| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/15/2009 10:39:52 PM | The stones were probably as good as asking the Eagles.
At least the prophecy of Bullet Proof shirts at wounded knee eventually came true, but the dancers there fell to the bullets in 1890. It is a great crime of my country, and I weep for those believers who were praying to the wrong prophet. I do not laugh.
The trees in the hills above silverlake weep with me. They have lost another heart in the white man's jungle. It once was said; " The white man thinks with his brain. The Red Man thinks with his heart." I know the Eagles will show you the way home. If not: The very stones themselves.

| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 3:49:48 AM | Anyone notice that when reading the internet about this situation Conan O's show seems to be advertised somewhere near? I saw it myself on different pages where this story was running. Seems kinda odd to me...a little media bliss going on????
I also wonder who gave Letterman that joke to do knowing full well the eldest daughter was not with Palin and here is a question....what party does he actually stand for?
I am NOT Sorry to say that... I believe Palins remark that Letterman was an advocate for statutory rape and sexual perversion is just as disgusting as any joke made at the expense of her 18 year old daughter. Yes, I do believe Letterman believed he was talking about the eldest daughter not the younger one.
Since when did politicians and their families become off limits to comedians?....again referring to Davids admittance he thought it was the eldest daughter who is IN FACT a legal adult so you don't have to say "since he talked about a child" he didn't believe he was talking about a child and whether you like it or not the eldest daughter is NOT a child...but she does IN FACT, have one.
David apologized the first time half heartedly because he felt this was ridiculas..it was a joke..now ad agencies are pulling out...What a way to start the sensoring of our public voices! So, talk about it if you find it offensive but dayum...government (litterally) is really getting involved in the late night comedy world...better be careful...next will be me...and you.
One last thing...when did A-Rod become a rapist? What right did daddy Palin have to refer to him as such? Anyone talking about that? How did getting "knocked up" turn into such a horrible term like rape or sexual assualt which holds a completely different meaning. I did NOT hear anything like that come out of Davids mouth. Anyone with common sense now knows he meant the eldest daughter and to keep talking about about rape and assualt is perpetuating a lie which was first told by the Palins.

| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 5:24:30 AM | | I find his words tacky. Leave kids out of it. If she's this "ambassador" of abstinence, that's what Sarah chooses to support and not other people including her daughter. What she's proponent for is not reflective of her daughter and her daughters own choices. | |

I wasn't aware that any government had done anything in all this. Letterman's a private citizen. He made a joke about another private citizen, her mother objected to it, and he's apologized. Why do you try to cast that as government censorship?
As for which daughter Letterman was referring to, none of us can read his mind. I believe only the 14 year-old one was attending the Yankees game.

mes#2 edit- I find the Palin response to be extreme--typical. Calling him sexually perverted and saying he "contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others."-- Oh puhleeze. Her kid was screwing around, got pregnant and has chosen to remain the limelight with her Abstinence Ambassador role for a cheesy shoe company (have you seen their ads? LOL talk about sexual exploitation
Yes Landra2, this was about the Hypocrisy of the Palin's style, and in the style turn it around to get the public on theirs side and get their shorts all in a knot! Letterman did apology nonetheless because of the mix up who was at the game yet the majority of people new he was talking about the 18 year old. The joke was as about hypocrisy people and to make fun of those who blow smoke your wazoo to make your think their poop don't stink! Anyway,I have to return to my mountain top in Alaska and make sure those commies[the red menace] don't come in and attack us.

| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 8:10:38 AM | Sarah's comments this morning posted on her FB web page:
Governor's reaction regarding Letterman's apology Today at 5:45am Of course it's accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve. Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' about whatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction.

| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 8:29:43 AM | | I noticed that one theme of this thread has been that if the comment was about the 18 year old daughter, that it would have been okay, but that as it was the 14 year old daughter that was in NY w her mom, that it was not. Now the difference between a minor and an adult is obvious. But was it really okay if it had been about the 18 year old? I'm still having trouble with that. I don't think it was right for either really. | |
|
| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 9:08:48 AM | 04 I think you have it right....I dont think it truly mattered who the comment was about ( man, woman, child, adult). the comment was still wrong. For some reason I dont think most got or get the idea. I think most just feel that it was a Palin and Letterman thing. I will agree that once you put yourself out in the public you are going to be open to ridicule and snide comments. But is it ok for us to think that its acceptable or even funny. I think not, but that is just me. When I heard the comment I thought of it like this--Would I feel good if this comment had been made about someone in my family, a close friend, someone I admired or even myself--The answer I kept coming up with was NO.... If you answered NO to the above question then that means the joke was totally out of line no matter the age or at whom the joke was aimed. | |

| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 11:41:30 AM |
My understanding is that Letterman was making jokes about them because of their hypocrisy: the 18 year old unwed mother pushing abstinence. I don't think Letterman knew which kid was Willow and which was Bristol-- they look alike anyway. I find her role as Abstinence Ambassador for the Candies Foundation ridiculous.
The truth be told how Palin has exploited her own family for attention in the media.
And why has Palin only went after Letterman and not Jay Leno[20 jokes about the Palin's] or Conan O'brien[he has done 18 jokes about Palin family]
Joe sixpack, heaven help us.

Probably because there is a difference between jokes about Palin and her family and jokes about sexuality and her young daughters. Get the difference?
Barbe1963: Sorry to disappoint you dear but I don't smoke crack, never have I have a big crack probobly smoked a few chili's out of it..But don't have my head stuck in it like a few people here, maybe even you...
Ah Byrd, glad to hear that it wasn't crack that made you not make any sense in your post , but rather...chili's in your butt crack. Good to know! We may not agree on the issue, but I'm sorry you are feeling under the weather!

| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 3:52:04 PM | Ck out this video, its not quite 2 mins into it....Bill Maher took Letterman's blunder to a further disgustingly levels higher...What the Heck is our world coming to ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg-hV8bOeOQ&feature=related | |
|
| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 4:12:49 PM | Bill Maher really isn't very funny.... and that wasn't aired on TV was it? cause he really said that David Letterman would Fu(k the 14 year old Willow right there on his show, with gestures and everything..... He actually said the F word.... So that wasn't on TV... right?
Anyway... Just stupid... not funny

| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 4:30:36 PM | The slogan for the Abstinence Foundation Little mommy Palin is repping is "I'm sexy enough to keep you waiting" / "Be sexy: it doesn't mean you have to have sex" And young girls can buy and wear a collection of T-shirts with the words SEXY emblazoned across their chests. They're called "Be Sexy Tees" Does anyone else see the utter hypocrisy of Big Mommy Palin saying Letterman "contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors " ? Or is it cool to have your 14 year old daughter wearing a little tank top shirt with the words SEXY all over it? I get the message that girls are encouraged to parade round advertising their sexuality on a T-shirt, but it's "older men" who sexually exploit them. Unbelievable.
The Candies Foundation has made over 500,000,000 million impressions to the teenage audience..... claims Neil Cole, the "older man" mastermind behind the Be Sexy BS.

| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/16/2009 4:51:27 PM | From what I understand Maher is on HBO and taht show was on HBO....so it depends on what you call TV. I myself dont get HBO, and after seeing that dont really think I would want HBO if that is what they call entertainment. | |

Nope. Standard software behavior for any website that has target marketing on it. Go type David Letterman or Tonight show on any website with target marketing and you will find that one of the surrounding ads should be for Conan. If Letterman has a tech savvy marketing department then the reverse will happen if you go type conan on a website.

| Letterman v Palin Posted: 6/17/2009 4:23:28 PM | "is it cool to have your 14 year old daughter wearing a little tank top shirt with the words SEXY all over it?"
Shucks. I had a li'l tank top in black with silver glitter sexy on front when I was 50.
However, if a 14 yr old is wearning such a top then we used to call that being a 'prick tease.' Amping up the sex with no plan on any delivery. False advertising. Believe it or not, considered a sin for a girl to do that to boys when I was a teen. Inciting to lust.
