i love this thread!
to the one who keeps changing her name :)
this was written in her buttercup phase.....

ode to the buttercup

scattered among the grass
blowing in the breeze
one might catch a glimpse
of a buttercup
standing tall with ease

displayed upon her stem
there for all to see
a flower so lovely
of simplicity and beauty

now should her yellow reflection
appear upon your chin
then somewhere on your path
you and buttercup
made a connection

so pay attention to her message
she has one for everyone
and in it contains
the sweetest of wisdom

one more for now....
written to the writers on manny's fireside thread
and really to all the poets who post here on pof.....

The Fireside

here by the fireside
a place to come and be
a gathering quite simply
of people speaking honestly
sharing their deeper identity
many feeling daring and free
to open up and let others see
what has created our psyche
to join this hermetic circle
of poets of humanity
feeling like family
growing deeply
and lovingly
as the heat
takes hold
warming
and relaxing
heart and soul
feeling our unity
created so beautifully
rise like the water's tide
as the flames reach high
joining earth with sky
here by the fireside

Although I have read some very interesting posts on various forums..the one that inspires and touches me is only one....JuJuBee.

I am not an artistic guy by any means, I am more of technical guy, and I figure anything I would try to write would probably invoke laughter at the feeble attempts. I write anyway because anything that I write that would even remotely resemble a poem of any kind is written for one reason:

To see JuJuBee smile.

wow...just, wow....

I was afraid this wouldn't take off, there are so many other threads....then I get on this afternoon and lots of visitors! Welcome, and thanks so much.

I've kind of gotten errm, lazy over time, and stopped exploring as many threads as I used to. I apologize to all my friends, sincerely. Part of that is I'm trying to date, and actually get a real life as rich and full as my cyber life is, which requires curbing my computer usage a bit...since I'm pretty content to be cerebral and introverted, it's an uphill battle. Fortunately, my children nag me to get out, and they've learned that from the best....

All I ask is when you write something for someone else, think about bringing it here too...I don't care how many times you've shopped it out before, doesn't matter...

ah, JuJuBee, one of my favorites....I bet you didn't know that...you've got such a sweet nature, and I really admire that.

WeAre1, thanks for dropping those off here! Another sweet natured writer....I've been meaning to stop by Manny's, one of those things I've let slide...

Charlie, let go and write it....

y'all do realize that the only reason that men write songs and poetry
is to get women to take their clothes off. Right?

Tell me NO! It can't be true

Ok doggy burst my bubble. I thought men wrote poetry to express their inner thoughts lol

Same thing Autumn

so are men's inner thoughts totally consumed with getting women's clothes off? hmm...

Well sometimes I've had some really deep conversations with men, but it helps if I don't think they want in my pants...I'm not sure if it's me thinking I can really open up to them, because there's no one to "impress" or audit what I think or say...no rejection to face for being who or what you really are....

I know, I know, real love is supposed to be like that...they say....I'll take "their" word for it, since it appears to be an urban legend for this girl...

Or is it them? Is it easier opening up to me because they don't desire me? Maybe there's something to those books that say we fvck up our best connections because we care too much about the other person's good opinion and change ourselves to keep it...food for thought...

****************************************************************************

This was written when yet another poster became irritated enough to post about the weird last lines in first/last....he was afraid it would stop the thread...and here it is on it's second incarnation....

first, last

just laughs...the end.
not so my friend
just apply imagination
a little verbal transportation
to spin the wheels upon your noun
and turn your adverb upside down
this thread has never stopped before
but stalled a couple days or more
someone will polish up their mind
to pen the poem that breaks the bind
because this is a campfire thread
for all to stop and break their bread
and dip their cup for inspiration
to leave us with the transformation

a poem for sarah then.......
Hi my name is Sarah
she smiled,I laughed
she sighed,I shrugged
like Atlas
her eyes hidden by a tint
but not her thoughts
they were so real and raw
for one so youngish
I had so little on my mind
she so much,as if I were blind

For Joro....
here rests Joro
peacefully
so let not there be sorrow
do not shed a tear
he'll write some more tomorrow

Brizo...girlll....you made my eyes water...thank you.

Hey ChasB!
You got the girl...
Smiling from head to toe.

Shouldn't this be a sin?
Enjoying laughing...what we know
Yes, I'm wearing a grin

Brawn...you are a turkey.

I'm missing two triplets of late
Ash...& Edie
Three hearts tried
Tested
True
Midnight music head long run ons
Thought ya knew!
Different ages
Places in life
Yet hand in three...we walk side by side

Loving this, Brizo-greatest thread yet!

I'm missing miss Ash too, not too sure who Edie is...I probably only know her screen name...

this was written for Sophia when she left...I was missing her lyrical mind and her extraordinary talent...

Sophia

ah, it is the manner of this place
that causes you to fall in love
with another's grace
it matters very little
male or female
the ties that bind
are formed from mind to mind
and so it is with sadness
we watch you turn and leave
forgive us, lady
we wear our heart upon our sleeve

JuJu...

Glad you are smiling...

But if it is a sin for me to win
Then I will gladly face the penalty for my place
In love's race.
So long as I get to hear your voice in my ear
And see the smile on your face

see Charlie....not bad, not bad...

Brawny, you'll give me a big head...but thank you, sincerely. Sometimes I just don't feel very attractive, and it's nice to hear.

Fission, thanks for stopping in! And with a double header...

This was written for Autumn, Ravin, Sophia and Woobs...

aria

I listen to the cantatrici
with my heart
melodic pens applying subtle art
spinning language into songs
approaching the cadenza
one by one
capturing the moment
with cachet
grace that lingers
as the last notes
fade away

For Mandrake on Fireside with much love:

I will sit at your feet
as you tell of of long ago
times that moved in cadence
gently washing over us with thier ebb and flow

I will stand by your side, M
battling facietious and unwise
shoulder to shoulder taking on the world
one at a time

I will hold your hand to comfort you
as those we love leave too soon
when tears flow unchecked
*edit* hearts realize the comfort of friendship

thanks for keeping this going....

Polly Pisces

Polly Pisces pretty fish
men would like you on a dish
but I like you for your mind
the rhythms your words tightly bind
and make me read a time or two
wishing I was bright as you
I'm your friend, though often late
and like the Guinness, which you hate
though I'll admit it's sipping stuff
not like that light beer fizzy fluff
so pat yourself upon the back
for cleverness that some folks lack
(and Erik can't get spanked enough
I hope Cyn's arms are really buff....)

      My Poetry ~

To some degree I write for me
Other times it is for others to see
Words that are written pleasing maybe
Expressions truly shared … are all to be seen

SeaHorsey, welcome and thanks....

the path (for drea on her birthday)

the tree people
talk with leaves
that rustle secrets
and earth wisdom

while she dreams
the old ones visit
they walk her path
and whisper true

she weaves in daylight
everyone she loves
within her view
the other side behind her eyes
stands gazing at the new

That was beautiful Brizo and it fits Drea perfectly. This one I wrote for Ravincause after meeting her and staying on her farm for a night.

North of Norwood

A cacophony of sounds
Waking up displaced but content
A mare neighing to her foal
Cows in the sunlight waiting to be milked
The soft snore of a man’s dream
And the musty smell of earth everywhere earth

The commune rises in the morning mist
Nomads who are tired of the demise of mother earth
Spread their blankets out beneath the rising sun
To break bread and build fires of friendship they come
Children running round in a field of beginnings
Their hearts beating to the sounds of homemade drums
Sweetgrass purifying the hearts of poets
While the guitar serendipitously strums.

^^^^^^I was so downcast that I missed that poetry festival....

Sorry I didn't write you a birthday poem this year hon, the muse is seriously absent....I'm just grateful for anything she leaves at all...

this is the one I wrote for Ravin's birthday...

Happy Birthday seeker of light
this is the year it all will come right
creation, destruction consuming its tail
the cycle continues life's song without fail
we age and learn to view life at an angle
stepping out of the knot of avarice's tangle
what once was important gets moved to the back
we discover new interests and knowledge we lack
dawn's on the horizon and welcoming you
inviting you forward with an enticing view

HAPPY BIRTHDAY K......

These were written for/about Donna (the late Cdn Reader):

How quiet you are!
It seems as if
every day you grow more silent
as if you were delving
into layers of unspeech
previously unknown
to the truculent,
the deeply hurt or the profoundly deaf.
*
Talking with Donna

You may talk with hundreds
and still feel unheard,
unassuaged, or

you can talk with one
and feel as if hundreds
have been listening attentively
storming love your way
*
Donna, the day before

A silence settles back
over the day just past, a day
I spent talking, to everyone within reach,
of my grief over the imminent death
of my friend. I talked
and talked
and everyone was sympathetic

but my grief was not assuaged

and my words and theirs
were swallowed up by the silence
encroaching from later on
*

And this one was written for Brizo, inspired by the metaphor of a bird in the poem she'd posted just before this:

Birds in adjacent cages
pondering
each other's dreams.

Alright I got one. Well actually a few
But guarantee everything
he writes, I read
And that's the lowdown dawg
Cause, mainly he tells it like it is
Funnier than shit
And one don't have to scratch their head
Trying to figure out some metaphor
Cause he tells it like it is
And when he's on, that man's a poet
But it don't matter if he's on or not
In fact he's like Johnny Carson
Who was the best when he was bombing
Alright that's enough, before he calls me a faggot again... :)
