| sherlock101 Posted: 8/10/2009 12:36:28 PM | Best one is---Men my age are too set in thier ways, I'm not and want someone who has a zest for life" Makes me laugh because if anyone is over 35 and is not set in thier ways in some way, then they are so full of bs. I want someone who likes to travel---that is another one. In other words you better have money because this woman has alot of disposable income. | |

| Dating cliches Posted: 8/10/2009 2:02:38 PM | | "looking for a genuine guy" "Looking for a nice guy" "sense of humor" "i need a tall guy because I wear heels" Or under a category they say "just ask" | |

| Dating cliches Posted: 8/10/2009 2:16:44 PM | | "How is it you've never been married?" | |
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 8/10/2009 2:39:33 PM | Anything filled in with "prefer not to say" - what is that? And "ask me". Ok. Oh - or, instead of wasting my time, I'll just go and look at the thousands of guys who bothered to fill things in on their profiles the first place.
But the most vomit inducing is anything mentioning 'looking for soul mate' 'looking for my other half' 'looking for who completes me'. Gag.

Now that wasn't very nice thing to say Ginger-kitty. If you read my profile then you know the first thing I say about what I'm attracted to is an adventurous soul and I have been contacted by some women who are as you so eloquently described as fatties. Although we all have our preferences I'm looking for a life mate and it would be horribly unwise of me to just look at the superficial side.

| Dating cliches Posted: 9/16/2009 9:08:28 PM | El Mariachi you're right. Initial dating is seeing and hearing a bunch of politically correct, cliched stuff in the beginning that may well prove to be false later on. But in spite of all that STILL HAVE FUN AND GET TO KNOW THE PERSON FOR YOURSELF.
P.S. One of my favorites is"not looking for sex" when you taking pictures with your ass all over the place.

| Dating cliches Posted: 9/16/2009 11:28:38 PM | I ALWAYS stay clear of male profiles that say no drama or games. That typcially means they play games are and are full of drama. | |
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/16/2009 11:30:08 PM | | Looking for a real woman/man is the next one that doesnt make sense. | |
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 7:49:49 AM | | Well Miss SweetandUnique I say "no drama" because I live drama free and not trying to involve myself in any. When I say "real women" I mea women who carry themselves with dignity and class like a woman should. Just wanna clarify that on my behalf. | |

| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 8:29:20 AM | Not that it means anything to those who actually say the following but the three cliches I see the most that really get under my skin for some strange reason are:
1. "Not looking for a one night stand... move along", which isn't exactly a cliche, but when this turns into a rant a paragraph long, which reads "but to all those guys who only want one thing" or something to that effect "I'm not interested... don't expect to change my mind.... blah, blah, blah, blah". To me it just seems they want to advertise the fact that one or two people harrased them with a dirty picture or an unwelcoming pick up line.
2. ""If you want to know anything else just ask" Since when was this a game of twenty questions... and on the flip side, this usually follows the cliche "No Games"
3. Starts out like this "I have a kid/child/baby...." then moves into this "he/she is my world" just those four words in the second clause for some reason grinds my teeth, not the fact that they have a kid. For that I say congratulations.
At first these cliches didn't bother me because they weren't cliches yet. lol. I guess that was four cliches...lol.
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 10:03:13 AM | "I have kids, they are my world and they come before ANYTHING or ANYONE else!!"
That should pretty much go without saying, shouldn't it?
Yet I read that line or one very similar to that on pretty much every profile I come across that is written by a woman that has kids.
And to all the women that like to include that line in your profile...well; ummm...good luck with that!!

| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 10:57:55 AM | Looking for real men/women
As oppose to WHAT? That blow up doll at Adam and Eve's that you've been using for the past 8 months for $19.95??? I am just saying
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 11:29:03 AM | I looked at the tone of the profile moreso than paying attention to so-called "cliches." Personally, I honestly do love walks on the beach and absolutely want my ltr partner to be my friend. I live 15 minutes from the beach and my bf IS most definately my friend, my best friend in fact. Makes for a solid foundation. | |
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 12:10:38 PM | Profiles that mention....fireplace, wine, a walk on the beach, cuddling on the couch. You get the idea!! Too bad that hundreds, if not thousands of guys who put these in their profile don't own a fireplace, or even live within a hundred miles of a beach. And those who mention cuddling on the couch are looking to do much, much more than cuddle, that is if they can keep away from the remote, lol!
The profiles that mention...no baggage, or baggage-free, are another major turnoff for me. Who reaches their adulthood without amassing some baggage along the way. What matters is what we do with it!!
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 12:40:13 PM | I like to have fun! no drama please! I'm laid back(please don't look at my profile)! I love to laugh! I try to live life to the fullest! No players! I'm tired of games! Oh,by the way,did I mention that I have a penis?(okay,so I added that one,it's probably on someone's profile somewhere)! | |
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 1:19:58 PM | | "Looking for the perfect woman/relationship"..obviously didn't get the memo, nobodies perfect! | |
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 5:26:41 PM | This IMO is a huge dating cliche: "Some of the best relationships have started off with a good solid friendship" .. In many (most?) Women's psyche good solid friendship first (google Ladder Theory) before a solid emotional and physical connection usually translates into a good platonic buddy. .. I'd say many (most?) men would agree. | |

lol... I think we can agree on that. But I also think it works both ways, both from a male and female perspective. It seems to fall in that same "nice guy"/ "nice girl" category many want to avoid.
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/17/2009 9:47:34 PM | | The "I'm not into guys who play games " cliches are typical for some of them. Then whats funny is they turn around and play hard to get. Umm yeah right. | |
|
| Dating cliches Posted: 9/18/2009 3:32:03 AM | | "I'll fill this in later." And this is supposed to intrigue us enough for us to go back again and have another look. Buh Bye!!!! | |
