| | What is your #1 Pet Peeve in ProfilesPage 16 of 22 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22) | I am new on POF, but I would have to say that I have a few pet peeves:
1) people who obviously don't read your profile - i.e your profile says that you don't have kids, and are divorced and someone asks you "So are you married?" or "Do you have kids?" Yes I really do have all those things.. I am happily married with 10 kids.. and that is why I said I am divorced and don't have kids.. 2) stupid intentional spelling mistakes like "ur sexi" *shudder* or words that don't exist like "irregardless" 3) excessive use of acronyms (I am living on a military base... lots of acronyms as it is.. do we really need more?!) 4) people who just slam everything on their profile - "internet dating is stupid and most people on here are losers anyways, so if you are a loser don't message me. I take pride in my physical appearance and work out often, so I want a girl who takes care of herself. If you are still reading this then you must not be a loser, so you can message me" 5) the ones that think they are funny by saying "oh so you decided to read this? the fact that I am a computer geek, who doesn't drink hasn't turned you off yet? no? still here? well allow me to introduce myself...." all I can picture is "comic store guy" from the simpsons saying "you may message me if you answer these questions three... question the first..." it's tragic 6) The one that has really upset me lately is the ones who you are passing messages back and forth great, lots of conversation then all of a sudden they slow down/stop, they are still reading your messages but just aren't responding or deleting them. I just wonder - ok? umm what happened there? things were going ok.. so then I review my last message, not over bearing or weird - a normal message.. so what gives? lol.. confusing is what it is... 7) I live in a small town (army base, the gossip is crazy) - as I am newly separated and my ex knows just about everyone in town, I have pictures on my profile but I do not have them public, because the last thing I want is someone telling him about how I am on here looking for FRIENDS and him thinking it's worse.. small town = big mouths (atleast around here). But what I don't get is people who message me and all they say is "picture?" no hi how are you or anything.. I usually just ignore those messages.. and I don't just pass out my picture on first contact either.. if there is something to keep talking about great! here is me.. and it's not all fancy it's just me :)
Anyways that is my rant! lol (and side note.. I apparently need a new keyboard, because some of my letters don't work properly! ha funny that spelling bugs me and I might have made mistakes because of my faulty keyboard!) | |

Wtf? That is why my profile is so vague now. I have a friend on here who is asking for "dating" and he is getting what I am asking for on his one and only date.lol I do have better luck in person anyway People that say you have to have a pic and they don't have one themselves! | |

| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 12/30/2008 9:27:29 AM | Well... it's not really a pet peeve but it certainly helps me to better understand a woman who says one thing but proves to be the other thing. I can't tell you how many profiles I read where the woman says she is looking for men within a certain age bracket but.... when you look at her mailing restrictions in her profile, it is totally different.
For the millionth time (sarcasm) I read another profile where she has done the same thing. Her profile submission states she (40 years old) is seeking a man between the ages of 35-42.
Yet, her mailng restrictions are for men 26-40.
It's not a bother that I can't contact her because of my age (48), I simply enjoyed her photos. But, it just makes you wonder about the woman's ability to be honest and/or cognisant of what she says she wants and what she really wants..... no wonder men get confused. | |

| What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles Posted: 3/9/2009 5:02:17 PM | I'm with My I on this one... it's not so much a pet peeve as something that makes me wonder exactly what people are thinking when creating their profiles and communicating with others on here...
Some people are studies in contradictions...
They have provocative photos and are upset when they are propositioned... They're looking for long-term yet don't take the time to get to know someone... Angry rants on how the person is sick and tired of being used and whatever...
Each of these things shows the world something about each of us... and to display that you're frustrated with this site, well... perhaps its time to take a break and regroup.
My absolute favorite though are the people complaining that there are no good guys / decent women left... I would bet that I could easily find a fantastic guy or a really nice lady in any city in Canada or the US... I speak to a lot of them right now and am amazed that these people are being overlooked for whatever reason...

Probably the biggest one that has just made me scratch my head is the "If you want to know - just ask." The whole idea of being on this site is "selling yourself" - why someone would want to pick you or contact you! It just seems very silly that this is a very good chance for someone to put themselves out there, and they don't take advantage of it.
The bad spelling and grammar are big things too, especially from my line of work. It stands out like a sore thumb to me. I have to remind myself that some people really don't care about it like I do, but still... | |

Some people just can't spell, it doesn't really reflect on any other part of their life, an example, my bro, awesome guy, he has a good job, all that stuff we wish we could find in single men but his spelling is bad, he is dyslexic. Just think of what we all might miss out on by judging that one simple aspect of a person. | |

I understand that people want to look good in the photos they put up, but don't do it if it's not a proper representation of yourself. So, no glamour shots if they are going to be the only ones up, nothing photoshopped, and you must include one that shows your body. Because on more than one occasion, I've been fooled by pictures that were too carefully selected, and it looked nothing like the person.
And in that same line, women, don't lie when it comes to your size. I consider myself "a few extra pounds", when your twenty pounds bigger than I am, you're not a "few extra", your now in "BBW" territory. I don't know who you're trying to convince, yourself or other guys. 'Cause if I show up to meet you and I'm expecting "average" or a "few extra", and you're 200 pounds, I'm walking away. I don't mind it, not really, but for the fact that you basically LIED by omitting the truth you deserve to be ditched. | |

Age restrictions bother me. I'm maybe ~3 years immature for being 29 (I get this, I accept this about myself, I would say I have a youthful personality. Better to be younger than older, I'd say, ask anyone who's old if they wish they had 3 extra years in their 20s!). I'm also more attracted to an early-mid 20s girl than I am a mid-late 20s girl, and all my friends tend to be a couple of years younger than I am at the very least. Imagine guys putting "no chicks > 120 lbs and you're an exceptionally attractive girl who weighs 122 lbs whom would otherwise work very well with said person.
Girls who look great but say nothing. Are you trying to get by on your looks alone? YES I like a good-looking girl, but if I can see the back of your skull when I gaze deep into your eyes, then it's pointless, I may as well go get a blowup doll haha!
People not knowing their body types bothers me, too. I blame this on PoF for not having enough options, specifically. | |

I'm new here, just been on for less then a week. I've created a profile, listed things I really shouldn't of, but figured.. honesty works best. Anyway enough with that.
I am sorry that I haven't gone though the hundreds of pet peeves people have posted, but I do have a few of my own.
The ABSOLUTE worst one is one that claim that they are open minded, outgoing and like to try new things. Yet when you message them with something that you genuinely want to talk to them about, they completely ignore you.
POF is a great site. I am passionate about it and can't wait to get to you all! :)

I was thinking it was more when they are out with friends. . . you know once in a while. I used to smoke a couple packs a day so I was a smoker. . . addicted and by my way of thinking you can smoke a lot less than a pack a day and be addicted . | |
