Posted: 6/15/2009 10:14:30 AM | i also checked out of curiousity and want my name removed as well. that being said, i'm a bit confused. is this just a way to get people to notice others? perhaps to do a bit of weeding from the match list, that is too long? saying one wants a date, does not mean s/he wants it with "you" or that they would go out with a person they have not emailed and spoken to for some time. it seems, in this discussion, everyone is assuming the date will take place. where? how? if one member of a particular sex is not interested in the ten "opportunities" , then what? how do you measure success, Admin? you said it was happening in certain areas? how? people are signing up or actually going on dates?
a woman above says it works? what does that mean? someone emailed you or you dated one or more of the list?
curious and thanks for asking. i'm dragging my meetup friends onto this site and want to understand it better. | |

People get a dramatic spike in emails when they sign up to the list. Most people signing up aren't really regulars...
So when does the list actually reset as it hasn't yet.
Is it only when the list supposedly resets that you can add yourself again?
Will you be able to remove yourself at any time as I can see this being an annoyance to some who don't wish to be emailed any longer?
This list is cleared every friday evening (2pm PST). Upgraded/serious members show up first.
2pm is afternoon by the way, and should this list not clear at say Friday midnight, when the Friday night is technically ended - I don't see point of clearing it on Friday 2pm if your intent is for people to stay on it till the following Friday?

It should only be the gender of who you are seeking ...

you have me confused, women showing up "where"? i thought this was just another contact vehicle, not a specific party that is arranged for all to meet. am i not getting it, or were you just joking? as admin said, it appears to be working for the "non" regulars. i have a bed here, so i am a regular. BUT, my door is locked!

Posted: 6/17/2009 10:43:51 AM | well, i jus signed up 2 test it out. no way 4 me 2 know who i'm competing against as i imagine there's tons more guys on the list than girls. i'm really jus curious if the girls who r serious bout a date r willing to take the initiative or jus waiting 4 more emails 2 pour in. cuz i notice there's a remove me button now but the same chicks r still on the list from several days ago n they sign in regularly. it can't possibly b an issue of guys not being good enuf 2 date or too far away cuz i liv in a metro area wit plenty of singles n within reasonable distance.
i aint bein cynical, jus realistic. ive emailed sum of the chicks on the list in the past n got wut? read wit no reply, read/deleted, unread/deleted. guys, u know the story (and sum of u ladies do too). others hav viewed my pro in the past but never tried to communicate wit me. others have mail restrictions n i cant email them. others i hav communicated wit but it was more along the lines of q&a rather than settin up a potential date. but its all wood. we'll c wut happens. i'll giv a more informed opinion on it after this friday. | |

I've not gotten one email from signing up to the list. However, I'll give it some time...there aren't many women listed within 75 miles, and none within 15. | |

However that is not always a Friday Night for me. Could there be a pull down menu with days added so we can specify what day we are looking for a date. | |

Posted: 6/19/2009 4:37:05 PM | it did indeed autorefresh already (7p eastern) n everyone that was on the list is gone. it says june 26 now (my bday  ) n one chick so far has already signed up for it. i signed up for tonight a few days ago n didn't get a single email from anyone on the date night list. i actually got an email from someone not relating to it at all. so there either needs to be more awareness of it and how it works or chicks who sign up need to b serious.
i didnt send any emails cuz the chicks that i could contact, i've either emailed in the past n got no response or i've seen them on here for quite a while before, meaning if they were interested at all, they woulda took action by now. so for me, it didn't work n to b honest, it was expected. i've studied the behavior of people on this site long enuf.
i still say filtering searches n contact ability based on mail settings restrictions is the best possible option for this site to move forward. i still say date night is a good feature but it won't work until other things, like attitudes n behavior, change. n those won't change til site features n navigation does.
signing up for date night meant keeping my schedule open for tonight n having to tell my friends i wasn't hanging tonight (since i'm a man of my word n if i signed up to go out, then i'd make sure i was available to do so). i had a good feeling i was gonna b home (but was fully prepared to go out if an opportunity came up), so i'm jus gonna eat, watch a couple movies n maybe some anime, maybe watch the soup later on dvr, then call it a night.  | |

You'd be surprised. I don't remember who did it, but very recently someone on the forums did ask a question about doing just that. He wanted advice on where to move to find the best women. It went on for many pages. | |

i asked my question for a reason but i never get a full answer from anyone. i've never understood why (single) people move to and stay in a particular area when the dating pool is limited and they know they're gonna want companionship at some point w/o a long distance thing goin on. i'm pretty sure there's a multitude of reasons but i just don't understand it. but i'm seeking to understand. you wouldn't happen to have the link for that post handy would u? | |

I've known several people who met someone online and then moved to be with them...but to take such a gamble like moving just because there's more people to date, in a certain area seems foolish to me. What happens if you can't find someone there...move again?
I want companionship, but I don't want to take such a risk to find it. | |
