It is refreshing to read a thread where NONE of the posters ever cheated, drugged, got arrested, drove drunk, paid for sex/pornography. Omg! What was that loud noise? It seems to be glass shattering ... I went to work today and there were two groups. Those that mourned MJ and those that mourned those that mourned MJ. It would be nice to grieve without being condemned.

He was still the same person that changed the music industry. Do we discredit what he did for this so-called society he wasn't a perfect individual for? When it served their purpose certain people loved him. When it served their purpose certain people crucified him. This thread has the same bandwagons ... SSHorsey - I'm really not paying attention to who is posting what just reading the posts. I don't think I was calling you out - Ms. Goodie Two-Shoes! :)

He made a major impact in the music industry. His music is legendary and for that he will be missed. I can look back over my whole life and remember Michael's music throughout (not to mention all his different noses..haha). I remember being nine years old in third grade (attending an entirely "white" school in a small town in Missouri) around 1984 and being soooooooo proud of my MJ folders. And the following year, I remember bugging my mom til she bought me a How to Moonwalk hardback book from Scholastic. I remember arguing with my mom that the Thriller video on MTV (when they actually played music) was NOT too scary for me to watch. So she let me watch it and it freaked me the heck out! Too funny. His personal life was bizarre to say the least, but who can deny the musical inspiration that he encompassed? I was sad and shed a tear or two listening to his music and some commentaries today on the radio. Seems like the end of an era. Sniff...

Are you trying to compare drunk drivers, druggies and purchasers of porno to child molesters? Seems to me that the lowest forms of life in a society are murderers, rapists and child molesters.

He was still the same person that changed the music industry.

Great arguement for justifying child molestation.

When it served their purpose certain people crucified him. This thread has the same bandwagons

Hey, if your down with child molesters, don't let me kick you off your bandwagon. You need to remember what type of individual you are defending.

I want to back my accusations with this link.

As for "Child abuse hysteria", are you brain damaged?

Nope and even if I was , you've got that market cornered here anyway.

I particularly like how you equate cuddling to child-molestation. That's exactly the kind of hysteria I'm talking about but of course , you're set in your ways and no amount of reason will sway your opinion. We can only hope you're never asked to serve on a jury.

Funcuz,
Are you implying that forty year olds should be allowed to cuddle with teenage boys they aren't related to? In Michael's world...that's the greatest love a person can show a child.

<div class='quote'>We can only hope you're never asked to serve on a jury.
Don't tell me you were on the OJ jury. Some of us subscribe to the notion that...if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck..well...you know the rest.

Please access the link I provided above. You can discard the Rizzo interview if you'd like. But, please comprehend what the Sherriff, housekeeper, Neverland security guard and two accusers have to say.

While we are at it, let's acknowledge that Robert Blake wasn't convicted either, so when he and O.J. die one day, the same outpouring of love will sweep America.
Where would we be without Baretta?
Equally lame is the child-star pressure led to Jackson's molestation tendencies theory. According to that theory, we need to have 24 hour surveillance on Donny Osmond. Yes, I think Jackson was a child molester, and an unrepentant one at that, perfectly content to play the victim.
But because he was a music icon, this is to be overlooked? What are you people smoking? You are uniform here on the condemnation of "cheaters" ..."once a cheater, always a cheater" and yet you try to pooh-pooh CHILD MOLESTATION because someone can DANCE AND SING?
Where are YOUR values?
I also love the veiled threats about losing dates because one won't go along on the RIP
MJ bandwagon.
You think his death is surreal....I think his defenders are unreal.

"any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee" John Donne, 1624.
Good post. I don't know why people need to be extremely critical at this point, the man has just died. I don't either, however, see the reason for such admiration of him. Either extreme, to me, just doesn't make sense. He was a man, not the best of men, maybe a bad man if he hurt children. Definitely a very mixed up man. The images that touch my heart of him are of the child, singing and dancing his little heart out. Sad what he grew up to be, as a man. Though I have no interest in his kind of music, I accept that he was a very good musician and composer. But if you balance out everything, he was a very flawed man, as we all are, flawed, that is, to one extent or another. Which is why I like the quote from John Doone.

I'm shocked, but I'm not. He's looked frail for years. When you are out of shape and start 4 hours of rehearsals which are cardiovascularly intensive for the first time in 15 years, a heart attack is likely. Compounding the situation were his financial troubles and all of the legal issues that has plagued him. That stress had to be tremendous.

I'm not really an MJ fan but when they start playing his discography all over the place, it's truly amazing what great music he wrote. You can't help get up and dance around and feel happy.

I consider him THE innovator of music videos. Before that, it usually consisted of bands just playing in front of a camera. He comes along with thriller, bad, beat it, and billie jean and the music video became interesting to watch. They're almost short films.

What a dancer. Everything ALWAYS looked smooth and natural.Look at all the boy bands, pop groups, and hiphop icons. Most of them use choreographers and group dance to augment their music, just like MJ.

He deserves the title "the king of pop" because thriller has sold 100 million albums. Twice as many as the next album which is incredible. There will certainly be a greatest hits album out in a few years and I think he'll be right up there with The Beatles as far as best selling artists of all time. He will most certainly, like Elvis, be worth more dead than alive. What a shame.

RIP Michael

When MJ was in the Jackson 5 I would never admit I liked the group.. it was "bubble gum".... but when he reinvented in the 80's wow.... LOVED his music... you were lucky to watch MTV back then... but yeah... the other "stuff"... for me the jury is out on his guilt.... I see someone who's entire adulthood make no sense... so how can I make sense of his guilt or innocence.... I say RIP.... because I do truly believe he was a manchild as Paul McCartney referred to him...

Geez! You people that are damning MJ for no other reason than you THINK he molested children really disturb me.
MJ never admitted to molesting any children.
Is it possible that Michael really liked to just leave his adult life behind and just play? Play like a ten year old.
Did you know that kids that age will sleep in the same bed and it is not sexual?

because molesting children (Jackson admitted many times to taking them to bed to cuddle)

Could you please post a link to the actual video, audio or quote where MJ makes that statement.
Perhaps when it is in context it will not be misunderstood.

Why call the guy "mixed up" and "creepy"..?

Because he had fame and money? Because he had an inferiority complex and thought surgery would make things right for him?

Was he ever "convicted" of any crime?

Wealth and fame tends to turn the most normal people into what is known as the most eccentric.

Got Trance,

No , they didn't misunderstand it...to them there's only one way to interpret such a statement. The fact that Michael Jackson , of all people , never really had a childhood and might have yearned for it to the point of living in a fantasy world whereby he got to be a child....well , that's just what a pedophile would do. There is no room for facts or even principles of justice...it's all about their feelings and specifically the most primal ones. Guilty until proven innocent...that's how it goes with some folks and they won't let critical thinking cloud their judgement. After all , what would they have at all if not for their ability to judge others despite facts?

I believe he did say that boys had overnights and slept in his bed... geesh I have my little nephews and nieces sleeping with me when they spend the night... does it mean molestation? No.... I saw in a interview where he said he slept on the floor... while they slept in his bed.... it is so easy to take a piece of fact and a vulnerable guy who believes the best in people and has alot of money for someone to set up the perfect crime scene in a time where the public is worried about molestation.. but as with the 1993 case it settled out of court for millions and then the father didn't want to press it further... so what is to be believed? mmmmm

With OJ.... that man was guilty alright... no doubt in my mind.... and he got away with it until recently...

With all due respect, mom2beagle, I wouldn't leave my kids alone with you either.

And I'm going to make a wild guess here, but you're musical talent is pretty much non-existent when compared to a genius like Michael Jackson.

MJ never admitted to molesting any children.

Yeah, it's rare for rich people to confess. They rely on their lawyers. As in the plural form of lawyer.

Is it possible that Michael really liked to just leave his adult life behind and just play? Play like a ten year old.

Ok.What other wealthy musician has a petting zoo, full arcade, roller coasters and sleepovers that only young boys can attend? You and I both know that adult males don't typically invite young boys over for sleepovers.

Did you know that kids that age will sleep in the same bed and it is not sexual?

Did you know that forty year olds aren't kids?
Hypothetically speaking: It's okay for my kid to sleep in the same bed as your kid. (pending they're good friends of the same age and gender).
Is it okay with you that a forty year old man joins them?

The boy swore in a declaration filed in the civil suit against Jackson:

"After that, Michael Jackson masturbated me many times both with his hand and with his mouth… Michael Jackson told me that I should not tell anyone what happened. He said this was a secret."

That's just one of the damning comments made against Jackson back in 1993. There is more if you care to read.

I don't care to read any trash talk about Michael, so it's unlikely that I will.

I'll just hop in on the tail end of the thread to say that I'll always adore Michael Jackson because I grew up on his music. The Jackson Five's posters were hanging on my bedroom wall right next to...you guessed it, Donny Osmand's and the Patridge Family, David Cassidy, etc.

Michael Jackson symbolizes my youth in my mind, as does his tremendous music, talent, and wonderful child-like innocence. Michael Jackson was declared NOT GUILTY in a court of law; thus according to our constitutional rights, Michael Jackson is not guilty of any criminal offense, sexual or otherwise.

He has passed away, his family and those who love him are likely suffering and mourning, as are many of his loyal fans. I will remember him fondly and feel sorrow for a man who will always be a "young man," who suffered horrible abuse as a child, who knew no childhood, who had no idea what a beautiful person he really was inside and out, despite the non stop plastic surgery to fix whatever he inwardly felt was broken.

Bless you, Michael, wherever you are now. May you find peace.
