what do men consider overweight?

Totally true.......but what is healthy might be different from one person to another.

I think that for men and women with your waist is large than your hips or your chest, there's a good chance your overweight. Actual weight is not important, people are different heights. just for an example 170 lbs guy 5'7 with a 30 inch waist is health, but take a 6'2 guy at 170lbs with a 38 inch waist not so healthy.

All in all, you are rude and inconsiderate. You have a right to your opinion but damn. You call this site a "freak show" and yet here you are a member. You would probably consider me overweight but since i don't know you your opinion does not matter to me. I just hope you don't drown in your SHALLOW pool.

Without any prejudice you can calculate your body mass index. This well tell you whether you are within the acceptable normal range of variation or not:

Obesity is a harmful illness which shouldn't go untreated.

Geez, with all the charts out there, overweight means over weight. It means you weigh more than the ideal for your height and bone structure.

I did a profile review recently and this guy had average. He looked 9 months pregnant.

I just don't get anyone saying average based on Americans and other countries having obesity problems. If you are wearing a larger size shirt to fit over your belly for men and man boobs, you are overweight and it shows. For a woman, you know when that used to be flat belly is rounded. You lean over and the little lumps are now big bumps making it difficult to lean over. It is you that should be concerned with you and your own weight. If you can't be honest about it, why are you in denial about it? Why does it matter if someone else says you are or you aren't fat? It is your health you should be concerned with.

Well am not trying to come rude over so I was saying stuff simple and if that is how most people want me to talk is aggressive I will.

Over weighted is an eye thing. Either you are too fat for the other person or your not.
If the other person is 3xx pounds, skinny maybe anything under 250~. If you weigh 3xx punds you can look up at someone who is 250 pounds and is 3 times their own size.
looking at myself I weigh exact 300 pounds !
I go outside in today's time and see mainly people way fatter than me not over weighted but fatter in Mass. I think weight has nothing to do with it.
I am a Average body but weigh 300 pounds. So overweight has nothing to say.
[B] Its your body mass what people either hate or do not like.
I am smart enough I weighed once and I am not proud of it nearly 400 pounds.
Played 7 years soccer, football, fought MMA and tried alot more sports. I got a healthy athletes appetite.
Now call me fat average a few extra pounds, my friends say I weigh no more than 250. But I know the truth----
-Joshua

[B]P.S To people who think they are fat!
How about instead of loosing weight. You people who think your fat get off your asses and do some sports. For all I care walk around the block. You will see a difference next year and you will fell healthier.

If I can loose nearly 100 pounds in 4 months by god you can.! It may turn into a solid mass but who gives a damn. Rather have Average body and weigh too much than a Brick-wall.

Everyone has their own definition of overweight. I could stand to lose a few pounds and am working on it. By the same token, when I bend my head down, I can see my feet. I would want the guy that I'm with, to be able to bend his head down and see his feet too. I'm not attracted to Humpty Dumpty.

OP, just so you're clear, you look great! You're not overweight and look beautiful in your picture. For me, I usually wouldn't date someone that weighs a lot more than me. I weigh 160 lbs. If the girls weighs slightly more than me, but I like her personality and knows how to hold herself, I'll go out w/ her.

That's hard to answer. LakeCountyGal does mention her weight and she says in her profile'Full Figured", and she says "a little extra pounds". She looks fine. Why....she has confidence in herself, knows how to dress and other reasons.

'Overweight is blubber rolling off the body. Breasts that areso fat they bonce all over the place. Dressing to show every pound. I can still rember one FAT woman I saw a few years back, FAT, OVERWEIGHT, BLUBBER ALL OVER, and she was wearing Lycra tights. DRESS FOR YOUR SIZE!

joanne1357 - I walk 45 minutes on the treadmill 3 times a week at an incline of 5 and a speed of 3.1 mph. I also take spin classes on Tuesdays & Thursdays during lunch hour with a couple of my co-workers. I also lift weights. I know that I will never be a size 4, my frame isn't built small. At the same token, I want t be in the best physical shape - be able to walk up 30 flights of stairs & not stop (currently it's 6 floors). So, it isn't so much what the scale says, it's what I am able to do on a physical level and that when they do run health tests on me, the tests are all ok. I also don't believe in diets. I believe in portion control, but the big thing for me is moving my body in some shape, form or fashion. I also realize that the older I get, the weight won't come off as easy. But hey, how many 50+ men have great bodies that are easy on my eyes? Very few, sad to say.

I think people are so tied into fashion thin, and just because the models are thin, it doesn't mean they are in great physical shape. I wouldn't be surprised if a great deal of fashion models and stars have blood pressure, cholesterol, and other health issues. Being thin in itself doesn't constitute perfect health. People get fooled by seeing a thin "package" and they assume "perfect health".

Best way to tell if someone is over weight is by using the BMI index (Body Mass Index.)
But as far as what men consider over weight is all based on personal preferance.
I mean I am an athlete and according to my BMI I am in a healthy weight range but I am on the heaver side due to muscle mass. Some guys like my build, where others prefer softer curves or very thin. I am how I am, and that isnt gnna change for anyone. I have a quote...
“Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.”

I have no idea what most men consider overweight. While I was dating, I got all kinds of comments from:

"You're on the bigger side, but mostly where it counts," (er, thanks, I guess?) to "Mmm, curvy," to "scrawny little thing" lol.hahaha

It probably comes down to indvidual preferences, mostly. I try not to worry about it, although in my mind, I always think, "just a few pounds less, and then I'll be perfect!"

My family has hereditary cholesterol problems. This means that I have to be much more conscience of what I eat and make sure that I do exercise. About five years ago I did the cholesterol pills for about a year and that is when I started to make life style changes with my diet and exercise. I no longer have to take pills.

It is so true that you can't tell how healthy someone is just by looking at them. But I have found men that are overweight have had blood pressure and diabetic problems. The one guy was inflexible and really sucked in bed, couldn't even keep his knees up. That is my experience. Everyone should visit their doctor regularly, exercise and eat a healthy diet. They are all important no matter your weight.

the whole thing on BMI is a pile of c**p.
i have a medical condition that adds weight from the amount of insulin i have to take to keep me alive.
i go to the gym 5 days a week, watch what i eat, yet get classed as fat by doctors standards.
yet if i cut down my insulin as they propose, it makes me ill & puts me back in hospital but the weight loss is fantastic.
i'm 5 foot 11 & half inches tall & curvy but i dont class my self as fat or obese. yet if i didnt have my boobs i'd be 2 stone lighter.

you cant win whether your skinny, curvy, fat, tall or short.

and as i will say to any bloke, you dont like how i look. well tough s**t i aint changing for no-one.

In my time of dating, two men have found me larger than their taste and had the nerve to say so, but one of those men subsequently had a three month relationship with me and we are still friends. My sparkling personality, wit, general attractiveness, and intelligence made up for my 20 extra pounds. He was shorter than most men whom I usually see more than once, but I made allowances for him, too

Gwendolyn, if you are the same size as in your photos, I can assure you that you are not overweight. May I tell you that you have the most extraordinary head of hair I have ever seen? Nice legs to shock those female prudes, too.

I once set up a blind date with a dude who asked my height and dress size. I told him 5'2, size 3 usually. Apparently, his ex was a size zero at 5'2, so I was definitely overweight. I wanted to meet him just to see this magnificent specimen of manhood, but instead found a chubby guy with a beer gut. He conceded my lack of fatness, but warned me to diet down to my appropriate size. I had a good laugh.

What is considered overweight is similiar to porn: Most can't define it, but know it when they see it.

Im with shirley. An extra chin, and belly, hanging, is just fat. I dont care how athletic you think you are. BMI and height/ weight charts do not lie. get your head out of the clouds, guys and gals. I know, I know, really athletic, muscular people will have a higher BMI, but honestly, how many of us, on here, are like that?
When your waist is over 36 or bigger than a 14, need to rethink that I&O thing. You know when you are embarrassed to have someone see you naked. Most people on here can handle an extra 20 pounds or so, but when you actually have to move the rolls out of the way, it's time to take a real long look at yourself. Sorry, and I know I will get berated for this, but fat isnt attractive. Wouldnt it be great if it were? All you have to do, is start a walking regimen, take in less than you burn off. The average anymore is not necessarily healthy or normal. The average person these days, is overweight, or even obese. Because of the epidemic. We are all so used to seeing heavy people, we think it is normal. But is isnt.
