I never really thought that the less you wear the cooler you are. Outside in the heat, I find I stay cooler in looser clothing, not tighter, shorter clothing.

I see many woman jogging or running in shorter shorts, but I always assumed short shorts, and shorter shorts were more for the girl who liked shorter untanned places.

Of course white tail flashes in the dark are the type of "dear" in the headlights that I would honestly appreciate.

It depends. If I'm going to work a loose skirt and sleeveless top is about as cool as I can get, I can't go to work without a bra on or anything too high above the knee (well, I could but I wouldn't), but going out in the sun to walk the dog it feels cooler with more skin exposed. Pants that are long and too loose only hold in heat. With a hot flash, anything I can do to get air on the skin helps. I have my own office so sometimes I lift my shirt up just to help cool off. I know, TMI, but he asked.

I'm actually used to freezing all the time, because offices and stores are so cold. I've had problems with my knees turning purple and my feet being so cold I brought socks to work and put them on, and always keep a sweater at work. Living in Florida, most women don't wear hose anymore, or even closed shoes, mostly straps or slip-ons. I closed all the vents in my office because I'm usually too cold. Then you go outside and it's like a sauna.

I can honestly say I have never experienced swimming totally nude but it does hold a certain appeal

Skinny dipping does lose some of its appeal when you have to break the ice first in order to dive in.

Oh my gosh... if you ever have any chance to do it, do not hesitate!
Well, let me change that... if you ever have any non-threatening chance to do it, do not hesitate!

Non-threatening meaning....no males present haha . Now that wouldn't be any fun.

Use screeching brakes, not just hesitation, if someone you dislike is in the water slobbering and rubbing his crotch, saying "yeah baby, take it off and jump on in".

I can actually visualize someone I know saying that

The weatherman came on this morning with a bit of humor, yesterday in Pheonix Az it was 113* with a heat index (feels like) of 102* while in my town in Tx, it was 106* with a heat index of 118*

I wear short running shorts in the mornings when I go running. When I'm just hanging out in warm weather I find a skirt (approx 3-4" above the knees) is much cooler than shorts (maybe better air circulation). I live on the beach on the north shore of Boston and there is usually some breeze coming off the water. Having lived in the south much of my adult life and only moving here two years ago, I don't think 85-95 degrees is hot. It has been "crappy rainny" much of this summer; can't wait til this weather pattern changes.

Skiiny dipping is indeed lovely; cooling and even sensual, with the right person. Have a group of friends who raft up in an intracaostal lake and indulge, too, but usually better to do it at night; got caught au natural when a floatilla of boy scouts in kayaks appeared. Suits out of reach on the dive platform and of course they all paddled close to check out the cool boat. Jump started a couple of them into pubrty, me thinks.

I agree Ginny, shorts never go out of style in Florida. Especially if you're down in the Keys where most activities are outdoors.

I've never been one to worry about what's in style. I get dressed decent for work Monday thru Friday. Today I'm wearing a sleeveless dress. On weekends I'm in and out with the dog or going to buy groceries, hosing off the patio, etc. Shorts and cami are very normal and casual Florida daywear, regardless of size it seems, and don't forget the flip-flops. At night I change into something "nicer" if I'm going out, otherwise I stay comfy and as cool as possible.

vvvvv--That's true Pazoo, but you don't get as much sun on your legs. I guess it's what you get used to also. With a sundress, unless it's a cami with built-in bra, you have to wear a bra, which I hate when it's hot, so the built-ins take care of that.

I live in a semi-tropical climate on a golf course. As long as people can swing a club, they wear shorts.

If I'm running around town, I have a tendency to wear washable, cool, cotton sundresses. The air circulates better under the skirt, and no waistband to constrict you. Plus, I don't have to wash two pieces of clothing.

I keep bottles of water in freezer.. grab one when I go out. Stick it in a 'wrap around'.

I take gel-pack style freezer packs and tuck them into the back of my shorts at the base of my back when I am out walking, etc. On longer walks, I use a small frozen bottle of water and also carry one with me.
Use a wet bandana tied around the neck and always wear a cap/hat.

I have land and when I am out on it I wear a bikini and get in and out of the water a lot-
keep my hair wet and put it up with a claw, etc. to stay cool- whatever works.
Stay hydrated.

In public, I wear shorts and spaghetti- strap tops, tanks, etc.
I'm in N. Central TX and we were at 106 two days ago......

Had some fun today, brought my camera to work and took some pics of my office and someone took a few of me too. I'm going to try and get one of me with Plenty of Fish on my computer screen although it may be too close. Got it - too funny.

i got into one of the top usa business schools at age 22 wearing short-shorts, fishnet stockings and a pair of ugly old hiking boots to my interview. the dean of admissions wanted to shake up the school before he left with a "psych major! needless to say, "mission accomplished". later on when i started my own company, i hired them all for the detail work, while i wheeled and dealed and thought out the big picture. sometimes hot pants can be deceiving.

HOWEVER, all that being said on behalf of the more youthful bodies, in that outfit nowadays, they'd have to commit me to a different kind of institution! however, ask me after the next twenty pounds come off. maybe the hot pants without the fishnets? i did wear a short black skirt in the spring, with a purple top and matching tights though. actually got complements. it's those floppy bits higher up, not sure what to do with!?* anyone else here lost weight? does that eventually go away?!*

i do best in tight absorbent biking capris and an absorbant tea shirt --sleeveless or short leaved and low cut. in my house, my downstairs feels like air conditioning and my upstairs like an oven. my street is shady but within just a few blocks the sun is out at the beach. the sun can enter from above but not sidewise where i live. the creek also cools us down.

sometimes it gets overcast here, which is what i prefer. i used to love the sun, but after the lymes it gets to be a bit much. i go for the early mornings or the late afternoons to take my beach walks.

ps as you age check not only t3 and t4, but also for hashimoto's. the thyroid regulates your body heat and with hormonal changes elsewhere, the balance can make you hot. never got hot flashes, but i assume natural horomone replacement helps with all that.

Believe me,Canada is not only known for cold weather. Here in Manitoba it can get over 100 degrees with high humidity in the summer. This year though we had a cold spring,so right now I'm spending a lot of my spare time enjoying the hot weather on my deck. Shorts and sleeveless shirts are my preferred dress in the summer, preferably made of light cotton. I tend to sweat heavily in hot weather. Working around the yard I like to wear a bandanna to keep the sweat out of my eyes.

A tip if you need to cool down quickly:it was mentioned to apply ice to your wrists, but what works even better is to place an ice pack in your armpit. That's because there are arteries or veins close to the surface of the skin there, and cooling them down sends cool blood circulating throughout your body. Anyone who has taken first-aid knows this is how to treat someone with heatstroke.

...I believe you...I'm from Manitoba. I remember those hot summer nights... and worse, trying to sleep with not so much as a breathe of cool air...I would flip my pillow hoping the other side would be cooler. I don't miss that.

Clever way for the OP to get men to "check out" her short shorts pic in her profile.

Hmmm I made reference to a pic on my profile, which the OP did not... only to clarify my post, not trying to "get more lookie-doos."

Why bother? People will look at your profile if they like your main pic and/or are curious about a posting anyway, no need to entice, although some do with their main pics, you know, the way they sprawl all over the beds and stuff.

How cool is that?

Anyway, some of us are OK with short shorts, some are not... maybe it depends on where you live and your attitude and how comfortable it makes you feel, and the main thing is how you feel in your short shorts, not what others think about it. ;)

No more short-shorts for me! I wear walking shorts and skirts in the summer to stay cool. I stay out of the sun in the heat of the day - don't need anything to encourage more hot flashes!

Darn it serenity, no hot flashes?? I would trade places with you in a heartbeat girl!! I have tried the natural remedies as I don't want to take hormone replacement, they help a little, but I still get just as many. Night times can be a biatch!! Guess I will have to stick with the head in the freezer trick to cool down! lol

We Canadians are a funny lot of people. In the summer we complain that it is too hot and the winter it is too cold and can't wait for the summertime.
As I always say never complain about the heat because winter is right around the corner.....as for me I love the heat and humidity call me crazy but I LOVE IT
