Actually all of those functions are handled by your brain...which is a biological construct. And, they are likely also only reactions to stimulus, sadly. No stimulus = No brain function No brain function = No "soul"
And I'm sorry...but how is "Yuck" a cogent argument,again? | |

| Acknowledgment Of The Soul Posted: 5/26/2009 9:03:01 PM | The electrical energy present in your brain is only one component in making a person unique. The multitude of synapses present in your brain and their unique configuration combined with their connection to the nervous system, then on to your body and then the greater physical universe are what makes a person unique. Upon the event of brain death the neural pathways that make a person who they are degrade as the connections rot and convert to other forms of energy (heat, chemical and kinetic).
As a being in the universe a person's nature changes over time and alters the soul is an attempt to qualify the multitude of factors that make a human individual unique over the course of their lifetime. So while I see no problem with acknowledging the existence of a soul it is incorrect to assume that because the energy is converted mental cognition will continue.
