A smile, a twinkle and a freindly species. lol
Usually we have enough in common for me to understand the person but enough different for me to be intrigued. I am a very curious cat and I like someone with a touch of mystery.

What makes me put the pedal to the metal?

A great sense of humor, a somewhat quirky profile, but not over the top. He is interested in learning new things, going new places, exploring. He's not hoping to find Barbie (at age 54, I'm in pretty good shape, but I'm not 24 anymore!). I'll always fall for a few good laughs, intelligence, and a great smile.

Been driving standard all my life, so don't need brakes.

That brings up a good point or two. I also do that and can come to a complete stop without touching the brakes, but especially when I'm on my bike I have to sometimes remember to flash the brake lights or I might get rearended.

But how many people go about this whole thing way too carefully like the person who always has their foot on the brake pedal? If you go to slow or all you look for is red lights then that's what you're going to get. It's important to be in the right gear when you're faced with curves and hills so that you don't get bogged down.

oh my, isn't that what auto-pilot is for?
you fire up the buggy, put her (him?) in drive and turn on your gps.
other points to remember:
*watch out for speed bumps
*carry a spare
*have current aaa card

oh, did I mention the importance of a good lube job?
drive responsibly and remember your brake pads.

No idea how to get things moving, I get the strangest messages that leave me pacing the carpet trying to work out what they ment rather than answering the message, this mornings message about nine words which was about a six stone bear, still, sent a nice message back saying it must have been part of a chat for someone else, and got into my box by mistake.

Romance is not to be found on the internet, dating and romance is over ridden by the angst and misery, one word wrong and blocked!

Green Lights are needed:

RED FOR BLOCK AND DELETE

ORANGE FOR YOU SEEM ALRIGHT BUT I DONT UNDERSTAND YOUR MOTIVES (messages ect, lots try humour I think but it is very hard without very clever puncutation)

GREEN FOR - WOW YES LETS MEET RIGHT AWAY.

EDIT found out what the polar bear thing was - it is known as an ice breaker, WTF is an icebreaker? another fricking thing to mess up cyber land, WHY CANT PEOPLE STOP PLAYING STUPID GAMES games are ok if everyone knows the rules.

i.e. he makes a stupid comment, the female makes one back and laughs and then he makes another and laughs WTF sorry I dont get that one at all.

Farceur said:Then it hits you, as if you saw it right there in black and white, that what had been for you a gray area complicated by psychedelic hallucinations impossible to paint correctly by the numbers given, turns out to be irrelevant in the realm of love. None of that matters anymore and it never should have, when all it takes is a smile.

Thanks for the early morning smile. It was a good one..

Time. Unlike a race romance involves time. If my goal is happily ever after I have plent of time to INVEST in getting to know someone. For me in particular their are a few things that make the light change from yellow (my usual mode) to a more greenish tint:

1: how do you carry your baggage? you still mad at the ex. Go heal somewhere and call me later

2: Do you understand that a relationship is based on being able to spend time together and time alone? Do you know how to balance responsibility of your past life (kids for example) with couple time?

3: Do you have a materialistic streak? If so we are going to have a degree of clash. What you own owns you.

4: Do you know how to be a kid? I am a big kid at heart and well in touch with my inner geek. I am ok with that are you?

5: How do you and God get along? are you a Bible thumping fire breathing radical? New ager? Atheist? Well I have my beliefs in place and they are not likely to change on this subject.

6: Probably one of the most important , if not the most important, can we disagree without you becoming disagreeable? I can do this and am most willing to compromise on most things with no problem. But some things are not going to change. It took me a half century to get comfortable in this rapidly ageing skin. I have no intention of changing the things that make me , me just to make someone else happy.

btw good topic Artz

I must admit most guys on here don't get past the green light with me!

Perhaps I'm too quick to judge but I know what type of man I'm looking for so if he send me emails all in that SMS jargon crap then my mind immediately thinks of a 20 year old trying to be cool. I'm looking to date a 40-50 year old man so that doesn't work for me.

Secondly if a guy writes to me but doesn't put a first name after several emails even though I have, then sorry but I switch off. If he's that interested he would show me by being attentive enough to address me by name.

Thirdly, and this has happened many times, if a guy writes to me to comment on something in my profile I won't necessarily be thrilled. I've just had someone write to tell me that Will Ferrell IS funny. We obviously don't agree and wouldn't be watching his movies together so what is the point.

I know what I want and I won't settle. If a man can't get my attention on here then I won't be interested in giving him the green light..................he can have the green banana instead!!!

Communication skills (Ability to talk and listen--- the dynamic duo)
Treating others with respect and kindness
The big goofy grin
The private sly sexy smile
The I am happy to see you hello hug (and hate to see you go hug)
The hug for no reason hug

A green light for me is when they send me an email that shows they were paying attention to my profile, or when I laugh out loud at an email sent or a fantastic kiss that melts me.

Thank you for an uplifting and positive post, Artz. They are few and far between. I love it when I get green lights all the way when I am going from A to B. It can make my day...or more.

Green lights for me comprise but are far from limited to intelligence, a light and easy sense of humor, a cheerful positive outlook on life, a pleasant and welcoming facial expression, a soft feminine voice, a trim and curvy body, long hair, great teeth, one or more graduate degrees, no more than one marriage/divorce, wanting to spend time with me, a lifetime or good decision making, good physical and mental health, financial stability, traditional values and a zest for investigating new avenues of growth.

Gadders, I don't know whether it's because you're now seriously looking for Mrs Gadders, but I congratulate you on the above post. You didn't mention age ONCE! There's not an overly sensitive middle-aged woman in the world who could criticise you about that wish list. You've learned to be PC! (I'm just teasing, not being mean.)

Thank you for your sincere compliment, Friendly. I do appreciate it.

When I meet potential dating partners believe it or not "age" is never on my mind. Mutual attraction is. If one relaxes and lets it happen things do tend to turn out well. Love those green lights!

an artistic man that is very creative and good with this hands. He would thinker and a doer. You know he is not at all impulsive but rather slow and steady. His voice is rather soft but deep and he thinks before he speaks. I can hear him thinging before he speaks. I feel like I have known him for a long time.

He is physically active and eats healthy. He does not have a long list of lovers in his past. He is the type of man that is knows what a commitment is and you can see this in other aspects of his life.

Well said. In addition:

Intelligent
Passionate
Compassionate
Has Integrity
Has great, open communication skills
Share a lot of the same interests and passions
Financially Responsible

a smile that extends all the way up to his eyes ...
an open, friendly smile ...
maintaining eye contact as tho he were so interested in what I'm saying that he's trying to read my thots ...
good posture! weird but that's important! I love it when he has his head held up ...
so a positive attitude ... which is usually what good posture indicates!
flexibility in thot ... a man who can stop what he's planned for the day and d0 something ELSE on a whim ... maybe even on MY whim!
an ability to recognize that someone else mite be right! maybe even ME!
kindness to EVERYONE ... a man who's consistently kind to everyone who crosses our paths ... this should actually be #1 on this list ...
a man who recognizes the Godliness in all people ... and treats them accordingly ...
who has a sense of FANTASY and WHIMSY ... I LOVE whimsical people! people who see fairies dancing in the dusky corner of the room ... or sense the dragons nearby ...
someone who can see the humour in even the most mundane or annoying situation!

I think I could go on far too long with this ... in fact, I probably HAVE! sigh ... I REALLY hope he's out there ... maybe lookin for ME!
