This is to stop people from abusing it and using it as a recreational drug which is another reason the price is so high.
Viagra does not lead to an immediate and prolonged hard on, you still need to be aroused once you have taken it in order for it to work and as others have said once erection is achieved things follow the normal pattern they would without the drug.
Viagra is probably THE most counterfeited drug and unless purchased from a web site that is RPSGB (Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain) registered, then you really have no guarantees that what you are buying is real.
Of the counterfeit Viagra seized in recent years they have been found to contain either little or no active ingredient (Sildenifil Sulphate) to sometimes 4 times the active ingredient. Some counterfeits have been found to contain borax, lead paint , concrete(lends a whole new meaning to the words "a stiff one") and even rat poison.
One Russian gang when raided were basically using cement mixers to mix up ingredients and then pressing it into moulds and then spraying it with blue road paint!
Anyone buying Viagra from an illicit web site is really putting themselves at risk. At best nothing will happen and you will blame the "drug" at worst you could suffer serious side effects.
I have never understood the obsession people have with wanting to have marathon like sex sessions. Surely it's a quality not quantity thing? | |

This is exactly why you have to have a consultation before you will be able to buy it. Anyone deemed at risk from the side effects will be refused it. In all likelyhood the consultation will be designed to identify those who are trying to but it for recreational use rather than having a genuine need for it and they too would be refused it.
But it's a sad fact that a high % of men with ED (I think it's 60% or more) don't consult a doctor because of the embarrassment factor and it's felt that by making it more accessible that it offers another option to them. | |

And surely everyone who is using Viagra is doing so for recreational purposes, except for a very, very small minority who need it to breed? So who are Boots going to screen out? Those who can't get it on prescription? I don't think so - that way they'd not sell any. I think they'll only screen out those who it would make very unwell or kill, as otherwise they'll make no profit. It would be interesting to know what the wholesale / NICE agreed NHS price is for the stuff - and suss out their profit margins at £80 a go. Bet they are huge. | |

Apart from the obvious physical reactin does it make you feel horny/sexy/get down and dirty as well?
I took this for a laugh when I was a bit younger, I became a tripod, it nearlly split her in half!

Are you classing recreational purposes as someone who has sex for pleasure rather than to breed? I think that's a bit harsh if so. I guess every man whether he has a functioning penis or not has a right to a bit of how's ya father now and then and not just for procreational purposes.
A lot of men have ED of one variety or another, it can be a physcial thing or a mental thing or both. I've had relationships with two such men with different types of it and both were in early 40's but early in our relationship with a bit of understanding and patience they were fine - perhaps I should hire myself out at £80 an erection... got me thinking of a new business venture now.
I'm not saying that I'm really good in bed or anything of the sort (that's a matter of opinion and personal preference), but I am approachable and straight talking and sometimes men with a problem find it very hard to discuss (forgive the unintended pun) and perhaps meeting someone who is happy to discuss anything and is not phased by a willy problem can be all they need to give them the confidence boost that 'cures' them.
We joke about it, I've joked about it with men who have had a problem, but it's no laughing matter if you are suffering, it can make you feel less of a man and it's not so easy to sort out as a bit of lube for a dried up minge is it? (Which I guess is the female equivalent) However, women I know who have had quite advanced cervical cancer treated have been left unable to have penetrative sex (or comfortable penatrative sex) and that's very depressing for them too, perhaps that's more of a comparative example. Although for them there is always the back door, but not quite the same.
Oh whatever... it's awful, if you are a man or woman and want to have sex with your partner and can't it must be totally dreadful particularly if you have the desire but the mechanics are fuc*ed up. I guess we all have it to look forward to but hopefully most of us will be too old to care by the time it comes to us. | |
