Hopefully he drives away the older demographic (people complaining in this thread) and you're forced to watch the incredibly stale Letterman or watch pain dry - which is one in the same.

Hopefully Conan brings the Masterbating Bear and Pimpbot 3000 to Burbank! I don't want to see Conan's humor tampered with!
As both “Late Night…” and “The Tonight Show” are owned by NBC, I’m sure Conan will be able to bring all his delightful denizens with him. Letterman wasn’t so lucky when he switched networks to CBS. That’s when Larry ‘Bud’ Melman” lost his name and “Late Night…” became “The Late Show…” | |

I hope that Conan doesn't get watered down switching to an earlier time slot.
This was my concern as well. If he's not free to be Conan, it won't be worth watching. | |

The Universal Studios tour was also funny, especially when they went out on the open roads. And Conan's reaction to Will Ferral's entrance was priceless. | |

Much like passing a car wreck I have forced myself to watch the last two nights. And like a car wreck much of what i have seen is carnage. Conan's immature attempts at humor, his spastic expressions and attempts at physical humor simply are not funny. He is as awkward and as embarrassing as when he was inexplicably given a show the first time.
I hope NBC has a backup plan for this debacle. Sadly, the Tonight Show is gone. This is simply the same lame Conan show in an earlier time slot. | |

And it was so nice to see Andy back! Conan's skits are the best, bar none. Jimmy Kimmel's skits are seriously lame and boring now. They do some funny bits, like Max and Conan staring contests.
Labamba is hilarious.
Only because they pick on him if he didn't show up for the day's rehearsal. On those days, after any joke dealing with perverse sexual content, the camera will zoom in on Labamba, and he'll be making that face like "why are they focusing on me after that joke"? | |

When Johnny Carson took a day or week off he would always have a guest host for the show. That's how many got their jumpstart into stardom. Now when the host wants a day off they rerun a show from last month. Pathetic. Why not have a same day show with Chris Rock or that redhead woman as guest host ???? Sheesh even that parkinson's dude would be cool.
Carson never showed reruns and in the process created new up and comers.
I realize it's not the superstar's decision, just more corporate greed. Don't pay anyone for the night and still collect their revenue using pete and repeat.
I think if one of the shows stepped up to the plate and did it the old fashion way they would blow the other networks off the airwaves.

The talk-show tides are turning.
Jay Leno dominated the late-night wars for years–but it took David Letterman just seven nights to top Leno’s successor Conan O’Brien.
‘The Late Show with David Letterman‘ beat ‘The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien‘ in the ratings Tuesday night, according to Broadcasting and Cable.
Dave pulled a 3.4 rating compared with Conan’s 2.9. The new ‘Tonight Show’ with Conan as host premiered to a 7.1 rating and has declined in viewership each night since his June 1st debut.
It’s too soon to tell if this is a new trend or a temporary slide.
But it’s no wonder CBS just renegotiated Dave’s contract to keep him on the air three more years….
Julia Roberts dropped by Dave’s show Tuesday night, where she pronounced him the late-night king.
Looks like the people are speaking loud and clear with their remotes.

His new show starts on September 14th.
10 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

One night he made fun of his band leader being on a sex offender list and the other night he made fun of the band dude for being a male prostitute.... I couldnt see leno trying to get a laugh by calling his band dude a pervert or whore. Probably would have been better if Kimmel got the gig instead. | |

Halloween is still a few days away but there’s already a ghost haunting Conan O’Brien and it goes by the name of Jay Leno.
When O’Brien made the move to Los Angeles he walked into a seemingly glamorous position as host of ‘The Tonight Show,’ replacing Leno on the storied program. Then NBC decided to give Leno a prime-time gig and that’s when the nightmare started.
‘The Tonight Show’ — once the leader of late night — is now falling behind David Letterman’s show, but more interesting is how low the ratings have dropped compared to last year, according to the New York Times.
O’Brien’s ‘Tonight Show’ has averaged 2.53 million viewers, compared to Leno’s 4.75 million during the same time last year — representing a decline of 47%. While a sex scandal might have boosted Letterman’s ratings, he’s still averaging 4.59 million viewers.
Wonder how long they let Conan stay floundering before the bring Leno back to the Tonight Show? I hope it is soon! | |

Posted: 10/29/2009 11:15:06 PM | I wonder how jays show is doing in the ratings. I don't watch it every night, but usually 2 or 3 times a week. I've heard a lot of criticism, but personally I've enjoyed it when I have seen it. (except that race track thing, that's a waste of time). People complain "its too much like his other show...". So what? I don't know why they're so bothered.
I like that he has more time for goofy segments. | |
