Posted: 6/22/2009 3:14:48 PM | Since 1996, I haven't been married. I lived with one 3 yrs, he never worked. When he did the Dr. Jeckyll Mr. Hide thing after 3 yrs, I found out he was on crack cocaine.
A few yrs after the breakup, met another lasted 3 yrs, younger son went online to www.illinoisstatepolice.org, found out he tried to molest a 4 yr old boy in 1984. I haven't really dated since 5 yrs. I was so turned off by running into a pedophile. Luckily, nothing happened to my child. | |

Since then, have only done some dating... the longest being about 3 months... but nothing exclusive or semi-exclusive.

Posted: 6/22/2009 6:38:53 PM | I was single 5 yrs between husband 1 and husband 2 and now 22 years not dating 16 of those years due to wanting to concentrate on raising my wonderful sons.
Due to my previous marriage I also wanted to learn to love myself and learn to make the next serious relationship special (hence a little more selective) Have dated but nothing committed (not by my choice) lol. | |

The guy I was with before was for around 4 years - there was an 8 month break before him (i swear to god, i think that was the world's longest rebound...) and the guy before that was 4 years but long distance for all but a couple months of it. | |

Posted: 7/2/2009 12:12:15 AM | Eight months, after a four year relationship, which thankfully ended up with us as close friends with no ongoing issues (yes children, it does happen!). Eight months is long enough for my mother to flip out and insist that I join an online dating site because apparently eight months with only a few dates is long enough to spell DOOM and SPINSTERHOOD when you're 22. I think she's just terrified I'll never give her grandchildren.
I think after reading this thread I should really tell her to take a chill pill huh? | |

So I'm not single any more, thank gawd. Plus... when I became single I had a 6 year old daughter. The last time I had sex was her conception... Thats a LOT of sex-deprived years!!! Blimey... no wonder I still feel like I'm playing catch up!!  | |

I was alone as a single mum from April 1997 til March 2006 when I went totally crackers and had a 3 month fling... lol. Then in December 2007 I met my fishie here. So I'm not single any more, thank gawd. Plus... when I became single I had a 6 year old daughter. The last time I had sex was her conception... Thats a LOT of sex-deprived years!!! Blimey... no wonder I still feel like I'm playing catch up!!

And trust me, it's not by choice. I actually prefer having a steady girlfriend. I've has enough sexual relationships in between with girls which I was not interested in for long term (and no I never led them on). But the ones that I have been sincerely interest in seemed to drop me for no reason. Seriously...for NO reason! Just one day we were establishing a great relationship and the next day...can't get in contact with them. | |

Posted: 7/2/2009 9:49:20 AM | Most of my life. I am 46 and I was with my husband for 9 1/2 years before he died (he has been gone for 4 1/2 years). I was with my first husband for 3 1/2 years. Other than that I have had no long-term or short term relationships. I haven't even really dated anyone along the way. Made a few friends, tried to look at something with two guys since my husband died, but nope, nothing. So, that makes the majority of my 46 years.
I suspect that will also be the remainder of my years. That is fine with me, just gonna enjoy what I have in each day! Yup, it is by choice, I choose not to put up with anyone else's shit. I know where I am going in MY life, that is all that matters!
