| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/18/2009 7:46:44 PM | There are thin people who are so out of shape they cannot walk a mile without getting tired. Its about being fit and healthy with me. And what about the person who is working hard to change their lifestyle? That person you see as being overweight or even obese, may have weighed a whole lot more six months ago or a year ago.
So don't be so hasty to judge until you know all the facts. Not to mention one awesome man who was on steroids for a serious medical issue, and looked so much bigger than he would have sans the meds.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/18/2009 8:03:32 PM | | well, that was a point that i tried to make. may have gotten lost in the shuffle though. that even if you are trying to exercise and be healthy, etc., you would not be acceptable to alot of these guys until you achieved the stick figure. you would still be considered bbw. they would not be caring how much you had achieved. and there was another thread with guys saying even then they would be hesitant to date that person or would not date that person. so to them, you have wasted your time and efforts. so i say don't bother doing it for another person. do it for your own health. | |

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/18/2009 8:29:28 PM | I've had girlfriends who weighed as much as forty pounds less than me but we wore the same size clothing. I keep thinking if I could get the same muscle tone in my belly as the rest of me, I'd be even heavier but smaller.
My husband is happy with me and more than enough men have expressed the same, but I know that my health demands about forty pounds or more to get rid of. I always think my hunny is too thin, but since the wedding we've reversed weight, both good for my self esteem and for what I like to look at. Since he's been working out his shoulders are yummy and I love a lil bit of what he calls his otra llanta de panza - his spare tire. I just wanna snuggle up to my growing teddy bear.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/19/2009 5:15:19 AM | It's just genetic.
Women are looking for protectors, so of course don't mind a bit of bulk.
Men are looking for mothers of their children, and most physical attraction is to do with that.
It's not the weight thing. Men are genertically programmed to dislike anyone who they consider "unhealthy". As they are less likely to be around when their kids are growing up.
Being overweight is just linked to being unhealthy. If a guy thinks you are unhealthy, he will probably dislike it.
Personally, I don't mind curves. But seeing bellys, flab, is a total turn off

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/19/2009 12:59:09 PM | Men don't care about weight. They care about shape.
You could be made from osmium as long as you flare out in the right places and cinch in at the right places. If a man considers you dense, he's not talking about your mass per unit volume ratio.
The degree of flaring/cinching found attractive varies from man to man.

Men don't care about weight. They care about shape.
Exactly. It's how a woman carries that weight that's important. If it's all in areas that are unsexy when big like arms, thighs, neck, then it doesn't look good. If it's in her hips, ass, breasts, then rock on. There are limits though. There's only so much weight each frame can handle before things start to sag, protrude, and hang over clothing. Not sexy!

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/19/2009 5:39:43 PM | | I will get blasted here for the truth but it is obvious that playboy models are the prototype and everything bigger than that is just a matter of what a man will put up with. Nobody really finds fat attractive unless they are abnormal and it probably has to do with some psychic anomaly. Lucky for fatties but by definition those guys are not main stream which may be indicative of other potential deviations. | |

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/20/2009 2:05:48 AM | micheal70 """"Me, I'm overweight,''''"""" why do you classify yourself as overage??
Me, I'm overweight, I got a small belly but the rest of me is solid, I dont consider myself at 5'11" and 200 pounds to be obese, although in my pic I was about 30 pounds heavier, wow, that was the biggest I've ever been.
I thought I explained myself rather well, solid with a small belly, hard to pinch more than an inch or 2 anywhere except the midsection. What should I change it to ? I'm not thin, I think of athletic as in really good shape, average is average, few extra as chubby to "somewhat" fat, bbw as fat to obese.

there seems to be many definitions of what people define as "overweight", and of course...there is always more scrutiny on womens weight than mens weight. just thought it would be interesting to ask the guys what they consider to be unattractive weight wise. for example, is average/curvy attractive and you draw the line at obese? or do you not prefer average weight women and think thin is most attractive? A woman is overweight if she's more than 25% body fat.
In terms of what I find appealing, I can only go by the heights and weights of the women I've dated. Most have been between 5' 3" and 5' 5" with weight ranging from 105-115 lbs. (sizes 3-5) I would consider that average, since none would have been considered skinny.. I had one girlfriend who was 5' 9", extremely athletic and she weighed 120 (at 14% body fat, which is very low for a woman). I'd call that exceptionally athletic.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/20/2009 7:46:11 AM | 5 ft 3 and 5 ft 5 at 105-115... that is WAY SKINNY and Im sure EVERY woman would agree with me. 5 ft 9 and 120 is a toothpick.
Im 5 ft 7 and Curvy... Im POSITIVE that I am considered Obese in most Dr's books, based on the BMI standards!!
NO ONE has ever guessed my weight.. when I do tell them they dont believe me.
I still weigh the same as I did in highschool

5 ft 3 and 5 ft 5 at 105-115... that is WAY SKINNY and Im sure EVERY woman would agree with me. 5 ft 9 and 120 is a toothpick. I disagree. The one who was 5' 9" was an athelete. The others were not exceptionally athletic nor skinny.
Im 5 ft 7 and Curvy... Im POSITIVE that I am considered Obese in most Dr's books, based on the BMI standards!! The BMI tables are worthless. Those tables would indicate a very muscular person is overweight since those tables do not distinguish between fat and muscle tissue. To find out if you're overweight you need to have a bodyfat measurement done. Calipers are accurate enough for this purpose.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/20/2009 3:34:04 PM | Based on my knowledge of Canadian weight standards, I would agree with terri368. Although those standards are also adjusted for age & we don't have that information. Since abelian is currently 45, one might guess these women to be in their 30's or 40's. A woman who is 5'6" (like me), the healthy range for a woman in her 30's is 124-140 pounds. For a woman in her 40's, it's 135-150.
And terri368, I have the same thing happen to me. Only one person in the last 5 years has guessed within even 20 pounds, of my weight
abelian is also correct though, BMI is only accurate for "average" people, not those who are athletic in build. I have never heard of bodyfat measurments. Something I'll need to discuss with my doctor.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/20/2009 3:38:19 PM | | A woman can have extra weight if she carries it well. I think we all know what FAT looks like. Any woman who wants to find love would do well to be a attractive as possible and not have fat........ | |

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/20/2009 8:57:37 PM | Well myself I don't find 'above average' weight on gals necessarily unattractive, if anything i think curvy is pretty sexy.
my last relationship the gal weighed about 10lbs less than me. I'm 6'2" and pretty athletic and she was i dunno maybe 5'5-5'7 and i thought her weight was perfect. I'd probably be okay up til about the 200ish range.I guess it depends on height too. anything above 250+ I would say is fairly un attractive. Girls def don't all need to be super thin!

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/21/2009 5:43:29 AM | Actually that could work both ways. You being a woman the things you might see will be different from what a man sees. If you think it's bad now, if you remember the 1980's I think it was worse then. I was always kind of a rock n roll type and being slender was extrememly important then for some stupid reason. Someone did say there are other factor to consider as well which could be how nice your face is, how overweight you are, your bone frame and the amount of muscle you have. I think it's not always about your weight, the way I feel is if someone does not like the way I look then they are not worth my time to begin with. But I know alot of people can be conscience about the way they look. If you change the way you look don't do it just to pick up men, do for your health and to feel better about yourself.
P.S. Being overweight does not always make you look attractive because beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

| what do men consider overweight? Posted: 5/21/2009 9:22:30 AM | | I don't think that most men are concerned about a woman being 10-15 pounds or so overweight today. What does raise a red flag is the trend. Sure, she might be 15 pounds overweight today but in five years, after a few children and the normal aging process and the extra large bags of Doritos, then that 15 becomes 35. That is a big problem for many. | |
