| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 4:46:09 PM | | It's sad; he wasn't perfect but he sure made some contributions to the music and dance worlds. Plus he has (at least) 3 kids; I feel bad for them. Wonder if drugs were involved? Hate to think so but so many sudden deaths are drug related. | |

| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 4:46:38 PM | uhm.OceanSideView.......it's a thread about Michael Jackson people are going to be talking about him!
Doesn't mean we aren't concerned about North Korea.....but seeing as worrying about it isn't going to get me anywhere.... I clicked on this thread to NOT talk about North Korea.
and bunky.....at 50........it's not really that uncommon to have a heart attack and die. if he was 30.....then I'd consider drugs a possibility. Not saying he didn't use 'em......just not that much of a reach for it just to be about "age" and health.

I feel when someone passes that they should be remembered for the good they did in their life. I heard that Hitler helped an old lady across a busy street...

You have a point that deserves its own thread.
I heard that Hitler helped an old lady across a busy street... This wasn't called for. The street was NOT busy!

So make it your perogative to talk about or not talk about whatever you like, and i'll say whatever the heck I please on the subject as well.

| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 4:55:47 PM | His passing is a great loss to the music industry and his mourning will be equivalent to Elvis's death. I feel there will be mixed emotions because of his child molestation law suits, but I feel when someone passes that they should be remembered for the good they did in their life.
What gets me the most and is a perfect example of how the media rules our view of what is really going on in this world, is the line up of news stories for the day.....
Michael Jackson dies Farrah Fawcet dies Unfaithful Govenor and lastly.....North Korea threatens nuke attack if provoked by the U.S
UM HELLLLLLOOOO???? Gee i'm so sorry about the famous people dropping off the face of the earth but i'm a bit more concerned with the whole human race being fried at this moment....Does anyone see the insanity here???
Bingo!
Could be WWIII next weekend....but who cares, what will John and Kate do now?

| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 5:00:12 PM | | Thats the news media. For several years celebrity news has taken precedence over more newsworthy events and this is a perfect example. At any rate, there's one less chickenhawk on the loose, for now. | |

| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 5:01:16 PM | | Well as much as I liked his music up until the 90's, I have to say I"m not all that upset to see he's passed on. Right now they say a cardiac issue... I wonder if he didn't help that along somehow... The guy was awesome when he was normal - but all the crazy stuff he's done since then...well.... perhaps I'm cold hearted, but seeing that a pedo is now deceased...forgive me if I don't cry about it. | |

| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 5:05:02 PM | "I have a difficult time conjuring up sympathy for a child molester, though I do feel bad for his family."
This was my point and I totally agree...out of respect for his family I wouldn't have the cold heart to talk about his misgivings. Whether he did those molestings or not, he was still an icon that lead the way for many of our now music industry leaders. Let people bash him after a grieving period....that should be interesting.

| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 5:05:32 PM | | What's really sad about the whole situation is that I'd be willing to bet that whoever gets custody of these children will exploit them. Micheal always covered his babies faces whenever he went out, now whoever gets them will probably sell their pictures to different magazines and will fetch a pretty penny for it seeing as that no one has ever really seen these children. You can kind of see their faces through some of the cloth that they had over their faces in different pictures, but to my knowledge there is no actual clear-cut pictures of any of the kids anywhere. I have to say I can't blame him for covering their faces-if I was a celebrity I just might do the same because I would not want my child's picture plastered all over the Internet or in different magazines. | |

What a warped mind to compare MJ to Hitler. I'm sorry, but that was totally uncalled for and shows great lack of class or intelligence.

I get what you are saying and thanks for bringing attention to it that IS a real concern but this is a thread about the death of Michael Jackson... so maybe that should have one of it's own?

| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 5:34:32 PM | I don't think that its the loss of Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahon that I grieve as much but the loss of an era. They were all icons. I remember having the Farrah hair, twirling to "Girl, Close Your Eyes Let That Rhythm Get Into You" in highschool and keeping late night company with Ed MacMahon and his being able to sustain real time laughter even when Johnny's jokes' weren't funny.
Those were part of my youth ... gone.
Depressing, isn't it? All your childhood icons, ground to dust by the inexorable progress of time... soon, we'll join our heroes.
I didn't start feeling old until Johnny Cash died.
North Korea threatens nuke attack if provoked by the U.S
I wouldn't worry about North Korea. I wouldn't even think about it. North Korea is the international community equivalent of an angsty teenager throwing a temper tantrum. The Norks are fully aware that their army is thirty years obsolete, and that the 17,000 artillery pieces they have targeted at Seoul (their only bargaining chip) are in turn counter-targeted by American tactical nuclear warheads. They will threaten to annihilate America, but what you must remember, is that they are utterly incapable of damaging America in the slightest.
Any aggression by North Korea will be met with retaliation designed to remove their military power. America is not a foolish nation militarily - they have counter-battery fire and strategic/tactical options to remove the threat of North Korea in the span of 24 hours, should they become aggressive.
Seriously, don't worry about North Korea.

| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 5:55:58 PM | CNN is questioning if prescription drugs sparked his heart attack.
Well as much as I liked his music up until the 90's, I have to say I"m not all that upset to see he's passed on. This was just brought up on CNN as well because statements like this are hurtful to his family. He was still someone's father, brother, son, cousin, uncle, friend, etc.

MsMicki, No s.hit....As I did talk about MJ, however the whole point was in how his death takes precedence over a nuke threat.
Who said it takes precedence over a nuke threat? The media? They just tell us what they think we want to hear. I can make up my own mind on what's more important.
Is North Korea something worth discussing. Sure is. Go ahead and start a thread about it.
But as I said.....I clicked on this thread to discuss MJ. My perogative to try to keep the thread "on subject".

| breaking news!!....michael jackson haas died! Posted: 6/25/2009 6:19:39 PM | I never was a big Michael Jackson fan, except back in the early 70's when he and his brothers were making great pop music (A,B,C; Stop The Love You Save, I'll Be There) ... hey, when you're a kid you love pop! He will forever be mentioned in American pop culture discussions because he contributed to what we were listening to, what we wore, how we danced, what we watched on the brand new media ... cable television, etc. during the 70s and 80s. I feel for his family. It must be a terrible shock for them. R.I.P. Michael Jackson.
His death seems rather surreal to me.
Maybe he'll be teaching Ed and Farrah how to do the Moon Walk tonight.
