When I'm with a lady, I gently touch the rear, and see how she responds. Sometimes it's a 'please don't go there', sometimes it's a sigh of pleasure, or whatever. If she indicates that she's getting into it, as an earlier poster said, by moaning, relaxing, thrusting, etc...then you keep going..if she stiffens up, or otherwise gives you a sign that she's not into it, such as taking your hand and moving it away, then you know...and no harm done.
