I do know Democrats that watch Fox News. For the same reason they watch Flava of Love. Shock value. I mean... it's 4 solid hours in the evening of one Archie Bunker in a suit after another. They even throw in an Edith (Colmes).
Don't get me wrong. Bill O'Reilly actually does get caught in moments of rational thought but he does manage to get back on track in time to call someone that doesn't agree with him un-American just before commercial.

The ceo or other high level producer who would have a hard time masking his intent or some low level graphics artist that wants their 15 minutes of infamy? Personally I would think the later or a mistake. First sentence in most stories would be how the SC gov tried to refuse Obama's stimulus package because that led to the story when he was unsuccessful. Anyone who would relate refusing money from Obama to a democrat isn't familiar with politics. Maybe I shouldn't say asinine, a little entertaining at least. We can all use the laugh. I only read a few of the comments below the story. Wow. They're worse than us !

Let try a video

Make sure to pause it before they break away.
Then compare the pictures.
Just another left wing trying to discredit the Fox news.
Edit This happened before.
A thread started on just a picture. I had to do with Fox News. Citations were asked for a link to the vedio and none could be provided. Later another person found the real story where the picture was taken from. It was all a hoax. The OP of that thread did applogize for the mistake.

Fox News "apologize[s]" for identifying Sanford as a Democrat, saying, "he is, of course, a Republican"

Now which source is being honest.....
Fox did an edit on the video after the fact.......

| Fox news does it again! Posted: 6/27/2009 9:46:33 AM | Then media matter should have put up the whole video not just some picture.
Either the picture was doctored or the video.
Where is a link to fox making this a apologize for this?
Like I said before. The left has doctored pictures to make it look bad for fox news.
Edit Okay I am wrong. I will admit that.
It would be better if the OP when posting things like this should do more research into the story. Provide the link you just posted. Not some picture.

Now that we've established that Fox did in fact put the D. Maybe you should apologize to Media Matters as well, considering you've now called both me and that organization a liar after failing to do the research yourself.
Now that's something I can believe in. Sounds typical liberal to me
<div class="quote">Trace Gallagher, of Fox News' "Live Desk", offered this on-air apology on Thursday afternoon:
"We just want to make a correction to something we put up on the screen during our coverage of the governor's press conference yesterday. We briefly identified Governor Sanford as a Democrat. He is, of course, a Republican and we apologize for getting it wrong."
Yes, typical liberal, being correct.

| Fox news does it again! Posted: 6/28/2009 8:19:23 AM | I think this post highlights the biggest problem with our political system and the voters in this country, we are far to concerned about D & R's... Look at the people, not the affiliation! Sanford is a dirt-bag for his actions just as Clinton and several members of BOTH partys are. Both parties are leading us down the same path and have the same agenda, with different approaches. Bush was a spending, government bloating fool just as Obama is. Neither is doing the people's business any longer and haven't for decades! I found the program to be very interesting and loved that the private insurance business and the AMA representatives were so worried about competition from the public sector. It indictes to me that they don't think they can compete... How does a private company compete with an entity that has no concerns about profit and loss? Go ahead, bring up the post office! Recent history shows that inaction on the part of the Japanese government prolonged their economic woes. Are you kidding me? Japan's price controls, protectionist policies, and tariffs have prolonged their economic rebound! I am for more govenment involvement another good place for us to invest our money in would be the oil business, that way we could set the price of oil and protect our economy from the inflation that high oil prices cause. You are ignoring a world-wide oil market that our government would have NO control over. If they were to shield us from price jumps at the pump we would only be increasing our debt as world markets and production control the prices.
EarlzP, I don't often blast anyone individually unless they spew out continuosely stupid comments.... How you got to 62 and have remained so economically and politically misinformed is beyond comprehension. Then again, Jimmy Carter has been oh-so wrong for what, 80 years now?

I guess you base you conclusions on how well we have been doing since big business and the government of our country have been walking hand in hand. I guess I base mine on who I think will best represent the needs of the middle class and since I think that we the people are the government then it only makes sense to me that we will make the decisions that will benefit the majority of our citizen's, apparently you think that we need corporate CEO's running our country and still hold that if giving the opportunity they will start to re-invest in our country, I think they have no intentions of making the investments in our country that will produce the manufacturing base and employment we need to save our economy.
I see no reason that our government should not use our tax money to create descent paying employment opportunities for Americans if that means creating public run businesses then so be it we certainly have the skills and people who can do it.
So now that you have labeled me as stupid tell me your ideas of how we can create the employment opportunities needed to turn our economy around, it's easy to criticize not so easy to come up with NEW ideas on how to save our economy. Trickle down trickled out, what's your solution?
|
| Fox news does it again! Posted: 6/28/2009 3:30:03 PM | How much of our tax money does it take to create 1 job? Many of the jobs "created or saved" by the "stimulous package" have cost the taxpayer 5 times what the salary has been. So, a $50K a year job costs us $200K to create? How long will that work?? If the government would get out of the business of business we would be far better off and would be the economic monster we used to be. Doubt me? Let's look at government involvement in business over the last 50 years. Let's start with our corporate income tax which is the 2nd highest in the industrialized world, and in some states the highest in the world. Ever wonder who pays those taxes? YOU DO!!! Let's take a product, say an F-150 for example since the automakers are all over the news of late, and see what it costs you in taxes. Every part from a supplier has a corporate tax paid on it, every single part. If those corporate taxes, all of which are paid for by YOU the consumer, were to be eliminated the $20K truck would be $15K? Do you think that Ford could sell more trucks at a 25% cheaper price? Hell yes they would! Now, follow me here, if their were no taxes being charged to Ford their wouldn't be much reason for them to lobby politicians beyond regulation, right? So... Let's get rid of CAFE, EPA, NHTSA and other regulations! Does that sound irresponsible to you? Not really, and here's why... CAFE is just a means of taxation, nothing more. The EPA regulations since 1975 have been superfluous, and the NHTSA is only a regulator agency that really does nothing either. Today's consumer is far more aware of the issues all of these agencies regulate and have enough information provided by media sources like Consumer Reports that the need for these agencies no longer exists. If you feel that strongly that they should exist why not make them small boards that meet twice a year to review standards, not a full time beaurocracy, and enforce their regulations through existing law enforcement. No regulations means no lobbying and no corporate influence on politics. What else does that mean? Their would be no election money from big-business for the incumbents to protect their power structure so you can bet this will never come to pass. Meanwhile, their is something sick going on when the government makes $1.25 on a product that the manufacturer, who's invested millions or billions to produce that product, and the manufacturer only makes .20... What am I talking about? Cigarettes. Well, since they are an "evil industry" let's go back to Ford.. Ford makes about $1,ooo on every F-150 it makes, the government makes about $5,000... Let's try gas stations - they make 2-3 cents on every gallon of gas sold, the federal government makes 40 cents, before local and state taxes. The actual oil companies make less than 10% on every gallon sold, the government still makes more! You think Exxon-Mobil should be blasted for making a $400M profit last year? How about the government making almost a BILLION off of their sales? YOU paid that, not Exxon-Mobil... Your assertion that government is the solution is patently wrong and has been proven to be wrong everywhere it's been tried. Keynesian economics has never worked and the European countries that have embraced them in the past 50 years have realised how poorly their economies have performed under them. Inflation, staggering unemployment, and sluggish economic growth are the results every single time these ideas are implimented. If you think corporate CEO's don't invest in our country let me ask you who has paid your income of the years? Who built the plant your car was built in? When a company makes money it reinvests it so that it can make more money and the single biggest expense for companies is labor... Jobs for the common folk like us... What you see in our economic situation is the clearest example of "trickle-down" economics as it works in the opposite way too! Also, I didn't label you stupid, just your comments. I called you misguided. Pay attention to what people actually write and say and perhaps you will gain a stronger understanding of many of the things that seem to escape you! | |

Let's start with our corporate income tax which is the 2nd highest in the industrialized world,
Corp taxes too high in US?????????
US corp tax rates may be high........ However in real taxes paid they are the lowest.
In the 1950's corp tax contributed 1/3 of the US income, today less than 12%.
Where does the income come from? Where was the burden shifted to?
Payroll taxes, Middle class ..........
http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/briefing-book/background/numbers/revenue.cfm
Revenue from the corporate income tax fell from between 5 and 6 percent of GDP in the early 1950s to 2.1 percent of GDP in 2008.
Excise taxes fell steadily throughout the same period, from nearly 3 percent of GDP in 1950 to 0.5 percent in recent years.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Two-thirds of U.S. corporations paid no federal income taxes between 1998 and 2005, according to a new report from Congress. The study by the Government Accountability Office, expected to be released Tuesday, said about 68 percent of foreign companies doing business in the U.S. avoided corporate taxes over the same period.
Collectively, the companies reported trillions of dollars in sales, according to GAO’s estimate.
More than 38,000 foreign corporations had no tax liability in 2005 and 1.2 million U.S. companies paid no income tax, the GAO said. Combined, the companies had $2.5 trillion in sales. About 25 percent of the U.S. corporations not paying corporate taxes were considered large corporations, meaning they had at least $250 million in assets or $50 million in receipts.

Yes and lets let FDA, USDA......... and the FDIC, SEC meet once a year for lunch.
We could always appoint someone like that Peanut Butter guy to insure Food quality...
And lets get rid of that one federal employee checking out all the toys imported into the US...
You think Exxon-Mobil should be blasted for making a $400M profit last year?
Exxon's profit for the year came to $4.6 million an hour.
Exxon still managed to set a record as the most-profitable U.S. corporation. It earned $45.2 billion in 2008, up from $40.6 billion in 2007. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/30/business/worldbusiness/30iht-oil.4.19816878.html
How about 45 Thousand Millions not 400.........
$400,000,000............$45,200,000,000
In 2007, Exxon Mobil bought 386 million shares of its common stock at a cost of $31.8 billion. About a tenth of that went into company pension and benefit plans; the rest went toward reducing the number of shares outstanding.
Not reflected in the profit statement is stock repurchased... This $31.8 billion is not profit...
If you had the same income. Your profit would be $ 76.3 BILLION Your equity payment on your house would be taxable.
Corp taxes paid about 12%.
You would allow the Corporations to no pay for any of the commons. Shift the expense to the Middle class.
Labor is not the greatest expense.
In Auto's it is about 5-9%
You really want to cut Gov % in GDP, shut down a few military systems.
Congress is going to order several hundred $400 million dollar fighters, F 22, that no one wants.....
How about a bomber that costs over a BILLION dollars a copy, B-1........
How many jobs did that create? How much for each?
To what purpose? A subsonic Billion Dollar Bill..........
|
| Fox news does it again! Posted: 6/28/2009 7:10:50 PM | I'm not sure of where you get your info but United States auto manufacturing labor costs for the "big 3" are about 21% of their annual operating expenses when you include salaries, pensions, and benefits...
In Auto's it is about 5-9% As for Exxon, I did misquote the profit statement - it was a quarterly from 2006. Regardless of the stock repurchase (what's wrong with that?) the 12% is still money the TAXPAYERS paid, NOT EXXON!!! Why don't you get it? ALL of the taxes are ultimately paid by individual taxpayers!

The major networks are controlled for the most part by what some know as the military industrial complex. It is the concept that Eisenhower warned the nation against as he was leaving office. It is the concept that the US will eventually center its whole economic prosperity around a growing, lucrative defense industry. You're absolutely right!!! MSNBC, NBC, and CNBC - all owned by GE... The largest supplier military aircraft engines, radar system components, and the 3rd largest supplier to the DOD... What else does GE manufacture? They are the worlds largest suppliers of wind-turbines and the company that basically wrote the energy bill passed last Friday... Not that they would do anything to promote their business agenda, right? That kind of explains all of the "green week" nonsense they did a while back...

As opposed to their agenda of lobbying/helping the US military to have some of the most effective national defense equipment "nonsense"? I think you missed the point of my response... I was referring to their lobbying for the "clean energy" bill that was voted on last Friday, the one nobody read! Fact is, they wrote the majority of the bill and it will benefit them the most, kind of an unfair competitive advantage... That's what I was referring too when I spoke of the "green-week" nonsense and that MSNBC, CNBC, and NBC news have become little more than propaganda tools for GE to promote this self-serving legislation...
|
| Fox news does it again! Posted: 6/29/2009 8:14:20 PM | | ^^^ I know exactly what you were saying. The idea that the expenditure on military defense spending is anywhere in the same reason is laughable. The United sates does not spend more than the next few nations combined on environmental protection after all.
It's also amusing when people claim that these groups have a liberal anti war bias out of one side of their mouth, then talk about them having shares owned by a defense contractor with a history of donating to George W.
Well internal consistency was never a strong suit with Fox news watchers.
