| to respond or not to respond Posted: 6/11/2008 12:12:23 PM | Thank you for bringing this up. This is certainly something that bothers me .
If a gentleman takes the time to respond to my profile and send me a first email I will always /always answer. When I take the initiative to write first to a person I too would like some kind of response. 95% do not. This is truly a annoying at our age no one is that busy! It takes just a few minutes.
Thanks for allowing me this gripe.

"I live life to its fullest" "Don't want a player" (lol who does?) "Looking for a real man" (what the hell is a "real" man anyhow?) "Don't want a cheater / liar" (duh)

| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 6/18/2008 12:42:41 PM | My #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles is the ones you contact who set themselves up as judge and jury where your looks and what you wear are concerned. Myself, I don't set myself up as judge and jury where a guy's looks are concerned when I contact them, what I do is look for something either in their profile that interests me or sometimes just the smile on their face and then decide whether or not to contact them. I also don't go looking at their earnings that are listed nor their profession to make my decision as to whether or not to contact them. I don't usually go judging them until I actually meet them or at least I try my best not.
My second pet peeve in profiles is the lack of honesty in them, do they think you can't see the dishonesty in their profile or what? For instance, when they say in their profile that they are looking for a long-term relationship, when in actual fact they are not and it turns out all they want is an intimate relationship, a one night stand in other words. Why not be honest about what you are actually looking for, instead of being dishonest and saying you want a long-term relationship when this isn't the case at all?
My third pet peeve in profiles is the ones you contact and they respond with a million and one false excuses for not wanting to meet you, why don't they simply be honest and say, no thank you, I'm not interested, instead? I think that, that is much better then coming up with a million and one false excuses for not wanting to meet you, right?

| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 6/18/2008 1:46:46 PM | As for myself I am hesitant to contact someone who isn't smiling in their main pic. I like the serious look but for the main pic I like to see you smiling at me ;)
Profiles that are too long will loose my interest unless your write it in a way to keep me reading!
I also don't like to look at a pic of you with your girlfriend and guess which one you are lol. If I think your both hot then that wont matter

Failing to mention they smoke, etc.
I have some good news for some of you.
If somebody lies in those drop down menus, you could report them to admin.
For example, there are many people on this site that claim they are drug free by answering NO in the DO YOU USE DRUGS question yet they talk about it in the body of the profile or in the forums. If you do this kind of thing, you are making their search feature useless and that is reportable people.
There are women that have complained about being tricked by married men who claim they are single and the mods have told them to report it too. I am not sure if there has to be many reports or how they verify the info. That is a secret.
I am not sure if they would do anything if a man or woman lied about their body type or height and somebody complained about it.

| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 6/22/2008 9:24:26 AM | Those that think the age field is just a suggestion. I regularly see profiles saying 29, 32, 35 years old when clearly they're 45 if they're a day. They might be a good looking 45, and that's something to be proud of, but just because your friends say "You look so young, you could pass for __," it's still a lie.
At what point do you reveal the deception? When your social security starts rolling in 10 years early? When they meet your children you had when apparently you were 11 years old? Age might only be a number, but numbers don't lie, and neither should you.
|
| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 6/23/2008 8:33:40 PM | | I wish could be perfect but alas I am only human. There are other reasons people make certain decisions and until you are in their shoes, or are experiencing what they are, you should not jump at making conclusions about their lifestyle or decision making. | |

| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 6/24/2008 8:28:17 AM | | I absolutely HATE it when men lie about their age. I specifically wrote in my profile that I hate it when men lie about their age and just the other day, I met someone for coffee who said he was 52 (the max age I want a potential date to be) but he easily looked 58-59. When I mentioned to him that he looked older than 52, he said that he'd orignally put in his profile that he was 48 but changed it. Why do people lie about their age? Do they really think a person won't figure it out eventually? And besides, I'm 45, I don't want to date someone that much older than me. Been there, done that. | |
|
| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 6/24/2008 9:54:30 AM | My pet peeve is when the profile is outside the margins... that just drives me crazy, you have to scroll over to see the whole profile. I don't even bother looking at the profiles once I see that. ~Charmed~ | |

| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 6/25/2008 7:27:15 AM | | My #1 pet peeve is when people don't take the time to read them except look at the picture, occupation, and hometown. I put a line at the end of mine about winning a trip if they read the whole profile and only twice has anyone asked...... | |
|
| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 6/25/2008 7:58:08 AM | | my #1 pet peeve is pictures that are a LIE, and the lie is apparent 1 second after seeing the person. so dissappointing and such a waste of time | |

| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 6/25/2008 8:53:23 PM | | I'd have to agree with your statement.. responding to someone's ad, and not getting a response back is insulting to some degree. I think what happens is that sometimes either they're snobbish towards your looks or they're just not sure as to what to say. | |
