Posted: 6/9/2009 11:43:18 AM | This place is more like an entertainment site as far as i can tell. Many profiles and pics cannot follow through with the basic checks of proving who they are. Never ever go on a date with out being 100% sure that they are real.
But don't totally give up on the idea of getting a date though. This place is very much like the real world. You don't walk down the street and see someone you would like to date (various reasons on both sides) every day. The same thing applies here but the odds are very very much higher and against the men than for the women. There are just too many men and not enough women on here. That in turn makes some women think they are gods gift etc etc....
Far better not to bother too much and just have a laugh...

for the record..Ive met women from here..shock..and yes its not easy, sometimes I suppose somebody you like just really likes you.
But everyone on this site is still looking for a partner, no matter what they say.

Duh, no wonder I'm not having much luck ................ I've been trying to date guys when it is obviously just a site where you date women.

I have to try very hard to tone mine down as I dont spend most of my comedic development time devising material for "ladies" I want to date.
There is making them laugh and making them laugh at a comedy club. Two different things.
We all have experience of someone that will laugh like hell at something on the TV and the next thing you are in the dog house for offending their repsectometer for mentioning something far less noxious.
I have been hammered by some people hammered for mentioning a vibrating sex toy in mine after so your colostomy bag routine is going to be a bit too corny and strong.
Just tone it down a bit and talk a bit more about how things make you feel.
MMs is s a good example of the tongue in cheek style and I have seen a UK one for Free Boyfriend. Both these dont mix messages, have a coherent theme. It i s just about tweaking.

You use vibrators? Well done. Manual or battery powered?
I really do have a costomy bag. And yes, the smell comming from that can be a bit too strong for many.
Seriously; I had a serious profile up and running on this site over a year ago. I got very few responses to my emails so i just decided to turn it into a comedy piece. I've experienced so much ignorance and rejection from the women on this site that i no longer take it seriously, hence the comedy profile.
Incidentally, i am aware of someone who did create a profile of a male model on this site and the number of emails he got from interested women was phenomenal. Which just goes to show that it is definitely looks and not personality or character which many women go for. | |

Yes, obviously women are the only ones guilty of this, the guys always mail the old, ugly birds first - they're attracted by their sparkling personalities.

It will always be the case that both men and women will be drawn to the most physically attractive members of the opposite sex. There's nothing wrong with that, it's nature's way. I'm not the most attractive bloke on the block, but I definately go for looks first when viewing profiles. However, as I'm looking for someone who I can go biking and skiing with, if her only interests are shopping and clubbing, I'll keep looking no matter how gorgeous they are. I guess I'm just shallow. | |

Depending on the ratio of male to female, the top 5% males could be dating the top 20% females, so that elusive top 20% of males may be dating so much more!
Though personally I think it is rubbish, I have plenty of success with mails and talking to people because I am genuine, polite, respectful and hopefully funny and interesting. Doesn't always lead to dates and dating but why aim for that, aim for friendship..less threatening and has the potential for more. | |

If you aren't getting any messages or replies then you need to disable the filter settings, I'm not sure how but you have to disable age limits and stuff like that, my mate done it on my profile.
As for experiences well I've jst started talking to this one girl, she's great looking and a brilliant laugh, I'm meeting up with her this weekend so this will be my second POF date.
I think this is a really good site to meet people, I've had the pleasure of talking to a number of interesting women. | |

I was very nearly number two but found out he was hedging his bets with at least 2 of us.... (He sent a smoochy text meant for someone else to me ) That other woman is still in ignorant bliss....for the time being. She is a cop so Im sure she will work him out eventually hahah
So yeah, obviously some men are having all the luck! | |
