| | Not Fit.. Then not Wanted.Page 3 of 3 (1, 2, 3) | I am a larger guy but have always been physically fit and have an active job that gets the heart rate up and I thought I was in good shape but after taking in some exercise that I used todo easily I found it a real struggle and have subsequently gone on a diet and taking up regular exercise is the next step. I want to get back into rugby, used to play at County level, but right now I would be lucky to last a half and would get a mauling. | |

| Not Fit.. Then not Wanted. Posted: 4/30/2009 11:30:20 AM | | I didn't realise how out of shape I was until I gave up smoking a month and a half ago. At the same time, I joined a gym, started cycling and changed my eating habits, so the weight wouldn't pile on. I'd forgotten how good it felt to be fit. My first few times out on the bike was a real struggle but now I can pedal up and down hills for two hours at a time. It's amazing how quickly your energy and fitness levels will return. I've shed nearly a stone so far... got a few more to go. I will date only fit, muscular men so it's only fair my body's in shape too. | |

I find the gym boring and usually go for a while then rebel so going to do something that I find interesting rather than get bored on a treadmill

| Not Fit.. Then not Wanted. Posted: 4/30/2009 3:49:25 PM | lori you dont look your age- maybe testament to excersize! Im sorry the hours I do are enough for me- the job is too physical - I couldnt do more - Id be asleep as soon as i got home!
I just think yes its good to look after your bod as you might your car - or you pay for it dearly! BUT there seems to be a thin line between normal attitudes from 'nobody is perfect' to men getting plastic surgery etc- no wonder kids grow up with eating disorders - taught by the esteem problems of thier parents- 'mum says she cant wear blah blah blah because her bums too big' even if shes normal weight for height. She cant eat the icecream/cake/choc on odd occaision like the kids as its 'bad' and shes on a diet- permanently! We need to be a bit more 'Gok Wan' accept ourselves and others for who they are not what they are and the rest will follow naturally.
that and I did warn everyone that since on a downer my viewpoint maybe a bit 'off the wall'.

| Not Fit.. Then not Wanted. Posted: 5/1/2009 2:23:44 PM | | exercise gives you more energy and apologies for all the 'I do this and I do that' but if I didn't exercise during my lunchtimes at work I would be falling asleep on shift as I work 13 hour shifts...I get up just after 5 in the morning, start work at 730am and get home after my shift between 8 and 9.30pm depending on my finish time... I do 8 days straight through before taking my rest days and most days I am on my feet for the duration up and down stairs and chasing my tail.... believe me the right level of exercise keeps you alert and fresh and full of energy! | |

| Not Fit.. Then not Wanted. Posted: 5/2/2009 10:00:00 AM | lostsoulmoma I couldn't comment not knowing what meds you are on but I do know that exercise is a fantastic aid for depression. My kids are grown up now but I did mention earlier in this thread that I brought up both mine single handed for the most part but still made sure I fit in some form of exercise. At one point when I wasn't working the shift pattern I work now I made a point of cycling the 9.5 miles to work, used the gym in the lunch hour, cycled home and then went out dancing for 3 to 4 hours in the evening! Used to burn myself out every now and again but it was worth it for the great feeling of being so fit!
Meals ... well I am very disciplined in the way I eat and usually have 6 small meals a days but these can include a high protein shake or bar or when at work one of each because of the length of the shifts .... I always have fresh fruit blended first thing for breakies and freshly made fruit hot drinks (hence I am up just after 5am)
The results of both the eating and exercise are what motivate me to carry on the way I am doing...
