I've seen her in person, she is curvy in my opinion. Each person has their own definition. Remember, I come from a culture where a b-cup and a butt of any sort is considered voluptuous.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 10/30/2009 9:05:09 PM | I am 54 and lost 46 pounds since last may. I now wear a size 12 and my BMI is correct for my height and weight. Yes I would love to go to the gym but I work alot and I am a busy single mom. at 5'8 I am now at 160 lbs and the BMI says I am still overweight. If you look in the mirror and like who looks back then what does it matter. I lost my weight for me, for better health and at my age I need to do what I can to stay healthy. I dont think I have an average body I think now with the curves I have It all works. If you can find a man who looks at you and says Wow then accept the compliment with good grace. Thats the point if you are trying to do it for someone else you will you are fighting a battle you cannot win. What I read in profiles is that men hate old pictures so they seem to feel that when they meet someone, you don't measure up to they're expections. Relationships need to be built on honesty right from the start.
Its just my opinion | |

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 11/2/2009 10:28:58 AM | | Why is this such a big issue for everyone. I am about 30 lbs overweight, but for good reason and it does not mean that I am lazy. Due to an illness, I was on steroids (mostly prednisone) for most of a year. During that time I also could not exercise due to severe asthma attacks that were brought on by this illness. I gained more than 80 lbs. I had surgery, got better, and have not needed steroids for 2 yrs now, but it's not easy to lose that much weight. I am now very active and healthy. I have been losing slowly and consistantly for about 1 1/2 yrs, with 30 lbs to go. It seems even that much is a huge problem for most men. Why? | |

I wish! But I've only been here 9 months. I was actually referring to Korea, my heritage.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 11/3/2009 10:29:35 AM | It's more about the ratios than the weight itself as well as where women carry that weight. If losing weight would result in a less disparate waist to hip ratio, said woman probably shouldn't bother to lose weight.
Also keep in mind women routinely lie about weight so unless the guy is a doctor or coaches women's wrestling or something, he's not generally going to have a lucid idea of what a woman actually weighs.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 11/4/2009 12:46:48 PM | | Every guy has different standards. As a general rule, men of: German, Polish, Russian, and Hispanic, heritage often like bigger women. Men of: French, Italian, English, or Swedish, heritage tend to like smaller women. Within such vague generalities there always exceptions. Look for a guy who cares more about your insides than your outsides, and then size won't be a factor. One man's 'obese' is another man's 'pleasingly plump'. I've dated scarecrows, and butterballs, and all shapes in between. Some guys are less democratic. Ask the iundividual guys you email what their tastes are. | |

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 11/4/2009 1:58:02 PM | This is an incredibly difficult thing to define, as it will differ based on each person's preferences. So much depends on fitness level, frame and how the weight (fat and muscle) are distributed. There are plenty of exceptions to almost any generalization you can make!
That said, I have my baseline preference - from which some variation can exist and still be attractive to me. I find a woman who is 5' 7" tall and 125 lbs to be close to ideal. Add or subtract 5 lbs per inch, and allow a +/- 10 lb variance from that figure - works for me and my preferences, but may not for anyone else. Generally, if you calculate BMI from these numbers, they tend to fall in the lower half of the normal BMI range (19-22).

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 11/4/2009 4:15:14 PM | Not being mean to any lady out there but if you have above normal body fat....then your over weight. If you have a gut..your over weight. If when you put your arms straight (make a T standing up) out to your sides palms up and your tricep area (back of upper arm) hangs down...you might not be over weight but your definitly not toned.
Im my searching around out here and looking at pics...there are more over weight ladies then not. and its unfortunate that this is the way the United States is going...there are more overweight ppl now then ever....the kids becoming adults now are over weight from not doing any activity as a child like riding a bike, skate boarding, playing sports. its all staying in and TV, partying etc....so its only going to get worse.
Im thin, and most girls dont like thin guys...so I had to put my thoughts in here on the weight issue.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 11/5/2009 9:28:02 AM | I've never cared about weight (I can lift most women), what I care about is PROPORTION.
Women have curves and are designed to possess a higher body fat percentage than men, no sane person is debating that... However there ARE limits.
- No one needs to have washboard abs, but that doesn't mean you automatically have a gut. - You don't have to have a butt carved out of stone, but that doesn't mean it should feel like a Hefty Bag full of Jell-O. - You can't control the width of your hip & pelvic bones, but you can darn well control how much additional padding is on top of them. - Contrary to popular belief, friction burns through your pants from your thighs rubbing together is NOT normal. - Excessive tricep flab: thumbs down. No one wants to date a lady with "Grandma arms". - Cankles: out, unless your preferences are like Bill Clinton's.
These are just some examples of being "out of proportion" according to MY personal definition. We all have to work with what we're given, but may I re-emphasize the fact that we can WORK ON IT. A person with the hefty gene may never be a stick figure, but that doesn't mean they still shouldn't try to exercise hard and maintain or trim down as far as their body/health allows. If you give it your best and become your best (physically), you've won already, even if no one else takes notice.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 11/5/2009 11:11:19 AM | I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL. That should say enough right there! The men down here are ALL looking for the barbie doll type no matter what her personality is, I just don't get it. Now, I think that I'm a very attractive woman, but I tell I won't even get a second look from most men down here, I DON'T GET IT!!!
I consider myself Average weight, I've lost 30 lbs in the past year and only have 15 left! YAY! But, I have a great personality, good looking and still am only hit on by complete, alcoholic losers in south florida.
I do feel that the area you live in attributes to how people generalize weight/ looks!
Maybe I should just move! LOL

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 11/6/2009 2:05:49 PM | My personal trainer and friend looks like she weights 110 but she weighs 130. If you work out and have more muscle than fat you may weigh more than you look.
While waiting for an appointment the tv set in the waiting room was on the Food Network and the guy named Bobby Flay was on and while he isn't overweight, he sure doesn't look fit. So I need men and women in my life who are not food focused.
Ever see the awesome wheel chair men and women in the various marathons like the recent one in NYC? They may be disable and in a wheel chair, but they are more fit than most able bodied Americans.

That is true, but she's an exception. A woman with 130 lbs of densely packed muscle will look quite a bit smaller than a woman who doesn't have much muscle at 130, but those types are usually genetic. It can be acheived, but that takes a lot of time in the gym and much self discipline.
I often wonder about the men who are a good 30-50 lbs overweight who find a body like Jennifer Love Hewitt's to be "fat".
Anyway, most of my "fat" friends are married/in long term relationships. I don't think fat is the issue in finding a partner.

I find a woman who is 5' 7" tall and 125 lbs to be close to ideal. Are you aware that the weight range for a 5'7" woman is 121-159 lbs? How do you know these ideal women are in fact 125 lbs? Are you just guessing their weight? If you are, chances are good you're guessing too low.
