I prefer people to be civil in public and not to be overly boorish, nor to vomit copious amounts onto the pavement that I have to gingerly step around for a week.

No good being a snob about anything, we come into the world with nothing and we leave with the same. We cannot take money, homes, cars or social status with us. The only thing we can leave behind is memories in the hearts of people we have met along the journey of life and thoughts of happier times

Of course not. But all the attitudes and wealth are passed straight down to Tabitha and Tarquin so they can continue the legacy of staring snootily down their noses at others after death. The fact someone probably takes their thoughts to the grave with them doesn't mean their legacy fails to live on in their progeny. And it's backed up and fully paid for with the wealth they accrued whilst robbing every other mite in the land of the living.

That's a typical saying of the 'Have nots'. It asumes that every person with money must have made it in some immoral or illegal way.

have to say I totally agree............why does this country always love to knock anyone who has done well and made something of themselves? The green eyed monster perhaps with all the "can't afford its" whinging that anyone who has made good must have done it dishonestly?

I dont consider myself being a snob but think some of my friends would dissagree....

I know what I like and I rather spend a few more pennies or pounds to get what I enjoy (ie wine, meet, cheese etc) than byuing something cheaper I wouldnt enjoy.... even if this meant I had to cut down on other things....

And I would go out for a meal or lunch in a restaurant once or twice a month and then "pay" for it by sacrifising other things in life (ie food, clothes etc) as I get more out of going out for a meal a couple of times a month with friends than I get eating meals at home on my own......

And btw Im unemployed living on JSA but that doesnt mean I cant still enjoy a few "nice" things in life.... Its all about budgeting and prioritising

I am a snob about tea, I hate cheap crappy tea and will refuse to drink up, not to the point of being rude but will avoid at all costs.

I'm a tea snob too. Cheap tea is just vile and tastes off to me, if there is no decent tea on offer I'll drink coffee instead.

PG Tips being the best.

I'll have to disagree, the best tea has to be Tetley.

I think we are all snobby about something or other, regardless of our protests.

I am snobby about smelly people, people that dont wash. You can buy a bar of soap for literally 20p in Asda, a flannel for the same amount. I really do think that if a person is uncaring about themselves enough not to at least wash then they are just revolting. No apologies from me for saying that either.

I am snobby about a few things but i cant remember any more at present.

Down with stinkers!

I would say I am fussy in my food but not a snob , I buy good meat but cheap biscuits and crisp so.

like branded clothes, I dont particually care but isnt that matreialistic rather than snobbish, if you earn your own money dont you have the right to choose what you spend it on and how.

the only thing I find annoying is bad manners, please and thankyou go along way ;)

I don't understand how anyone can be snobby about toilet paper (with the exception of that tracing paper stuff that's more 'scrape' than 'wipe'). Like who has such a sensitive hole that they need aloe vera or quilted? I buy cheap TP and never had any problems, even times when I've had an infection and gone 30 times a day.

If I had Katie Price begging me for s*x I'd tell her where to go, if there's one thing I can't stand is tarty looking women who look like they belong in the adult entertainment industry and then moan when they say they are used for s*x by men Nicole Kidman type of women for me any day!

No, it's just people with money generally do things that makes life harder for those that don't. I'll use buying a second 'holiday' home in the country and thus driving up the prices beyond the reach of the locals who live there all year round as a prime example. When huge swathes of the most desirable areas are snapped up like this it has a secondary effect of forcing local businesses to close as there isn't a permanent residence any more to use their trade. Everyone who jumped on the buy-to-let bandwagon also played a part in driving up the prices beyond the reach of ordinary working people who now have to rent which will be used as their landlord's retirement nest egg. You've got to love the selfishness of the rich.

Dont like to call it my "hole" though!!!! My frou frou will do today language wise i think.
Literally cannot use anything else other than Andrex WHITE toilet roll....
If i do then it feels like someone has put acid in me pants.
Enough said dont want to be one of those who make people go "EEEEEEW TMI!!!" (in an american accent of course)

have to agree with msg 115 - maybe the song is true that it's 'different for girls' - I have probably posted on this thread already suspect but I only use tissues (for noses) with aloe vera as cheap ones wear my nose out. These really do make a difference.

I am fussy about some things, but I aren't a snob!.

There are certain things that I have to have that are certain brands. I can't stand cheap Coffee or Tea. Like Mitzi, my loo rolls and household detergents etc have to be a certain brand.

And I have an issue with shoes. Its not so much snobbery, just something that I have 'suffered' from for as long as my Mum can remember. I apparently from a very early age (2 yrs onwards) would look at someone's shoes before I looked at their face and if I didn't like their shoes, I wasn't having any of it.

Its something I have worked on over the years and I am winning the battle. But I do have a thing for shoes. I don't know why, maybe I was stamped on as a child...which would explain alot.

And manners. Please and Thank You go a long way. Little things like clearing your own table in a shopping centre food court, I get really annoyed when people leave their plates etc on the table.

When did instant coffee become posh!? I have some in the house but never drink the stuff, having trained as a barista years ago I am horribly fussy about good coffee and can't help but giggle when people say they're fussy about coffee and only buy Carte Noire/Nescafe

I am a foody and therefore am very fussy about quality of produce but I don't think that would be something to call me a snob about.

Refusing to ever consider living in certain areas, cringing at thick local lazy dialects, the way some people dress (football shirts are for football games if you really must and it's legs or tits, never both at once!) and just dirty, unclean people. Bad manners, rudeness and not using please and thank you regularly really irks me.

As for bad spelling and grammar, don't get me started.

yes, I am a snob but nobody has the inability to better themselves.

thick local lazy dialects

what is wrong with having a local dialect. If you have lived all your life in a area and have the accent, why should other people turn their nose up at that. Now to me that is truly snobbish.

I like local dialects, the key word there is lazy. I grew up on a Scottish council estate with the thickest, laziest accents you've ever heard. I guess a less kind description would be common. I had that accent and have no trace of it now, there's no need. I still have a Scottish accent but I speak clearly and properly so the majority of people have no problem understanding me.

I think what your saying here is that you have moved on from the council estate that you grew up on, and taking on a new accent is all part of that...lots of us have done the same or similar....

But I think its a bit harsh, and deffo snobby, to brand the accent common and lazy. It is what it is, an accent, and people take it on and use it to identify and differentiate themselves, and as long as the people you are talking to understand you, there is not problem.

How would you feel if I called your Scottish accent common and lazy, and that you should change it to an English one because I struggle to understand you?
