In my world there's not situation where they're appropriate

Come the F on here lady??? Is it really a total mystery to you??? I mean, you can't possibly see why having 40 tattoos may be a problem with 98% of men you may have a shot at dating??

It's not "lady like" to bring a girl to say, a work function... with a sleeveless gown only to see 12 various tattoos. It's low-class and trampy. It's also a sign of psychological problems if one chooses to cover every square inch of his/her body with ink. It's unsightly, they fade and look worse with age too.

One or 2 are fine in discreet places... but over 3-4 and in obvious places is odd and looks bad. I'm sure many men share this opinion.

P.S.... I love it how you say men are "scared". I don't think they are toots, so much as they are embarrassed to bring the "tattooed lady" around in public.

For me it is not really a negative outlook, I just don't think that there is any tattoo can enhance the Beauty of a woman...instead of enhancing they detract from a womans beauty....they are interesting and in many cases have interesting stories behind them but in the end they fall short in their attempt at beautifying something that is already Perfect...

Seeing as people aren't born with tattoos, they are essentially making a statement. If someone doesn't appreciate that statement, that's not something to be held against them. Personally, I don't dislike tattoos on a woman, but if they aren't generally covered up by clothing, they do send a message to others that I'm not necessarily going to want to be part of. Secondly, who are the guys who would be scared to date a woman with lots of tattoos anyway? I find it hard to believe that these women want guys without tattoos of their own in the first place. I mean, there are plenty of women with something like a heart on their ankle who dig guys whose entire torsos are inked-up so I really find it hard to believe a woman whose into more comprehensive body art would be interested in a guy who wasn't himself covered in tattoos. Plus, some guys can't pull off the look. A tattoo would look really stupid on me just as I'd look ridiculous if I shaved my head. And that's because of how I was born, not because of something I deliberately did to myself. So anyway, people need to be tolerant in both directions.

This is just another personal preference thing - some will like 'em , some won't .

Some will like 'em and not like that you have forty - some won't care , or some may have more than you !

Some will be willing to at least meet you , and see if the personal chemistry works - some will be chicken and make a snap judgement .

Several years ago , I met someone who admitted when he met me , that he didn't like tattoos on women. I have two . Turns out we had amazing chemistry , all sorts of things in common , and lasted over three years together . Along the line, he told me he found MY tattoos to be a real turn on !

No rhyme or reason to this stuff - you're dealing with variable humans here !

Very much a personal preference thing! I myself think that if the tattoos are done artistically and professionally they can be very sexy! Really depends on the woman wearing them and the man involved! I would never make any kind of generalization to decide whether I like or am attracted to a gal that has tattoos or body art!

Count me in the "tattoos are graffiti" camp. I know there are some awesome women out there that have them - been friends with a few. Still, they look like a funky skin disease to me.

The fact that they can be covered doesn't change things. I'd rather see them on a girl's arms than anywhere else. For one, arms aren't sexy to me so it doesn't ruin any inherent sex appeal. Also, if the tattoos are so artistic and meaningful, they mind as well be where they can be seen.

And I think guys who pump iron and eat steroids until they have biceps as big as my a** are grotesque and un-natural looking. The only words that come to mind are "small" followed by penis and/or brain.
