| Why Do I See More Caucasian Men Dating Asian Women?
Posted: 4/9/2007 8:40:45 PM | I see it as a threat because I can't look sideways at an Asian-American without being ripped a new one out of paranoia - fed by these lengthy rants - that yellow fever lurks around every corner.
Well, for one, has an Asian woman ever questioned your motive? Didn't you recently date a Thai woman? Did she question your motive? If you dated 10 Asian women within a given number of months, and 1 or 2 out of the 10 questioned your motive, would that be so horrific?
Questioning a man's motives is not limited to Asian women on this issue any way. I ran across an attractive black woman on the internet who was very suspicious of white men. But, there was good reason. They always seemed to want to meet her secretly. They wanted to avoid family contact because they were concerned about family pressure in being with a black woman. But they apparently had no problem with the idea of physical contact, just family contact.
Like it or not, there's racial issues involved with this type of IR pairing. There are with others as well. There's repercussions from exploitation that 'others' have committed. It may affect you at some point even if you don't deserve it. Then again it may not. You may never run into an Asian woman questioning your motives. But in seeing blogs like this, isn't it further proof that there's 'root' problems that need to be dealt with in terms of racism and racial stereotype? Inevitably, some Asian women won't be able to relate to that blog at all, or they don't feel as affected by racial sexism as the author. Some will relate to it, but have had more balanced experiences and can differentiate neanderthals from the normals. And some will inevitably seem to run into those neanderthals often enough to want to write these type of blogs.
At any rate, It sounds to me like you've basically had pretty good experiences with Asian women. But, as whites, we're not going to have the affection of all of them. I wouldn't let that depress you. Racist/sexist/stereotype attitudes that are often expressed about Asian women, are going to one way or another manifest itself, and affect those who may not deserve it. | |

?brains? -- at least the ones I've dated
Again, no different than any other kind of attraction.
Obviously the pool is broader there, thats all.
In my case, I'm not exclusively attracted to asian women or all of them, but I'm attracted to more educated asian women that others I've met.
So far, 100% of the girls I have dated were asian.
Would I date a non-asian? Possibly. | |

The Thai gal didn't - but the third-gen Chinese-American I met last August lectured me on making assumptions when I asked her about her family. The gal I IM'd simply to chat with sometime last year on MySpace accused me of studying Korean simply to 'get at' Korean women.
So when I date Asians, I date first-generation immigrants instead of Asian-Americans, because most of the Asian-Americans I've met have a chip on their shoulder about being approached by white men.
But in seeing blogs like this, isn't it further proof that there's 'root' problems that need to be dealt with in terms of racism and racial stereotype?
Of course there is. But the problem I have with most of the blogs/etc. I've seen is that they, too, generalize or make hypocritical statements. I kept wincing when I read Ms. Eng's essay because a lot of what she asserted were signs of sleazy Asiaphiles could easily be applied to genuinely good men, with valid reasons. But to her, they're all just more reasons to get worked up over this particular boogeyman.

Well angi, without going into my entire life story... I lucked out and fell in love with a wonderful Chinese woman. Her family accepted me and I lived the life of a Chinese "son" for six years until life turned sour and we had to divorce. I'm comfortable with eastern culture, and women who were raised in it. Plus, as I mentioned, I've met a lot of them that are more... broadly(?) accepting of the kind of guy I am. I date Asian women because they date me, and I can relate to them.
Plus, I work for a Japanese company... so I'm surrounded by Asian people of all "flavors" on a daily basis. My life revolves around the far east and its people... so I identify with it. And for the most part, they're happy to have me.
Do I date only Asians? Nah. Last woman I went out with was Indian. (I know, I know, Indians are Asians, but they generally don't get the geisha fetish treatment). I'll date anyone who catches my eye. But I'm most comfortable with women raised in China... and to have to listen to western women similar to yourself who insist it's a fetish and that I just can't handle a "real" woman (which is a racist insult to the very strong woman of the east) gets a little old after a while.
And spode? You're right, as always - I shouldn't take it personally. I just wonder why people are so focused on it, and nobody gives a damn that everyone thinks the primary reason women of other races want to date us white guys is for our money, a green card, or an "in" to "white privelige". Isn't that just as insulting?  | |

Why are you responding to me? Do you think you would consider dating me if I had Asian eyes? I like my Western European eyes the way they are thank you. People tell me all the time I have beautiful eyes. I would never go to a plastic surgeon to make my eyes look more Asian just so I can date white men.
I love my beautiful dark white Hispanic eyes.
But if we must talk about plastic surgury I would seriously consider breast implants.
I love a Marilyn Monroe figure. I seriously wish I was a little more top heavy.

I never said it was wrong for white men to date Asian women. Don't take my words out of context. What I said what when I'm walking in the streets of New York and I see a White man dating an Asian women I get irritating feelings about it because I can only look at that and think they must be dating each other for racist reasons based on stereotypes of white men and Asian women.
Really! I can joke and say the reason why Kurt Cobain killed himself because he knew if the man had it his way we would all be selling our souls to Buddha.
And as far as my comment on Asians and status you only need to look at the way the Asians dress and get a sense that they are status oriented. I don't dislike Asians as a group, but honesetly I'm not the only one that would say you get a sense about Asians for being materialistic oriented by status.
Plus nobody will ever accuse me of being a gold digger because I sincerely date for love. I'm 30 and still single because of it. I could never date someone soley based on status knowing I need a good lover to keep myeentertained in the bedroom.
