| UPDATE**UPDATE**2nd Annual Shelby Farms Picnic - September 19, 2009 - Memphis, TN Posted: 9/11/2009 8:45:47 AM | Hey Tonia, I am looking foward to seeing everyone. The picnic last year was my first POF function, and I felt right at home with everyone, even though I was there alone. Did not find my mate, but made lots of friends. If you need me to bring anything additional, just let me know. I will bring a couple of chairs, too. Betty | |

| UPDATE**UPDATE**2nd Annual Shelby Farms Picnic - September 19, 2009 - Memphis, TN Posted: 9/11/2009 9:40:07 AM | Hi Judy,
To answer your question: To season new cast iron get some shortening or lard (not veggie oils) and, with a paper towel, liberally grease the inside (and lightly coat the outside) of your cast iron. Then place the pot on an old cookie sheet (or cover one with a sheet of foil), and bake in a 300 degree oven for about an hour.
To maitain the iron after each use do the following: 1: If it's a skillet you use ONLY for cornbread, just wipe it out with a dry paper towel put it away. 2: If it's a pot that HAS to be washed after using, wash in hot soapy water then place on a hot stove burner to "cook" it dry. DO NOT leave to drain or put in dishwasher. After it's dry, very lightly wipe a small amount of shortening or lard over the entire inside and put it away. | |

| UPDATE**UPDATE**2nd Annual Shelby Farms Picnic - September 19, 2009 - Memphis, TN Posted: 9/11/2009 1:03:42 PM | Betty, You haven't seen my testimonal yet (I'll bring you a copy) but in it I said that you and Mike were the first 2 people to greet me at last years picnic. Mike was at the grill and you took the potato casserole out of my hands. The two of you made the knot in my stomach go away. Lots of fun memories. Tonia | |

| UPDATE**UPDATE**2nd Annual Shelby Farms Picnic - September 19, 2009 - Memphis, TN Posted: 9/11/2009 3:28:15 PM | Tonia, I am still so green on this site, my Prince Charming probably sent me an email, and I did not see it! Don't know a thing about testimonials, but you are precious to say that. All I remember is that beautiful blonde and vivacious personality ( you ). I thought - if only I could be like that! It will be good to see you, and all my POF friends. Betty | |

| UPDATE**UPDATE**2nd Annual Shelby Farms Picnic - September 19, 2009 - Memphis, TN Posted: 9/13/2009 1:43:10 PM | Hello and a big welcome to dec0988, mzann, & d.perkins. This is a great group of people and you'll have a blast.
Dec0899, thanks for the offer of charcoal and lighter fluid but another member is bringing 6 bags. Bags of ice in a cooler with soft drinks would be wonderful. Can I put you down for that?
d.perkins, thank you too for the offer of forks & spoons but another member gave me 600 of each and they're sitting on my kitchen table. But the knives, plates, cups and if you could throw in some napkins would be greatly appreciated.
See yall on the 19th. | |
