Have to agree with ChronicTom about being on friends lists. I am on 52 members friends list, I'll break it down for you.
29 of them have never messaged me, or have I messaged them.

11 of them, we don't talk anymore.(various reasons)

10 of them I may chat to about once a week, or send an email, asking how they've been.

and 2 of them are the greatest friends any girl could ask for! I chat to them at least one a day.
So, even though the number may seem high, doesnt really mean they won't have time for you.

This isnt really a pet peeve of mine, but I found it amusing.

Seen a profile a few days ago, asked that you please have a recent picture. Meanwhile if you look at their pic, the date stamp was from over a year ago.

Being an English teacher is a curse when reading profiles! I'd have to say the funniest observation is when someone claims themselves as "intellegent". PLEASE at least learn how to spell INTELLIGENT!!! :)

I suppose my biggest pet peeve other than that, would be the fact that many people, well men, claim they are looking for someone special, something long term, Ms. Right, but when it comes down to it, they would be content with a Ms. Right Now.

Just another teacher thinking intelligence has to come out of a book. How can you judge someone intelligence through spelling. I am intelligent, but my spelling some times can be pretty sketchy. I have been out of school for 12 years and working in the trades. Sometimes I even spell things wrong due to typo's, just have more things to worry about then making sure my spelling is perfect. I have made many threads on here, I have made alot of spelling mistakes in them, yet I still get a positive response and an overall consenses that I am intelligent.

I think what jenn2373 is refering to is to those who claim to be intelligent and yet they dont/cant spell right!!!
well first of all as far as I'm concerned nobody should say in their profile that they are "intelligent" about themselves, of course nobody thinks of himself or herself as non intellectual person, but when you come out in your profile that you are intelligent then the least you could do is to spell right because thats the way we communicate on here.

Thank you frankin! Of course everyone is apt to make typos, but profiles are your first impression. Intelligences comes in many different forms, but the least you could do is spell it correctly if you're claiming that to be one of your attributes. The art of the written words is somewhat lost in the age of the internet, which is unfortunate! Taking pride in the way you communicate with others, whether it be through your writing or your ability to hold a conversation, is certainly important to me and I hope it is for a lot of others out there!

In short, I certainly didn't refer to you being not intelligent, JUSTIN6767..... and I would argue that teachers are NOT the only people in the world who see intelligence (when demonstrated and not claimed) to be a turn-on!

New one: Someone who is looking for a mirror image of themselves. Who wants to date themselves? Isn't the fact that we're all different, the exciting part?

Zauvir: Way to go! You have beat the odds! And your mom must be an amazing person!

It takes everything you have and MORE to go through what you went through and I commend you. I'm sure they didn't mean someone like you....they mean someone who is too lazy to be bothered to cut the apron strings, mooching off a doting parent(s), and unwilling to make the effort to be independent. You have extenuating circumstances. :)

Good luck to you.

The spelling kills me. After that, it's women who start off by screaming at you in their profiles.

I don't cyber!!!
No married men!!!
No kids!!!
No old men!!!
I'm not easy!!!
No players!!!
READ my profile!!!
No intimates!!!

I understand all of the above, but there are polite ways to phrase them. I read all of the above and immediately think to myself.

She cybers.
She's dated married men.
She has kids.
She's slept with old men.
She's easy.
She likes players.
She's had many intimate encounters.

Add to the above that she's rude as hell and apparently thinks that's she's the catch of the century. Get over yourself, you're not that special. What really sickens me is that men obviously still harass ladies like this, hence the caveats. All I know is that I won't be one of them.

WOW! I must say there are a lot of pet peeves out there. Some seem just picky and others are right on the money.

What can I say about what bothers me in profiles? Well to start off, no picture. I really do not care if a person is overweight, thin, pierced or tattooed; I like to see whom I am talking to. And make sure it is you! Not some sunset that you did or your cat. I love cats but unless yours is on this site... Don’t say it is because you are worried people will recognize you, most people would be to embarrassed that they are using the dating board then confront you! Could see it now…

“Excuse me but are you the looser that I saw with their picture on Plenty of Fish while I was surfing it?”

Okay, so that is the big one. Small ones are bad spelling, typos and general sloppiness. Besides that would be the “ignored” messages. Like it says in some of the profiles “I get a lot of messages so do not fret if I do not respond to you. It could be I don’t think we would hit it off”. It is just a copout to most people.

Oh, and remember, if someone says in their profile they are looking for that special someone it probably means they are looking for someone to date and then build a relationship with. Hard to do that when it takes 5 hours to drive to the date (or even a plane ride).

Well that is my rant…

I have read every post in here with great interest. Yes bad spelling or grammatical errors are annoying, but speaking as a Developmental Services Worker, there are many folks out there who have a learning disability which may mean just a difficult time with spelling. I am not looking for the perfect speller anyway. Just a nice guy who wants a good lovin, and cookin woman. Pet peeve: married men. How do you expect to get any respect from any woman, when you are cheating on your spouse? , and please save your excuses as to the 'whys?'. Heard them all. Pet peeve: pics, Yes I like it when someone has their pic up, but not because I am shallow, more because I like to 'see' who I am speaking to. I guess my personal pet peeve would be that most men prefer a thinner woman. I have tried sending out emails to various members, and not even a tks, but no tks. sigh. Oh well, what can you do? To each their own. By the way, I did recheck my own profile, don't want to be acused of being a pet peever. Good luck to all in their searches.

I must accede with Miss Allison, regarding blatant poor spelling and grammar.

By the way; why is the word 'phonics' spelled with a 'ph' and not an 'f''?

I personally don't expect 'sparks', and if you mean by communicating by sending out an email? Yes I do that as well, or at least have tried. I understand we all have certain 'types' we prefer, but a response saying thanks for the interest, you look like a great gal/guy, but unfortunately not really my type, is preferable to no response at all. I sit here and wonder if my email got through, or if something was disasterly wrong with my profile? Respond kindly a few words can go very far. Thanks

My pet peeve is simple. Woman that say don't look at me for headgames or one nigth stands yet have pics of their chest only and pics of them bent over with their thong sticking out. Don't get me wrong, I'm male I'll look but you want respect from us maybe you should start showing other parts of your body.
Teeth and eyes get me going cause I can't see your brains.

people that seem to have a hard time smiling in their picture...and i agree about the old pictures...what are they thinking? that when you meet, that you will overlook the fact that they were deceptive?
people that seem to take this site really to serious...or have no self confidence in themselves in the profile...
