A quick trip to the doctors for the 5 pill cure and voila your good to go.
Yes... I had it happen once many many years ago whith someone I dated for a few months. I thought the worst for myself. Thought I had been given "the dose" to be quite frank.
So off I ran to the doctors...and the doctor reassured me it can even apparently happen to anyone, anytime, place, anywhere.
This girl should go get checked just to be sure and cant believe she would let anyone near her until she does. | |

Thats the most ridiculous thing I have read for a long time. Seriously I dont know whether to laugh or cry.
Sounds like she has "Bacterial Vaginitis" (knew my nursing training would come in handy one day!). Its not an STD and often just happens. As the poster a couple up says, a trip to the docs and a short course of antibiotics will sort it all out. I am surprised that she has not done anything about it though. I can't imagine anyone wanting to live with it, nor not being able to understand that something is wrong and its not normal. But then again having read this thread and heard that douching is good, its normal to stink after your period and that smells indicate dead fetuses hiding inside you.....maybe I should not be so surprised after all! | |

Smelly hoo hoos can actually be caused by OVERwashing with soaps etc that are not pH balanced. Using normal soaps can be too alkaline and cause all sorts of problems from overgrowth of bacteria to thrush. Douching isn't really necessary as women have a self cleansing ability and douching can even be the cause of problems such as thrush.
Sounds like she has a bacterial infection and the period she has just helps the bacteria to grow in those moist conditions. A trip to the doc for some antibiotics will fix her up.. then she can wash with the pH balanced soap.
I use Dove soap. (The original). It's wonderful.
Bit late for you now OP to suggest this I am guessing. | |

Doctors, gynocologists and real professional people could have answered your question and possibly provided you with information or an over-the-counter remedy to address this issue.
I don't doubt that your unfamiliararity with the female anatomy would cause you distress to no end with this issue.
And I don't ascribe to the theory that you were trying to write some Penthouse/Playboy type forum. I think that you were just trying to let all of us know that even people like you occaisionally get laid... | |

The problem is you're lack of tact has exsasperated an issue this woman is already extraordinarly self conscious about. If you had a small penis and a woman told you sex with you sucked because your penis was too small you might develop an aversion to sexual contact. And hurt your ability to connect with other possible partners in the future
So if her smell isn't your thing, and you have no interest in pursuing her you should at least try and minimize the emotional damage you've probably done to this woman, so hopefully she's not emotionally damaged to the point where she has debilitating intimacy concerns in furture relationships. | |

Seriously, I've had plenty of sex ON my period so I'm not sure what smell you are talking about.
Scent varies during different times of the month but if a woman was aware that she smelled THAT badly then how would she have the confidence to be sexual at all?
If your story was true then it was extremely crass of you to post here seeing that you met her on POF and she's probably read this already and is humiliated. You should have just asked your own doctor or Googled it.
Have you really learned anything on here that you didn't really know before?
Do you eat leftovers from your fridge that smell off? No!
Why? Bacterial overgrowth...probably the same thing here.
Only her doctor would know for sure but seeing as you chose to take the plunge anyways you should probably be visiting your own physician as well.

Posted: 6/22/2009 4:26:30 PM | There are some women on this thread who really know what they are talking about and there are others, that I have to admit surprise me with how little they know and understand their own vagina's.
I actually didn't realise people still douche...its so 70s and has been proved to be un-necessary and detrimental to your vagina. It can cause irritation, bacterial Vaginosis (which I suspect if what the OP came across...no pun intended!.... in his initial post) and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease amongst other things.
As someone above mentioned your vagina is self cleaning. Kind of like a self cleaning oven but far more fun to use. Just washing the outside of it with something mild and un-scented is all the care it should need if its healthy. If you have to cover up a bad odour by douching then something is wrong down there....go see a doctor and get it sorted out instead of masking the problem. Women also dont need to douche to make themselves smell nice down there for men. Vaginas and men are designed to be attracted to each other, I think most men would prefer the smell and taste of a healthy clean vagina then that of getting a nose and mouthful of chemicals and deodorants.
To the posters who think it is normal to smell after your period...its not!
Sure our scent varies throughout the month due to differing hormone levels but it should never be offensive......go see a doctor if it is because something is not right.
As to the ....vaginal stink= rotting fetus. I can't even go there, im actually stunned that anyone would think this let alone air that view in public.
At the end of the day your vagina pretty much takes care of itself without any interference from its owner. Wash the outside daily, wear cotton undies as much as possible (or be really out there and go without them altogether!)...your vag likes to breathe in the fresh air too and eat a healthy diet (probiotics and live culture yoghurts are good for keeping bacteria levels as they should be). But most importantly, if you suspect anything is wrong (lumps, bumps, sores and smells are never normal) then go see your doctor. Look after your vagina and in return it will look after you!
I actually hope the women in question is reading this thread....it may make her realise all is not well and seek the attention she needs. And OP...you deserved a punch upside the head for being so unfeeling at the time. | |
