I'm certainly not put off by it, and to me it would be a huge selling point.

Many girls are looking for someone who has more depth now, than just going out and getting hammered every so often.

If you notice profiles too there is an increasing amount of people who have
FED UP WITH PUB AND CLUB SCENE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING MORE

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You don't TRUST someone who doesn't drink?

What a ridiculous statement

Alcohol is a drug. A very powerful and very lethal drug with knock on effects which damage society.

People use it because they have no confidence without the effects it has on their brain.

So as you are a drug user you say you don't trust anyone who doesn't take drugs like you do? What a misguided set of values.

and yes now we will have all the delusional statements from people who have never seen themsleves drunk

ahh but i only take a drink coz i like it
i can handle it
i dont abuse it..........

If only you could see a video of yourselves and what you look like !

I gave up drinking after new years eve and i must admit i found it hard because i was drinking heavily for 3 years, i decided enough was enough because it wasn doing me any good and also it wasnt having the same effect on me as what it did when i first started drinking
The benefits are pretty obvious no more nasty hangovers, embarrassing behaviour when drunk or just downright reckless carry on
I started to go to the gym a few weeks after quitting to help me cope with the loss and that has carried me throught, I`ve swapped 1 addiction for another weight lifting now i did slip up in march and got pissed and i lost all the muscle i put on from those 3 months of training and that really annoyed me to see all my hard work wasted for the sake ofdrink, now i wouldnt even bother with drink anymore and concentrate on buliding my muscle
It may seem vain but at least i`m not harming my liver by drinking the huge amounts i used to drink and now i can see results from my work
when i was drinking i saw no results just a dodgy hangover, foul mood swings, getting myself into dangerous situations so i really feel the benefit of it
as for finding women i find it harder now to meet women now that im sober mainly because i rarely go out and if i did the temptation to drink would always be lingering around me but i can live being single

No, but I will be very put off if he starts preaching to me about the couple of Jacks I might have a month... and I do mean a couple.
There are many people who quit drinking or smoking and suddenly they are holier-than-thou... and they will put me off for sure.

I certainly wouldn't be put off by a guy that doesn't drink, Im just getting out from a marriage to an alcoholic - Meeting in a pub doesn't mean you have to have an alcoholic drink - I often go to pubs but only have lemonade - used to upset my ex off though! So a guy that doesn't drink would make a lovely change, would be nice if there were more of you!!!
Good luck in your search!

Yes, i would be put off rightly!

I enjoy a wee drink on a friday or saturday night, and whether i go out, have my mates around, or whatevers happening, i always have a few drinks, its my time after a busy week, and the kids are off at their Da's!

The last guy i was seeing was a non drinker, and i swear he used to melt my head when i had a drink.

He worked weekends, but hated me going out with friends.........and when he had a night off, he would want to spend it at home.

He would not socialise with my friends, and he even left one of my best friends wedding because i was drinking, and then wrecked my head the next day when i was critical with a hangover...........wtf?

I cant be doin with that shite, and im not going to change for anyone, you either take me as i am, or you can fook right off with yourself!

I do no harm when i have a drink, and i only drink once a week, when my kids are away..... so if a guy cant cope with that, then feck him!!

I am Irish after all!

Going by this thread, you'd think that all drinkers are alcoholics or get shitfaced everytime they drink. I admit I like a drink, I like to get a little tipsy, but I can't remember the last time I got really drunk - it was probably 30 years ago when I was in my 20s. I was never a big drinker but was not so good at knowing my limits when young! I'll have 3 drinks in a night, maybe 4 if it's a long night, or maybe a half bottle of wine with a meal. Maybe it's my age, but most non-drinkers I meet gave it up because they had a problem with it, and they don't tend to like other people having a drink around them. Well, I go to a pub once a month or less - usually after the cinema - and I wouldn't like to be denied that.

I don't Drink out of respect to the person Im hoping to find wonderful. A drunk wont care about ones self and knows how wrong they feel it is when I dont drink around them. I want to listen to my Girl and for her to have my full attention. Seeing her with opened eyes and not in a drunken stupper. She deserves someone who is true and not a slob.

Most people who drink want to cover the imbarrassments that is hidden in the dark places of their mind. Afraid to be truthful and find someone to have near them. Drinking places a wall between people and gives the drunk a excuse to be stupid and mean so they can have the drink to blame and not take ownership of their actions.

Where did you read this........cos im after re-reading this thread, and not anywhere did i see anyone mention getting in a stupper!
Because someone enjoys a drink, doesnt mean they like getting siht faced!

If you do remember them what they say to you really wont matter.

What are you on about ffs??

You like to forget.

Again......what are you on about??

You will know this that you are better than that and can be free from hiding from your feelings.Just be the strong person your are all ready and all will be well

Here they react the same way. If you don't drink, right away they think you must have a 'drinking' problem or think 'AA'. Not so. Some people can be wild uninhibited and have fun without needing a drug. Alcohol is poisonous to your system.. why do you think it causes you to throw up? Body rejecting it.

I have never understood what is attractive about peeing on yourself, throwing up or acting like an idiot? U really don't value your body, do you? EXPLAIN PLEASE. We can do that sober! A man or woman who is so insecure in themselves, so stupid and so depressed that his only outlet is getting drunk? Like he doesn't know from the last time that he can't stop at just one?! Same thing with chocolate. Alcohol is sugar, plain and simple!
Rather have a woman with some fat on her from overdoing on choc. than on alcohol anyday. Nobody flies into fits of rage or great destruction from chocolate. Don't know anyone who gets so wasted on sweets or chocolate that they eat constantly for 3-5 days (yes I went with a guy who was wasted the entire weekend, three days straight, on our vacation). Maybe we should sit in restaurants eating for the entire vacation and see how they would like it? He sat all day and night in the bars for three days straight, other than when he was sleeping. What a waste of life !
...but again, we have so many Irish people living here that this town is called "The Little Mayo". Really.

Can't use that being Irish as an excuse. I could say 'I'm German, so I can be a hateful mean **stard' . I'm also Slovak, so I could use that as an excuse 'Slovaks Czechs drink'. I never saw my grandma drunk, and she was German AND Slovak ! (ha ha) We had a teacher, Mrs Hennessy. who said 'excuses are lies wrapped up in tissue paper to make them look better'.

Need to unwind, try a sugar rush. Drinking affects EVERYONE around you, just like any other behavior affects others around you. We don't live in a bubble. Denial of this leads to feeling bad about yourself = depression = crap = more drinking. Work life is very tough. Deal with it in other ways. Then again, all the drinkers seem to keep their jobs while the overstressed can't handle it and quit. My father was Mr. critical who picked up every little thing on the lawn and carpet and went back and re-did any work we did, yet he didn't drink. I would rather have had this than a mean drunk more 'relaxed' father anyday.

As fas as doctors, yes they make quite a bit of money too and are quite successful and can afford much better than beer, 'the poor man's drink' according to the All in the Family Carrol O'Conner show episode. (Laughing) . People usually use alcohol to self-medicate or cover angry emotions.

Women and men: Respect yourself and you will respect others and it will be reflected in language (and ladylike) behavior. Profanity does not make a person appealing Amazing how not drinking clears your head

Don't give us that Puritan stuff either. Puritans were to the extreme. Talk about labeling people! This country existed before the Puritans came here, and they were English. Most of us here are only 3rd generation Americans. Our relatives came from Eastern Europe,l Europe, and other continents. There are very VERY few people in this country whose relatives came over on the Mayflower! People always go to extremes , why?

The Bible talks about alcohol, when used to EXCESS, as a demon, because of the effects it has on people. That is nothing to do with Puritans. The Puritans didn't invent the Bible or the map of how to conduct your life, so stop looking for excuses. Bad behavior is bad behavior, it has nothing to do with religion, just common sense. That's like saying Ireland is wild and pagan or all about St Patrick (What's that gotten ya so far? How's that workin' for ya, as Dr Phil said) (laughing).
