It mostly depends on your own attitude, what you ask for in your profile, how much trouble you want to take for someone and if you are really totally honest.
For exapmle: 'I despice people without a pic in their profile'. It is like they have something to hide or just too lazy to leave a picture... I rally hate it when they put something like 'a romantic picture or a cartoon' in their profile... because i just want to SEE who i am DEALING with, not just some stupid cartoon or some 'waterfall' or a flower in the profile. This is the stupidest thing.
I think people should be honest about themselves.
Actualyl online dating is a wonderful MEDIUM, but most people who DO online dating, they really SUCK BIGTIME!!!! no honesty, and because most people do 'mass-dating' it feels like you are numbe 'so and so' before someone met you actually.
I also HATE it when people ask me questions that are already 'answered' in my personal profile. It's like they just take a quick look in me profile, without even bothering reading the profile!
It's hard to find this little fishy in this HUGE OCEAN!!!

As for those who suggest spending more time on a profile...I have spent hours writing some of my profiles on a couple of other sites that have reams of questions that one answers to give insight into who one is. I love to write so I don't find it a chore and I am honest to a fault so the picture is very much who I am and as complete as words can make it.
It has nothing to do with the quality of my profile. It has a lot to do with the quality of some of the men who frequent internet dating sites. [I cannot speak to the quality of the women as a whole as I don't attempt to get to know them or make a date]. | |

I read the profile and I look to see if the person has actually read my profile or if they just looked at my pic said hey she's cute and sent me a msg.
Also if the first email is a novel. I won't read it.
It's all about the presentation of the message. was the person original does he stand out from the rest.

First, 13-1??? that's a horrible ratio!!! But am I right to assume that even if the ratio was one to one, it'd STILL be the girls that get all the e-mails and get to pick and choose rather than the guys? Why is that?
Sites like this would REALLY be fun if it was manditory for both genders to write to a few people right when they sign on for the first time hehe - wouldn't THAT be interesting? Being the first to write a message is harder than responding (even easier if you're just not responsding haha), but there's no point in blaming a gender imbalance in practice if teh ratios aren't even equal to begin with. We just need more women to join!!
btw - I've never gotten any responses anywhere either. And no, I'm not whiny or agressive or a sex-fiend. I'm begining to suspect I simply don't have a good picture, or I write to all teh wrong girls lol =( | |
