I can only go on scientific fact...whether we call it pop psychology or something else it doesn't hide the fact that these methodologies are known to be far too simplistic even by the people that proposed them in the first place.

Seems choices and preferences are only allowed by certain posters when its in their favour.
I was under the impression this thread was light-hearted. It's just that if you're a shorter guy you have to go that extra six inches to impress a taller woman, like this man did:

I wouldn't go as far as that; I bought some Chelsea Boots though, which add an inch. You can also get height extending insoles but they're uncomfortable to wear, apparently, according to friends of mine. ehem..... | |

Father 5 feet 6 AND A HALF inches (never forget the half!). Hated being short, vowed to marry a taller woman so his kids would have the tall gene and not have to suffer being called shorty all their lives.
He met my 5 feet 10 inch mother at ballroom dancing classes, a life-long marriage made in heaven.
When I got to be a teenager I learnt to dance and so got asked onto the dance floor by my dad. Then I realised the hidden benefits of being a short-ass man. His eyes were on a direct level with my cleavage... | |

Posted: 6/11/2009 11:24:41 AM | Well seeing as I'm only 5ft on the dot, I prefer a guy to be somewhat taller than me and I wont apologise for saying so, seeing as I quite frequently get the "I don't like bigger girls" line thrown at me.
However, if I had to choose between a shorter guy who was going to treat me right or a tall guy who would be nothing but a tw@t, then I may change my mind. Although it works both ways, I want to treat someone nice as much as I want to be treated nice. | |

Women are essentially full of fear when they are out of the house on their own. They need a tall man to offer them that reassurance that no-one will harm them.
The tall man is also percieved as the dominant male i.e. the alpha male. Women want alpha males; even dominant women. Smaller guys can be just as dominant in terms of their personality as tall guys if not more so. But sadly physical height is equated with all sorts of positive personalty traits such as status and power etc which sadly smaller guys are percieved as lacking.
Of course this is all nonsense as smaller guys are just as capable of climbing the social ladder and attaining positions of power and influence as taller guys. | |

Some of the shorter men I have dated have overcompensated and been too dominant or too aggressive (not saying that taller men don't also fall foul of this, but when a shorter man does it I find it reminiscent of a small yapping dog vying for attention).
I was also wondering - do men come in proportion... i.e. the taller the man the bigger his manhood? THAT could be why taller men are so popular - whether it's true or not, if it is perceived to be true that would do it. | |

Tall = big and powerful. Small is "percieved as not being this way. I am of average height and i've noticed that when out and about most women are with men a good bit taller than they are. If that is a womans preference then the little guys do have a hard job finding a partner because it would seem that even really small women want big tall guys.
I'm surmising that the smaller the woman is, the taller she wants her man to be. | |

I also find the Sophie Dahl/Jamie Cullen pairing extremely weird to look at. They remind me of Spitting Image puppets ......... she is too big and he is too small.
I have never dated a man smaller than myself, but that is probably because I don't encounter many dwarfs The same height when I am wearing heels is ok as it's quite a novelty for me to look someone straight in the eye; BUT (oops the big but ) I don't select a man for his height or his ability to protect me, I like a man to amuse and entertain me ................ not give me a crick in the neck . | |

I was one of the first female head doormen in this country I'm one of the few female head doorpeople to run a team of over 50 and the only female security person to control a sec force (TRIANGLE) for not only homelands but creamfields and V and many more.
GOOGLE.... dee foreman go to S.F.U. K and you will see i am on the fighter ranking panel and have been involved in MMA since it started, my ex partner and i, andy foreman along with another fight promoter Paddy Mooney were the first people to being cage fighting to the uk. I have balls men wish they had, on this forum men often talk down to women, i look, note, laugh and move on.. because im not insecure but when i read this crap i think/////// are you on my planet? prob not. Please dont act like women need protection, i like a taller man does this mean im incapable of looking after myself? no.
My god short men are sooooooooooooooooo insecure.
