Posted: 6/26/2009 1:20:39 PM | I went to the Bob Dylan concert at the river when he was here this past summer. I sat on a blanket on the ground, believe it or not, and was able to hoist myself up when it was all over.
Bob Dylan is OLD. Scratchier voice than ever. But you should have seen the crowd. I refer to them as the geriatric crowd. They were reliving their youth. A lady appearing 80+ years old was swishing her butt right in front of us.

When someone at my job kept calling me sir....
When I used to root for Vince Carter when I was younger, then thinking he was getting too old to put up 30 a night and be the Magic's go to option. Then realizing that I'm the same age as he is.
Asking if Devastator was in the new transformers movie and half the people didnt know what I was talking about, mind you, they saw the movie.
Knowing that the voice of Starscream and Cobra Commander was the same guy from the cartoons. And still, noone knew what I was talking about.
That the Fugees are now considered Pop and Metallica is considered Alternative.
That I still haven't bought an I POD. Or played WOW. But still think Final Fantasy is the greatest rpg ever played on nintendo....no, not ds, not gamecube, not wii, NINTENDO. | |

Posted: 8/29/2009 4:39:30 PM | A few months ago a 26 yo friend asked me to a concert. He kept observing how the kids were dressed and repeatedly said "I feel so old looking at them, don't you?" I was laughing hysterically by the time he said, "If I see one more plaid anything, I'm going to pewk on it. Freakin kids have no concept of individuality." I was just shy of 41. I had to remind him that.
I really have little memory for the "old days" of my generation unless reminded. I think because of the areas I lived in and the 20-50 years older or older people I normally associated with, I recall outhouses and carriages and 40's music best.
My husband is 23 and lived his whole life in Mexico until now. He's always amazed at my stories like I'm an ancient grandparent from the old country like someone previous said.
Do I feel old? He often tells me that my friends are older than me, they look older, they are boring -none over 30. I explained to him that after my stroke I realized that I had been the mature responsible adult of the family my whole life. It's my turn to be a kid. He's the adult in our relationship. Thank God, one of us needs to be and I've forgotten how. | |

I said something about the video (remeber the blond in the blue bikini, Yup me too)
and a girl (she was 22 ) said no i never seen the video...i did some quick math and she would have been 2 years old when the video came out. I sighed and found my self along with few others at the grown up table. 
still beats the alternative though | |

And, yeah, the ubiquitous "sir" at the gym or checkout line. Makes me want to kick the s--t out of somebody, but that wouldn't make any difference--I AM getting older. Yes, it is depressing. Even though I can run circles around a lot of beer-guzzling slug guys half my age, the fact is...I LOOK older. | |

Your teenage daughter is practicing styling your hair in the latest fashion and she starts counting the silver ones and you remind her of what year it grew in while she was growing up...
Your teenager is going through the photo album and sees a photo of you in parachute pants, a mid drift shirt and fluffy, winged hair..and she asks 'what are you wearing? and states 'you look like a deformed alien from another planet mom, Did you actually have dates back then?'.
Your teenager sees your prom picture and starts laughing hysterically at the dress you were so proud of wearing that night....
Your teenager (while snooping in your hope chest) finds several old 8-tracks of classic rock bands and asks 'what is this thing and how does it work?' Trying to explain that one is still a mystery to her.
Your teenager (views a photo of you by a car ) an asks "what type of a car is an Iroc-2"?
She browses through your high school album and is constantly laughing an expressing how 'lame' that era was and how 'dorky' you were growing up....it is ironic how the fads recycle themselves..well, with the exception of 'parachute pants' lmao
