I could prove that White women in the age group 17-25 commit 75 times more violent crimes than Asian women from ages 65-70...

Well that's what is happening to California's economy. They come in with their pregnant wives, pop a baby on the taxpayers dime and then their home free. The baby now has a social security number that can be used to get credit cards and anything else a soc. number can buy you.
Californians would benefit from closing off the borders and deporting a bunch of the people who are here illegally. Our education costs, health care costs, and entitlements would drop. Possibly to the extent we could balance our budget. We can barely afford the pople we have without the burden of more illegals syphoning off our budget. | |

Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas share borders with Mexico...all have bugetary problems by not like Ca.
Texas Has 3 major points of entry with mexico, El Paso, Laredo, and Brownsville, yet has a healty economy.
Seems like Ca. has Way lot more problems than just ilegal immagration. Seems like a whole lot of people...Ca. residents included, are F-ing up a good state...Sorry for Ca.

Maybe you should actually read that article. Texas declared its independence, sought entry into the Republic, and was granted it. Mexico did not recognize this as legitimate, and invaded Texas (America). What would you have had us do? NOT go to war with a nation that has invaded our country?
As far as the aftermath, we paid for all of the land, with the exception of Texas (because it was rightfully an American state) that we annexed after the war, pursuant to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. We did not up and invade Mexico and "take" what rightfully belonged to them, no matter how much LULAC and La Raza fraudulently protest to the contrary.

in this and all other illegal imagration threads, I have endorsed a guest worker program. for profesional and trade/farm workers from any country. But seems most posters to this type of thread are not really interested in finding solutions to a difficult problem...they seem more content to complain.
So now when someone say something funny, ridiculous, or just plain false...I comment to put in Light there comment.

How is a guest worker program a solution? At best it is a band aid. It does not at all address what to do with the millions of immigrants that entered the country illegally. In fact, many of the proposals out there would allow them to stay in the country thereby rewarding their criminal acts and flaunting of our immigration policy.
It would be wonderful of citizens of this country were afforded the same type of selective law enforcement, wouldn't it? Imagine this scenario, 0nly a few of us would actually get speeding tickets when we speed, only the select few would be arrested/jailed for robbery, battery murder...... Only a few dead beat Dads would be pursued and forced to pay their back child support. Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue?
Guest worker programs are a very. very, very small piece of the entire illegal immigration puzzle and it certainly not the way we fix the problem. Any program that rewards the criminal activity of those that entered this country is flawed at best. Additionally, a guest worker program is best designed to benefit this country and the businesses that employ the guest workers. It is not a program that is designed with the sole goal of helping the guest worker. The guest worker is just a secondary beneficiary. | |

This should certainly strengthen the demands for our government to do its job. Since Mexico is encouraging this illegal immigration, our government should cut off financial aid until they do their part to stop this and we need to permanently close our borders.
On a side note, after the last exchange I had on this thread, I am convinced that it is not productive to debate this or any other issue with someone having the comprehension, grammatical, and spelling skills of a third-grader, especially when they claim to have a college education. | |

If this were only the problem. You must also believe that illegals are only doing the jobs that American workers won't do. There is no big lie than that statement.
So many jobs that American workers, especially American workers that were not educated beyond high school, used to do are now done by illegals. Many of the jobs that our teenagers used to take as their first jobs are now given to illegals. When I was young my peers all had jobs in landscaping or as Bus Boys/Dish Washers or as laborers in construction. All of those jobs now belong to the illegals. Walk into the back of the house in almost any restaurant and you better be able to speak Spanish as that is what the majority of the staff speaks.
Illegals are taking much of the trades work that is out there. They have taken the bulk of factory/manufacturing jobs as well. These are not jobs that Americans won't do. They are jobs that Americans don't have the opportunity to be hired for because the illegals will do it for a fraction of the cost.
The Agricultural industry could use guest workers. Migrant workers have been a staple of the industry for years. However, we have a surplus of workers to fill that need. As long as there is an American that is willing to work there should not be any illegal aliens working.

How would that work any better than the current system? When you take a job you fill out an I9 form that requires specific documentation to prove eligibility to work? It isn't Mexico encouraging this illegal immigration.... We are... We have the gift baskets for those who make it here... We don't do anything about it, except to pay their medical and education... and stick them in our jails if they misbehave.
Can Mexico do something about it? perhaps... But we have politicians here.. Pelosi to name one... who is wanting illegals... legal.
I have no problem with anyone wanting to come here, America is a great place to live.... We just need to tighten our belts and cut down on Illegal's coming into the country... they need to stand in line like everyone else.
We have all sorts of new immigrants all the time... But legal immigrants...
Again... Mexico does have this bad drug trafficking at our border... because it's full of holes... But even though Mexico's economy isn't the best in the world, doesn't mean it is hell there... They don't come here because they can't eat there... They come here cause they can make better money and send it back to their families.... They can find a better life here.
It isn't life or death... So sneaking into this country is only being a thief and taking something that isn't yours.
If I want transportation... I figure out a way to buy something... what ever I can afford... Just because I like the fancy sports car with the great stereo... doesn't mean I can just take it. | |
