In this modern world, there are some words (items / stuff /things ) that are obsolete or at least on there way to becoming obsolete.

In that case, shouldn't the thread be entitled "Obsolete Items/Stuff/ Things"?

Most of the words on the thread are in current use today, so they aren't obsolete.

^^ Well said that man!

OT, I have to say that I've rarely heard the word "verily" used, so perhaps it is obsolete, however, such is life; that very word will probably crop up on thread after thread!!

yeah but gay in the way in which it used to be used as in gay meaning happy, merry rather than somone who prefers the same sex is obsolete. records as in vinyl music is obsolete, hula hoop (the toy), space hopper, rashions, gravy stockings, winching lol loads of things the list is endless.

Is "obsolescence" obsolete or merely obsolescent?

well its makes you wonder if the obceneties of obsolution really makes obsolete objects and words obsolete from daily use or the dictionary?
Or is it that obsolete words are in a rapidly de-generative state but these words aren't quite as obsolete as we thought and may make a come back and then will be obsolete no longer in this rapidly full cirle of modern(yet repetative)chain of events?

MSG 39 Surely you aren't suggesting that 'irony' is obsolete?

MSG 45 Irony is one of my favourites, especially when intentional, and particularly when unrecognised in oneself.

Now I'm confused......how does anyone else know that a person hasn't recognised it in themselves?

Do tell!

I have a milkman, he's pretty old but I think he would be miffed to be called obsolete, and I trust him to deliver what I want when I want, in the same way as he trusts me to pay him when he leaves a bill

And I have seen many a cad on pof
