| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/6/2006 12:02:22 PM | Favourite wrestler ..... Stone Cold Steve Austin Those wars he used to have with Vince were classics , the dont trust anyone thing , and the beer getting thrown in the ring , its not the same with him not there . Mick Foley is a close second , just because of the guy he is , he is a horrible wrestler , but the things he did to stay in the spotlight were unbelievable , and his characters were great , even Dude Love ,lol If you havent read his book , go get it , it was very good . Have a Nice Day !!!!
And thats the bottom line .......

| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 8:10:03 AM | | Even thou he is not fighting rigth now I enjoy Stone cold Steve Austin I wish he was back but with neck problems dont think he would be fighting :( | |

| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 9:58:51 AM | | My favorite right now would be Shelton Benjamin or Chris Benoit. All-time...would most likely be Owen Hart. | |

| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 10:39:54 AM | When I was a kid growing up there was no one more idolized or recognized then Hulk Hogan. To this day he still remains an icon in professional sports entertainment. He is somewhat lost on the newer generation of fans that really were not around during his prime. Good thing they have all the wrestlemanias on dvd.
I still remenise in the 'older' days so to speak when characters were more 'black' and 'white' and really stood for 'good' or 'evil'. The present seems more like shades of 'grey' where characters are good one day, then double crossing their partners or friends the next.
I'm not as fond of the current WWE or the mixed messages it sometimes sends to it's audiences. The idea of men and women fighting against each other in the ring still makes me squirm like we've crossed the line and opened the door to so many potential problems. I know historians will claim that women were fighting since the beginning of time and even in the Roman era as gladiators. Fair enough but we are in modern times.
I don't mean to knock the current WWE. Those that love it, keep watching it. I'm just saying that those kinds of characters like Hogan (back when he was in the old WWF) embodied charismatic qualities, honour, truth and respect that really impacted audiences and made characters like Hogan who they were.

| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 1:52:36 PM | | You have to remember though that most of these so-called "heroes" projected the good guy image in public but lived bad guy lives. Many of them were into the shadier sides of life whether it be steroid use and abuse as well as harder, more dangerous drugs. Although I fondly remember the days when "saying your prayers and eating your vitamins" were preached and golden mantra's to follow, there aren't too many old-school wrestlers that you could say followed the same advice. I think the main difference between now and then is that the curtain that made these guys superheroes has been taken down and we're finally able to see them as real human beings with real weaknesses. I personally like it that way, but I'm not going to lie and say I don't completely agree with you and sometimes wish for the "good ol' days". | |

| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 2:36:51 PM | | I hate to break to you all, but this wrestling is not real. Oh yeah neither is Santa Clause. Couldn't think of a worse waste of time! | |

Like we have never heard any of this before.
Fortunately, unlike baseball, we know that the athletes who are in professional wrestling aren't on STEROIDS!!!!!

| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 5:42:41 PM | | You've got to be kidding me if you think WWE wrestlers aren't on steriods. Know wonder why you guys believe this crap. | |
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 5:56:43 PM | | Do you sit there and watch a movie and believe what's happening on the screen as truth? It's athletic entertainment. The only difference between Hollywood and wrestling is that movie stars have stuntmen. Backstage politics, regional economics, and ruthless ego's affect wrestling as much as they do Hollywood. We (the fans) know it's not "real", but there is no doubting the athleticism of wrestlers. It makes me laugh that every week (sometimes twice a week) some non-wrestling fan wanders into this forum and comes out with the brainless line "It's not real." Just one question...do you do the same for people who post about movies? | |
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 5:58:08 PM | | Oh...and one last thing...since we're on the topic of steroids. The WWE has implemented a drug testing program for it's "fake" sport while Major League Baseball still doesn't have one. | |
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 6:52:41 PM | | Styles i couldnt agree with you more on their life outside of the ring. So many of the wrestlers indeed were caught up in such controversy. A few come to mind as I write this. | |
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/15/2006 6:56:21 PM | Baseball star. We are well aware of the fact that this form of entertainment is deemed 'fake' but fake in the sense that the outcomes of matches are determined. Wrestlers still get injured and even killed if you recall the Owen brother.
Whether your a fan or not, you have to respect the opinions of others. Does it make you feel better about yourself to put others down?
We are just reminicing about the past. No need to be all critical of people here.
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/16/2006 1:00:51 AM | calling it fake is just mindless . the fans know , its a scripted event , its SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT . But the things they do in the ring , overstated , and emphasized , sometimes , yes , but there is no one who can tell me , that those '' fake '' chair shots over the head dont hurt just a bit , lol . Give people a little credit , we know what we're watching , we watch for fun . | |

Oh trust me, those "fake" chair shots over the head hurt. They hurt a lot. I know from first hand experience.

Oh really, damn and here's me thinking that everything was real..you are a fool. We all know that. People who watch wrestling watch it for fun, in the same way that you might watch a sitcom for entertainment. Lets talk baseball shall we? pointless boring, braindead sport. Its all running in a circle isnt it? Some players cheat, its just hitting a ball with a stick..wheres the fun. and who cares anyway. Oh no..Im guilty of making the same sweeping generalisation about a sport you like.
Don't come on threads just to post crap. Especially when you havent a clue about the subject.
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/16/2006 5:43:12 AM | I loved Mr Perfect (Curt Hennig) I guess you form these opinions early on, but as a kid he was by far my favourite wrestler. I think overall with retrospect then it has to be SCSA- hell yeah! | |
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/16/2006 9:42:26 AM | | Hennig was awesome. One of my favorite all-time matches was the IC title match between him and Bret. It's a pity that so many wrestlers have passed away so young. | |
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/16/2006 4:16:02 PM | I was also a big fan of Razor Ramon (Scottie Hall) I guess I went for the heels. Shame he had to self destruct.. | |
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 5/20/2006 2:54:55 PM | | My Favorite wwe superstar is the one and only heart break kid shawn michaels. That guy has done so much and had some of the best match to date such as the iron man match and those ladder matchs with razor ramon were great. It was great to see him make a comeback a few years ago. just wish that they would use him better then fighting those cheerleaders | |
|
| favorite wwe superstar and why Posted: 8/7/2006 6:12:24 PM | JOHN CENA AND ITS NOT BECAUSE HES HOT/SEXY HE IS A GREAT WRESTLER AND HE DOESNT BACK DOWN FROM NOBODY OR TAKE SHIT OFF OF NOBODY I THINK CENA IS THE BEST WRESTLER EVER, CAME INTO THE WWE (AS IN THE NEW COMMERS)!!! | |
