| Oh man, I figured out how to make this site work! Posted: 6/8/2009 12:32:41 PM | There's little point in putting a lot of effort into initial emails, because there is so little - if any - return for the time and effort spent. It's necessary to say something worthwhile and specific, but that tidbit can be included in an otherwise generic email telling about yourself.
The only realistic goal is to obtain a response that can begin a dialog, and for that to happen it usually means the person you contacted needs to read your profile and decide you're interesting. The profile is the second key - and often the only key if you don't initiate contact.
If I actually initiate contact, it's because I've read her profile, met her stated criteria, and think we have enough in common to warrant a conversation. | |
