| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 7:01:44 AM | I felt more sad for Farrah Fawcett passing then I did for Michael Jackson. However, I will not take away from the music he created. He was the king of pop. Billy Jean be far is the greatest to me.
Sad of the route he took in regards to his private life. I will not watch all the media over coverage of this person known as Michael Jackson.
R.I.P Micahel Jackson.

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 7:39:19 AM | Yea it's too bad because I had a nice response written out to those who think he was a pedophile.
Pedophiles do what they do in private so as not to get caught. There is a whole lot of secrecy involved. Micheal didn't seem that arrogant of a person to think he could parade around like he did and not get caught.
Remember the first accuser was caught in between a custody battle and it was the father who made the allegations so he could get custory back. As for the second boy, his mom had consistently hounded the family for money and is why she put her son in that house in the first place. He was an ill kid. If Michael was guility and she put her son in that position, SHE should be the criminal as well.
As I stated it will be interesting to see if more kids who hung out with him come forward. All the celebrity children Nicole Richie, Mccauley Caulkin, emmanuel lewis said they never saw anything shady. Nor did any of the countless family and celebrity friends. The only one who ever said any against Micheal was Latoya and she's the real nutcase of the family.
I'm not saying Micheal wasn't strange...eccentric....whatever you would like to call it...but most creative geniuses have been. Take a child prodigy who was beaten by his father and made to be perfect (which he was) and you have a messed up adult. The isolation of fame can't help either. Joe Jackson made Michael in more ways than one.
BALBOA said in the other post that only someone who had been absued would get it....well I was abused for many years...and in my heart of hearts, I don't believe he was a pedophile.
As another poster said how would you want to be remembered at your funeral, for your faults, or your glories and contributions. Michael should be remembered for the musician, dancer, and creative genius that he was.
|
| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 8:32:09 AM | | Farewell Michael....your music touched millions and your extreme talent entertained the world. So sad you had such a troubled soul, but in the end you will be remembered by how you brought joy to so many with your gifts of music and dance. | |

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 10:19:58 AM | Very sad :-( I am a huge MJ fan and have always supported him. Was listening to my Number Ones album again today. "You Are Not Alone" rang a big bell and kind of hit home.
Y'all know he was acquitted right? I always knew he was innocent.
I have an original copy of his Thriller LP (bought it release week) but alas dont have a record player anymore. I was in Jr High at the time, and was a child of that era. It didnt matter who you were or what other music you liked, whenever he came out with something it was a "must have" . Kind of cool too how 26 years later, my son hears it for the first time (last Halloween) and keeps asking me to play it :)

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 11:47:56 AM | the original thread on MJ was closed and reasons being this was the earlier thread??? The other thread was posted four hours earlier. - Just alittle crazyII
POF members have the opportunity to blackball any comments made by other members that they don't like. Get enough negative responses and POOF! The whole thread is history. I was one of those from the previous thread who said that while MJ should be admired for his music, let's not forget that he couldn't care less about what the public felt. What makes him a great humanitarian? Cuz he recorded a few great songs that make you feel like dancing? Puh-leeze! You starry-eyed fans are just too precious! You people are part of the reason he got off in the first place. He was just too rich and popular to lock up! I guess some people value money and fame more than they do their own principles. He had to pay off the families with children that testified against him with hard evidence, for Pete's sake! (Don't you think it's a teeny tiny bit incriminating that they could describe his genitals!?) OK... Like I said before, I'm outta here. ON WITH THE PRAISE!! I don't want to get this thread erased too.
(Let's ask Paul McCartney about what a great humanitarian he is.)

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 1:10:28 PM | let's not forget that he couldn't care less about what the public felt. I totally disagree with this statement above. He cared very much how is image was. Yes he was a bit eccentric. And did many strange things, he was never charged as being a pedophile. 1000's of kids slept in Neverland. But only those that were after his money tried really hard to collect and not care that they would destroy his image. Go ahead and listen to the media BS. Hear the latest? They are freezing his body so later they can wake him up in the future.
Remember the first accuser was caught in between a custody battle and it was the father who made the allegations so he could get custody back. As for the second boy, his mom had consistently hounded the family for money and is why she put her son in that house in the first place.
He had to pay off the families with children that testified against him with hard evidence, for Pete's sake! (Don't you think it's a teeny tiny bit incriminating that they could describe his genitals!? Paleeeese are you kidding me. Though he was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993, the criminal investigation was closed due to lack of evidence and Jackson was not charged. In 2005, Jackson was tried and acquitted of further sexual abuse allegations and several other charges. Yes I knew they took photos, How embarrassing is that! Come on. How would you describe genitals? Banana with two acorns as a child? One eyed sea monster maybe? Want the whole scope of what actually happened? And not go by what the media wanted to sell you, any one can find the whole story on the web. Here I did the home work for you! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_child_sexual_abuse_accusations_against_Michael_Jackson
What makes him a great humanitarian? He broke down the racial barrier by being the first African American on MTV. Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his foundation, charity singles and support of 39 charities.

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 2:07:56 PM | | as a artist he was great his music touched alot of people its just to bad that he touched alot of young boys with things other then his music, not only did a great artist die but so did a child loving wack job. | |

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 3:00:32 PM | There's something very sad about this death. You have someone who was a natural talent yet striving to please the more his fans. It's quite reminiscent to me of the death of Elvis, actually. It seems that which such great stars have that they most cherish, their celebrity, they also fear, perhaps unfoundedly, to be ephemeral, and so they will resort to all sorts of things to prolong the elevation. The drugs, the operations, the costumes; it was all to maintain our interest. You might say in the end they made themselves a sacrifice to us. But life continues beyond the grave, and the love they so desperately craved on earth is surely given them now, freely to overflowing. | |

They identified birth marks there, wiseguy. How dare they embarass poor Michael! I guess these things don't matter. (Unless they happen to you and your family, of course! Then they would be a BIG deal!)
He broke down the racial barrier by being the first African American on MTV. Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his foundation, charity singles and support of 39 charities. - Just alittle bit crazy
MJ was an opportunist. I doubt if he went charging in and broke down barriers. The time was right and you guys wanted him to. I suppose you think he died $400 million in debt because he was such a awesome humanitarian. He was trying to rebuild his image. Anything anyone says isn't going to change his image for you guys.
Personally, I'll continue to enjoy his music, but if those disgusting charges were true, like I tend to think they were, I hope he isn't "Resting in Peace." I probably won't be here tomorrow, and THE PRAISE CAN CONTINUE!! Have a nice day!

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 4:39:06 PM | Los Angeles police are searching for Michael Jackson's personal physician today to question him after allegations that the star received a potentially fatal dose of the painkiller Demerol before his death. They towed the Doctor's BMW to see if anything in the car would help them in their investigation. At this time the can not find his doctor.
I doubt if he went charging in and broke down barriers.
No, he just used his talent and wrote songs to show the world not to be a racist, or a bigot, to help others, and to care about people. Listen to his words it does help.
I suppose you think he died $400 million in debt because he was such a awesome humanitarian. No, attorney fees and ridiculous spending would put anyone in debt.
Anything anyone says isn't going to change his image for you guys. What is your purpose to change a view on Michael? Think as you do? Hmmm, it could be called propaganda, manipulation, brain washing etc.. etc.. Unless there is a personal vendetta against MJ.
Hey if you like his music and think he is a pedophile that's your conclusion. Think as you want to. People do have their own opinions that do not have to be yours or mine. Some people form their opinions on the media, and some wait for some facts, and some just take sides before they even hear anything.

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 6:14:05 PM | I had to do this somewhere....
Michael Jackson was a talented artist, not a major one. What's the difference? It's the difference between Tom Jones and Elvis. Elvis changed pop music and the culture at large:Tom Jones has sold a lot of records. That's not a knock on Tom Jones or Michael, just a clarification.
To the charge that Michael "changed MTV" by "forcing" them to play his videos and thus brought down the color barrier.....er, a little perspective (since that claim is repeated unchallenged all the time). When MTV started it was designed as an AOR/new wave radio station on TV. If you were around then and cared at all, you knew that both formats had about zero black artists- just the same old Jimi Hendrix tracks. We'll just put aside the merits of that for now- that's the way the playlists were.
For the record, six months before "Thriller" came out I believe that MTV played the video for Gary U.S. Bonds "This Little Girl" in the summer of '82- which would make him the first African American on MTV. Suffice to say, most music by black artists did not fit MTV's format- before, during, and after "Thriller". Now, the same month "Thriller" came out Prince released "1999." And the video for the title track was on MTV (not at first, and not so much, but still) while there was no video for the truly awful "The Girl Is Mine". Shortly thereafter the video for "Billie Jean" came out. All things being equal, yes, if it were some other black artist that might not have been on MTV, so credit for Michael for coming out with a superior video (not always the case back then) and daring MTV not to ride his wave, so to speak. His next video would meet MTV halfway, the more rock-oriented "Beat It." He played a part- but it wasn't him and him alone.
Secondly, nobody seems to mention that The Eagles "Greatest Hits Vol. 1" has surpassed, as of a few years ago, "Thriller" as the "#1 selling album of all time." Look, I have my vinyl copy from 1983 AND a CD of the thing. But can at least one person say it? It's not a classic album. It's no "Sgt. Peppers", no "Dark Side Of The Moon", no "Josuha Tree". It's an album of 9 pop songs. Some of them are fantastic. Some of them are solid. Some of them stink- really. Listen to "The Lady In My Life" much lately? Now, those other three albums were all united by a theme or artistic vision, which makes them greater, in my book. Not simply 5 or 6 songs everyone liked.
Plus, to annoint yourself the "King Of Pop" - you DO know that was all his idea, right? Unlike Bruce Springsteen being called "The Boss", it was not only self-generated, it was imposed. Want Michael on your magazine cover? You must refer to him as the King of Pop. Want exclusive access to his video- call him the King of Pop. Talk about ego run amuck.
I won't even get to the tawdry stuff....musically, the "Bad" album provided only 2 really good songs, and everything after that- pffft. "Black and White" was okay for a minute, but if you never heard it again you wouldn't miss it. Sure, I'm told that he had a bunch of "hits" from the "Dangerous" album and afterwords, but I'd be damned if I could remember coming across any of them out in the world, save for "Smooth Criminal" now and again. Sorry, his music simply didn't matter as much.
It's sad when someone dies before the time, and I bet we're only starting to get the Elvis treatment, but let's keep the post-mortem hype to Michael Jackson being a really popular and successful artist.
|
| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 6:49:33 PM | Great man. Huge heart....incredible actually. King of Pop.....no question. Bigger than Elvis by a landslide. Elvis did NOTHING to change pop music. Elvis was a good talent but not really great at anything. 1 MJ album had more #1hits than Elvis and Tom Jones combined in their lifetimes. Elvis did nothing he didn't copy(not always well) from others. No artist has had the global appeal and acclaim of Michael Jackson....EVER! A master singer/songwriter/producer/dancer. A savy bussinessman. Shy by all accounts. Victimized by fame and opportunist. However, more than anything else Micheal left a legacy beyond great music and pheonomenal performances. He left a legacy of a touching loving spirit which impacted and touched millions if not billions of lives in a very special and positive ways. He fought hunger, AIDS, lupus, literacy, homelessness, cancer, cerebal palsey freedom and human rights to name a few through millions of dollars in donations and other efforts directly and indirectly. His song Man in the Mirror stands as a standard in the call to action to look beyond a box and answer the call of human kindness and dignity from being to being and to save our planet. His lyrics will inspire for ages.Man In the Mirror, Childhood, Leave Me Alone/Stop Doggin Me Around, Scream, They Don't Really Care About US, We are the World, Save The World, Black or White, are all insightful glimpses into his soul as well as social commentaries.
He changed the music industies. He not only was the 1st African American to make regular rotation on MTV he made MTV relevant. His video/mini movies Beat it and Thriller launched the craze as they became a must be home to view event, as became Bad and others. They set the tone and the bar for art and choriographed videos that later pop stars adapted. MTV existed before Thriller but its relevance wasn't nearly what it became AFTER the event of his video epics. The industry changed after that.
All reports are that his children are very well behaved, extremely intelligent, well read, extremely well balanced loving caring individuals. This is a great testiment to an excellent single father. Which says volumes about him as a great man. Popular or not, a great father is a great man. Much respect!

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 6:59:31 PM | it must not be as big as elvis because i never have rolled the tape recorders or maybe im just getting too old.
i still havent ran out and bought any michael jackson records, when lennon died i already had all of his.
i wonder if jackson has any lost music that will make it out to the public someday?

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 7:32:35 PM |
when lennon died i already had all of his.
bingo. same here.
i was in a dance company back in the '80s, and one of the choreographers used 'thriller' as music for his piece. i danced the role of a black cat in a haunted house. i heard that piece so many times throughout months of rehearsals that i never wanted to hear it again. in fact, i found all his music redundant and predictable, his voice grating and shrewish. it astounds me that anyone considers him a serious artist.
i kept wishing he would shut up and dance. because he could dance fairly well. but his music?
when someone would put on a michael jackson album, i'd go home and listen to talking heads

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/26/2009 7:47:38 PM | Hello bry-fidelity:
I agree. I love Micheal Jackson. He made excellent music, dance and movies for so long. His creative artistry knew no limit. He was infinitely talented and gifted by God. His songs were of love, peace and strength. Listen to Stranger in Moscow, Blood on the Dance Floor, Will you be there, You rock my world, Cry, Earth Song, They don't really care about us, Heal the World, etc. Totally Awesome. The Moonwalker, Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean, Bad, King of Pop ( Rock ? ), Original, Perfectionist, Martial Art Dancer, Cool. These are the words that come to mind with MJ. He is the interesting one of Entertainment. I could go on all night about this beautiful Son of God. God Bless You King Micheal Jackson. Forever. All you fans of his need to stop talking trash about him like the papparatzi media does so well to the famous. They are low life scumbags and the funny thing is those papparatzi scumbags know they are scumbags. We fans of Micheal Jackson love all great performers. Michael Jackson was a fan of many other great performers and other great people. He loved Diana Ross, Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Diana, Paul McCartney, James Brown etc. So to all the negative gossip loving trash talking ids in the world, grow up. Because there is a funeral coming shortly for the Greatest Entertainer of all time in all the world.

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/27/2009 12:36:16 AM | Michael Jackson was a great person in his heart and in his actions.
Michael Jackson has done more for a lot of individuals and groups than most people here can attest. It's what fame did to him that ****ed him up, and those people that wanted his money.
Who cares, all that matters is that Michael Jackson, although physically gone, is still here in spirit and in his music. I was never one to just bust out Off The Wall on vinyl, but as Joni Mitchell once put it, 'You never know what you got 'til it's gone'. Sad but true.
I love you MJ. | |

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/27/2009 12:59:30 AM | These are my feelings on the MJ situation and celebrity in general!
Let's demystify the artist! People let's raise the bar! He was just a man! He was just a star!
He didn't create the pedestal You did! Then you knocked it down because he's human! He's just a man! He's just a star!
He left you with something bigger than him! He gave you his art, love, and hope! You only saw the grim! He's just a man! He's just a star!
He died alone and banished by the world he knew! He was accused of things of debatable truth! He's just a man! He's just a star!
He gave of himself like a man! He played your shining star! He sank into darkness like any man whose world turns on his heart! He's just a man! He's just a star!
He splits the sides in two but no side knows the truth! He should be respected for his art! That's what he did contribute! He's just a man! He's just a star!
MJ, Rest In Peace! Forget the world and sleep! As a man your creations seap into our creative conscious deep! He's just a man! He's just a star!

| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/27/2009 8:06:08 AM | I've been there seeing the Jackson 5 during the "Flip Wilson Show" on TV. That was the rage back in the 70's, Teenybopper bands like the Osmonds, Partridge Family, etc. Whatever. I admit that Michael, as well as some members of the Jackson Family, was/are talented. But I can't admire Michael's antics from doing his trademark "grabbing his crotch and spin" dance move (people would get arrested doing that in public) to suspending his child over a balcony railing to the child sleep overs. Its those morals and values that he has shown, loses my respect for him. To be honest, I don't have any feelings for the guy's death. | |
|
| Goodbye Michael Jackson.................. Posted: 6/27/2009 8:56:31 AM | I wanna keep this short and sweet. Michael did alot of crazy things in his life no doubt. Me for one dont believe the neverland accusations of child molestation. Like a previous poster said, 1000's of kids slept at neverland over the years and only 2 or 3 claim to be molested????? They were after his money, alls i can say is research before you make judgement. His biggest mistake was letting kids sleep in his bed (THAT DOES NOT MEAN HE MOLESTED THEM). Michael cared very much about the children of this world and went out of his way to help them. The make a wish foundation sent tons of kids to the neverland ranch because michael wanted to make a difference, He organized and co-wrote the We are the world that helped 1000's of kids in africa. he donated millions upon millions in donations, he spent millions in research for aids. The man did alot of things that noone wants to talk about. I personally respected the man more for what he did to help the kids of the world. He influenced many many artists of todays era and is comparable to john lennon in that respect and its sad to have him removed from this earth just before the london tour. I personally had tickets for a concert in late july.
R.I.P. MICHAEL JACKSON---SUCH A SAD THING TO SAY WAY TO SOON IN LIFE.
