| Why do men find it so difficult to date single mothers? Posted: 6/23/2009 4:59:31 PM | A single woman may very well be a great woman & sexy, too & I only speak for me: I WANT MY OWN CHILDREN, NOT YOURS.
Every man I've known to take on another family has suffered. The kids are not nearly the darling little angels [& these are good men I'd trust with my sisters; I don't keep A.holes in my circle of friends] EVERY SINGLE 'baby momma' claims. Look, mostly they're just after a man for the money he'd provide for the kids--he's never been there to actually help raise his step-children & this proved when a man puts his foot down & the kid into his or her nasty & little disrespectful place, & 'baby momma' screams, "YOU CAN'T TREAT MY KID LIKE THAT!". The darling little angel soon learns to smirk about that & very soon a man is miserable & undignified.
Look, I enjoy the company of children & want my own someday. But I have NEVER seen the situation work out for men I've known to take on the responsibility. I know a buncha you fattened women with a brood of darling little angels 'who are your life' are gonna be greatly incensed by my position & my "outrageous & cowardly & misogynistic" remarks, but I don't give a fck. Most of you are entirely too stupid for me to waste my time on, yet for some reason a buncha you keep sending me messages.
Just keep your nasty little turds & your fat, miserable ass away from me!

| Why do men find it so difficult to date single mothers? Posted: 6/23/2009 5:10:01 PM | | Personally having kids is not a red flag. It is the most wonderful thing in the world. How can you say it may suggest irresponsibility or naivete. And you know what we are not in high school anymore. We are all grown adults, well at least most of us. I was married for 10 years. When one day my husband came home and said he was leaving me and my 4 year old son for another women. So next time any man see a nice girls profile and that she had kids. Well you better not be so judgemental right away until you find out there situation. I am a wonder mother and any man would be more than happy to date me. And if the kid thing bothers them. Well there are so not worth it any how. | |

Ah yes she just had to turn it back on the guy
Not at all. My point was for her to keep looking, not that is was the guy's fault for not accepting her situation. I would not want my son to take on someone else's kid at 20.
When I was 20 I met a great guy at a club that informed me after 4 dates that he had a 3 year old. I walked. Why? Because I was not ready for that, I was a college kid and had my entire life to play Mommy. He was a nice guy and I hope eventually met a wonderful girl. I just wasn't it.

| Why do men find it so difficult to date single mothers? Posted: 6/23/2009 5:26:27 PM | You know what. when I am dating a guy. First of all I am not looking for a Dad for my child. Thanks but he has one already and no one will ever replace that. And any one that does have kids, Know that they always come first in you life. When you are dating a single mom. Just be the childrens friend first. Then things will all fall in place if it was really meant to be. Men really have to get over them selves. Try putting someone else first for a change. | |

The problem I see in that those couples didn't talk about how to discipline the kids. It's another one of those conversations that the mother and the stepfather/stepmother need to have. The way I see it, if their style of discipline doesn't mesh then the relationship will never work. No child or adult for that matter is a complete angel and some parents let their kids do whatever they want with no boundaries. BUT that doesn't apply to all situations where there is a step parent in the picture.
I met a couple a few months ago. I was introduced to them by an acquaintance. There were three kids (one of them was a friend who was hanging out with the son), but I thought the guy was the biological father of the other two until about an hour later when the girl called him by his first name. I really couldn't tell that it was a blended family. The kids were nice. I know teens can be hell on wheels, but I didn't sense any of that teen rebellion crap and they really liked/respected their mom's husband. I found out from my friend that this couple hadn't been married all that long, but had dated a few years. So it can work. It all depends on how the kids are brought up.

| Why do men find it so difficult to date single mothers? Posted: 6/23/2009 6:04:25 PM | Well a few key things I gathered from your profile by just skiming it. 1 you work 55 hours a week, you have a kid when do you have time to really invest in a relationship. Somtimes its better to stay single while you are going through that type of life.
Next YOU SMOKE OFTEN, most guys dont like girls that smoke even if they smoke themselvs.
Finaly your 20 years old and you have a kid. That means somewhere down the line you were not responsible. Plus your 20 you should be out having fun with your friends in college not looking to date online.
Im 26 and I have a daughter from not being responsible. Im single and it feels like me having a daughter is a burden on a girl if I date her. But I love my child and Im sure that will not be the case.
Those are just a few suggestions. one of which you can do somthing about QUIT SMOKING WE DONT LIKE A GIRL THAT SMOKES ITS NASTY!!!!!!

| Why do men find it so difficult to date single mothers? Posted: 6/23/2009 6:19:50 PM | Reading the posts I think it is all about the man. Men who do not date single women do not date them ( and this is purely my opinion) bcuz they don't want to commit anyway. They are not looking for a long term relationship on any level. They are looking for 1 night stands, booty calls, and someone to hang out with. And age is not a factor. There are 40 yr old men who won't date single women and their are 20 year old men. I understand the 20 year old. (They want to party and hang out at the skater rink) I do not understand men over 30. To say single women want a man to take care of their child can be true for some women but not for most. The same way a lot of single mothers didn't get pregnant in their teens or by some dude they met at the club. A lot of single mothers got pregnant in their 20s -30s and they were in long term relationships or married.
I haven't had as much of an issue as I do not have drama with my ex-husband. Enough time has passed that we are not enemies and we don't care whom the other dates. Jealousy and ignorance isn't an issue for us.
I do agree single men don't want to be put 2nd. I have seen couples marry and have kids. And ironicially the man after a few years leaves. He wasn't ready to have kids. He misses his freedom. He wants things to be like they were. ( Don't you hear the I, I, I in this?) Then he leaves his wife for that life he misses so much and leaves the woman to be a single mom. How ironic that now SHE can't find a date now. This guy leaves his wife and kids for the single life and she is pegged as the irresponsible one. She is pegged as the one with baggage and not worthy of dating.
My advice to you is meet men and just be friends. Be friends for a long time. I was friends with my SO for a year before we took it to the next level and became committed. This way when you decide to take things to next level they know you have kids. They have spent time with you without your kids. And as your friendship flourishes you can decide whether or not you even want them for a long term relationship and if they want a l/t with you.
And as the single dad stated those men aren't even worth the effort. Ironic those men who don't date single moms and those women who don't date single dads are still on the market. When you find love and happiness a lot of them will still be on the market complaining they can't seem to meet any good men or women...

You may not be in high school anymore, but the poster to whom you are responding was speaking of girls who did have their children while in high school.
Personally, having kids is a red flag. To me, it might suggest irresponsibility or naivete. I'm not suggesting that YOU are irresponsible or naive, but I know girls from high school who just were plain stupid and ended up with kids when they weren't ready to support them financially and otherwise.

I don't see how you can expect a man to want to jump into a relationship and have a family with you with that kind of attitude.

| Why do men find it so difficult to date single mothers? Posted: 6/23/2009 6:48:13 PM | | The thing is those who won't or don't single moms will finding their dating pool shrinking as they grow older and get into their 30's or 40's as it will be harder and harder to find a woman who is childless. Same for the women who don't want to date a man with children. | |

Raising kids is hard. Dating a woman with kids is easy. You do or you don't. Stop the madness.

| Why do men find it so difficult to date single mothers? Posted: 6/23/2009 7:00:03 PM | Because most men and women have a very narrow idea of what love is - most include some sort of typical romance, some sort of wanting to see someone alone a few times a week, they want someone to travel on their whim and they want some sort of end goal that results in living together in some fashion resembling traditional marriage. When a person has children - male or female - most don't want to go the extra yard, they don't want to share, and they assume it will be hard or messy. Most make assumptions based on the majority - in any given catagory.
It won't get any easier as you get older. I'm 46 with young(ish) children. I didn't know this one point (added with a couple other key requirements most men have) made me so utterly unappealing. "You're children are how old?" The very things I love the most.
Go on about your life as a very responsible parent, taking care of your children to a high standard. Keep looking. Love will come to you if it's meant to.

Ya well you should look in the mirror buddy. Your f**cking ugly. And with that additude you are going to grow old a very lonely man.
Jerk
You have a great "additude" yourself.
Perhaps he is not the only one that needs a mirror.
P.S. I'm still trying to figure out how to fit 2 censored letters are 6 non-censored ones in a 7 letter word.

Oh but I wish we could...these threads always end up bashing men......
I'm a single mother and women who says things like
First of all I am not looking for a Dad for my child. Thanks but he has one already and no one will ever replace that. And any one that does have kids, Know that they always come first in you life.
and
Men really have to get over them selves. Try putting someone else first for a change.
really piss me off and to them I suggest this...
If you are having trouble finding a man to date you, it has a lot more to do with your attitude about men than your being a parent.
I think it is time for another poptart analogy......... hey soldier, wake up dude, we need more comic relief.....

| Why do men find it so difficult to date single mothers? Posted: 6/23/2009 7:25:38 PM | | dont forget woman can be aggerevsse at the start cause its a protection thing we do to stop out selfs from getting hurt all over again. And it dose take time for us to get use to a guy special if we have had a really bad past relationship. just give it time and talking helps at times too to understand each other. but nothing happens over night. | |

| Why do men find it so difficult to date single mothers? Posted: 6/23/2009 8:29:55 PM | Sorry IAITsoul.... I am not in the mood for comic relief.
I just read:
Men who do not date single women do not date them ( and this is purely my opinion) bcuz they don't want to commit anyway. They are not looking for a long term relationship on any level. They are looking for 1 night stands, booty calls, and someone to hang out with.
And the epic stupidity almost melted my brain.
You'll have to excuse me now.... I need to go drink some Drano and then head to the bar so I can find a 1night stand, booty call, or someone to hang out with...
Since that's obviously all I'm looking for due to my preference not to raise another man's spawn.
