| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/12/2009 5:34:04 PM | | The fights were pretty good. Was great to see such a dominate performance from Hendo and GSP making both fights look far easier then I would have predicted. I along with many others still don't like Lesnar. The truth is he doesn't have much in the way of a personality and plows through everything with his size and althletiscism. I can';t blame the guy for being bigger and stronger but myself and others resent someone in his position who is untested due to lack of competition and is just plain abrasive. Either way the heavyweight division has never been that exciting anyhow. The last fights there I was interested in was the tim sylvia/courture fight and the sylvia/arlovski fights. | |

| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/12/2009 6:07:29 PM | I'm reading those quotes from the pro wrestlers and I'm laughing, do these guys understand that Brock wanted to get away from that crap and prove himself as the real deal which is what he did? Look I'm sure he still has some friends in that line of work, from what I'd been told he was well liked while in the WWE, but at the same time I was told that one of there top guys said it was "no big loss, he wasn't here long enough to be a real draw anyways" when he left. Now they're lining up and kissing his a out of "pride" for their "work". What a joke.
This is one of the main reasons why I could understand Brock wanting to break away from pro wrestling, not just for legitimacy as an athlete but because these guys live a "Rock N Roll" lifestyle - you're on the road some 300 days of the year, you're busting your ass physically some four to five out of seven nights of the week, don't care how scripted it is I think we all accept there's some kinda pain threshold they have to contend with, you're roiding up, your pill popping and painkilling as much as possible, and (as much as I don't like bringing this up) you unfortunately have a number of these guys crashing, burning, and dropping their bodies way too young as a result. Now can you really blame Lesnar for wanting to get away from all that?
|
| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/12/2009 6:28:15 PM | Professional wrestlers live an extremely tough life style, although I completely disagree with the roiding up comment, as the major organizations of Professional Wrestling have instituted wellness policies.
I think Lesnar and the other wrestlers comments were more in line in the lack of respect he was given by many people who are "experts" within MMA and bash Lesnar for that background.
Also, lets not forget that Bobby Lashley is in the same boat as Lesnar, and many people make comparisons between the two as fighters.
|
| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/12/2009 7:21:13 PM | " I told Frank Mir on our first fight that he had a horseshoe up his as.s....and that I was gonna pull it out and beat him over the head with it"
Brock Lesnar
I couldn't stop laughing.........................!!!!!

Now correct me if I'm wrong here, but from what I've been told in spite of said policies a good number of guys in the wrestling business have been busted for juicing in recent years and that includes people working for McMahon, a standout being that Benot guy who killed himself along with his wife and kid.

| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/12/2009 7:53:09 PM | vince mcmahon himself took roids! i dont feel like googeling right now but im almost positive he admitted it. and i remember watching something on E! or something how vince mcmahon for most of the 90's and before only tested for negative effects from steroids use. go watch the movie bigger faster stronger and u will find the only negative effects of steroids is making you stronger.
brock lesnar is an animal. never known for technique not even when wrestling in college. a cornel wrestler told me he was just so athletic and strong it didnt even matter that his technique wasn't world class but to be a champion its not like he had none.

Not to continue to go off topic, but the WWE's wellness policy was updated in 2006, I believe it was, and has, since the Benoit Incident, become much more fervent and much stricter, but again, that is completely off topic.

| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/12/2009 8:16:03 PM | Lesner is a strong guy, good wrestler but lets not crown him the best ever just yet. Put him in the ring with a dangerous striker and he's done. Kongo is a middle of the pack heavy weight and I know he could KO Lesner. As far as the Fedor chants go lets just remember that lots of guys who were " the best " in other companys get crushed in the UFC. Cro Kop and the ax murder just to name a few, not to mention Jackson.
I'm a POS small time never will be fighter from Alaska and I would fight Lesner in a second. In fact I know of two fighters in Alaska that would hand him his ass, Brian Ryan Alaska Fighting Championship heavyweight champ for one, Pat Lumba would also give him all he could handle. There are MUCH more dangerous guys in the UFC. All he is going to do is ground and pound you out, not break a limb or KO you on your feet badly.

kongo has proven he has no gas in the tank in a long fight....................please?
KO you on your feet badly??? please that punch he landed on Heath Herring would have knocked out a moose....

| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/12/2009 9:36:11 PM | All of the UFC champions right now are bad asses. Every weight class has an elite fighter at the top, can't think of a time that the UFC has looked any better.
We recorded the fights so I watched it again this evening. A fight like Akiyama and Belcher should be ruled a draw. 2 men standing at the end and its really too close to call it a loss for somebody after they fought like that and were still ready to fight. Draws need to be used if there is not an obvious winner, or let it go another round. I mean a fights not really over until someone.......... is finished.
I watched the Hendo Knock Out/Shut Up punchs a few more times, they will be on all the ultimate knock out videos and Hendo probably gets knock out of the year. The "Count" is probably still counting sheep.
GSP is in awesome physical shape for his fights. His upper legs are big, lots of power in those takedowns that nobody seems to be able to stop. Alves looked bad.
Did anyone else notice the excessive slobber coming out of Lesnars mouth? I think he has rabies. Its like climbing into the ring with a bear, but I like the Nature Channel.
|
| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/12/2009 9:49:39 PM | | fedore could tame the bear, and i think couture could in a rematch. but it doesnt matter what i think lol. | |

| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/13/2009 4:20:55 AM | | The punch that he hit Herring with did not KO him, but it did break his orbital bone, causing him to lose vision in that eye for the entire fight. | |

Just to revisit this one - I thought it was close and could of been a draw but at the same time I really had no problem with Aki getting the win, my only problem was the one judge who gave him the match 30-27 outright as neither one of them dominated the match to that point.
|
| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/13/2009 9:19:47 AM | I liked the post-match stuff with Lesnar, it stirs up controversy and those that hate him will pay money to see him face his next opponent which I'm sure Dana White is got to be loving for sure.
Bisping got owned, damn.
|
| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/13/2009 10:14:25 AM | I was shocked..Bisping lost that fight before he stepped into the ring. He looked nervous and twitchy. Why the hell did he keep circling to Henderson's right. He was waiting to get hit. I think even his corner told him to stop circling right. That should make the high light reels for sure..one of the best knock outs this year. On top of that Hendo...does a flying super man dive and punches him full force after he's knocked out cold!
Lesnar is probably the most hate UFC fighter next Diago Sanchez. Brock still think that being an asshole, arrogant and cocky builds fans. In the WWE that might work, but not the UFC. Fans like humble fighters with no excuses! Something Brock is not!
Brock angry!!!!! He's definitely the missing link to neanderthals.

Lesnar may be the most hated man in the UFC, but that is great for sales. If nothing else, Brock learned one thing from professional wrestling, and that is how to promote himself. By making himself the most hated man in the UFC, not only is he going to be a bigger draw, but he is going to make more money for the owners. People are going to hate him, and they are going to want to see him knocked out. It's pure and simple psychology. Tito Ortiz was able to do this. Not sure why Diego Sanchez is so hated, but it's along the same line.
There is an old saying in professional wrestling that basically says "as long as you put a$%es in the seats, who cares if you are hated or loved."

He is the heavyweight champ he has the title around his waist.
he's not flashy and he's not fancy but he gets the job done, hell his 4th fight in the UFC?
I'm not a Lesnar fan but until some one beats him in the octagon they can all just stfu!
|
| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/13/2009 2:44:21 PM | Well not surprisingly UFC is already up Youtubes A with the video clips, so we now present a re-enactment of what may just be one of the greatest and most satisfying knockouts of all time, to the point where I think Bisping would of rather been t-bagged than to have it end like this:

In UFC you don't need fans, and judging by his post match interview, he likes the boos and those who don't like him will pay money to see him get beat, which means more buys & ticket sales.

And this is whine in spite of his post match pr spin, deep down Dana is overjoyed because he knows it's just to result in more a's in the seats, more ppv buyrates, and of course more money in his pocket.
|
| UFC 100 Let the speculation begin Posted: 7/13/2009 6:20:43 PM | Brock may be one of the most hated men in UFC but it'll sell tickets and PPV like hell!
People will pay to see if anyone can shut him up and take his belt. It may not be the most classy thing but fans love it.

Dumb fans love it...I watched it again...what a rediculously boring fight.... If you're tuning in just to see if he gets knocked out...you're probably wasting your money....look at the size of his neck....
That knee didn't even phase him....
Let me remind everyone...if Brock was the same size as all the other heavyweights he would get DESTROYED EVERY TIME....why anyone would want to see a technically inferior fighter dominate a division is beyond me.....
They need to do a TUF to find some super heavyweights and give this madness a rest...
Dana's got no integrity...he turned the weakest division into a big f*ckin' spectacle...line your fat pockets Mr. White....you might as well bring in more WWE stars....

That's your opinion, not fact.
I'd guess people want to see someone get beat up & blood, not if they're technically sound or not. It's a business and controversy creates cash, it's a lot more lively & interesting than this rather than just fighter A vs. fighter B and will lead to more buyrates in the future.
Plus those who hate Brock will continue to shell out money each time to see him get his comeuppance which means more $$ for Dana White, which is what he wants, nothing wrong with that.
