Your post pretty much sums it up. Ridiculous to even guess how many *minutes* combined - in a week- from every session- from 168 hours that arent even available.

Breaking it down , logging it in , opens many peoples eyes as to where all the time actually went.


Ridiculous - hardly = most people don't have "clue" what they actually do in a week !
They think they do a lot, the reality of it all is they spend only a short time actually physically exerting themselves.

Saying you go to the gym for an hour 3 times a week rarely means 180 minutes of physical exertion, thats all.

These days to be honest I'm spending about 7 hours a week on a bike. I've been playing with my 11 month old nephew alot, but that doesn't really count. When I waa serious about making gains in my sport I'd train for 25-30 hour a week in a base training phase (cycling, skiing, skting, weights ++) and in season my training hours would drop to about 12 hours a week (all on bike). I think my biggest weeks ever were back packing/tramping and hitch hiking around New Zealand for a couple months and it seemed that I was on my feet for 10 hours a day, most days with about 30 kilograms on my back.

I consider exercise anything over and beyond the generic stuff all of us have to do anyways.
Before I answer the original question, please confirm that THIS is the definition of "exercise" you are using for this thread.

Well I do the P90X workout routine and it ranges from about 60 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes.

By far the most intense workout I have done and they are coming out with one called Insanity which is even more intense but so will the results. If you are interested in learning more drop me a line.

I work in a construction type of environment, so I get plenty of exercise.
But additionally, I workout 1 hour/day, 5 times/wk. and I'm in my late 40s.
It's not about how much time you spend working out, its about quality and quantity on the time spent.

Maybe 4 to 4.5 cardio

Weights about 20 to 25 minutes for 2 days a week

Abs about an hour to 1.25 hrs a week

I always work out 4 days a week - Never less, sometimes more. The time spent actually working out is 6 hours. Yes it takes time out of my evenings. I leave my house at 7:00 and I'm home by 9:00. I also park further away, take the stairs as much as I can.

Around 600 minutes, give or take 100. This includes weight-training and cardio, and excludes time spent talking between sets beyond sensible resting time.

45 min cardio 5 days a week, 30 min weights 3 times a week. But if you really want to know what you think you should be doing, then its a lot different.

I do aquarobics twice or three times a week (so that's 110 minutes minimum)

I do pump class (working with weights) the same.. 110 minutes

So total - 220 minutes

Latley for me it's been :

5 hours a week of walking
5 hours of exercising (hour a day, 5 days a week)
2 or 3 hours of basketball on the weekends

I have more of a problem with eating enough food to keep up with it all. Have to walk alot to get to work and class.

2 hours of class exercise , weight lifting, palates and yoga then a hour of cardio 4 times a week average which is about 12 hours a week! How many minutes? You do the math!

10-14 hours per week. I'm training for the Marines. No time for breaks, no time for water, just good ol' P.T.

MWF:
200 push ups (4-5 sets)
200 crunches (3 sets)
125 dips (5 sets)
'Recon Ron' Pull up program
6-8 mile run

T, Th:
8 x 5 bicep curls
10 x 5 dumbbell clean and press
10 x 5 Bentover dumb bell rows
15 x 5 weighted squats
300 reverse crunches (5-6 sets)
3 mile run

Saturday:
basketball wit some ballaz

Sunday:
REST

Then again... I'm a college grad, tutoring for maybe 12 hours a week, got plenty of time until I ship out.
