My two cents:

Did I respect his song & dance? Yes, very talented. One of a kind. His stage presence was incredible.

Would I have let my kids sleep over at his house? Never! Even though he was never found guilty, I have my doubts. His "non-stage" presence was freakish! His surgeries made him look like a mixture between a skull & an alien....FREAKY!

To sum this up...

on-stage : awesome

off-stage : freak

I think his death will finally bring to light the reasons he was a screwed up as he was and the reason for his pedophilia, his father was an abusive **stard and still is. I will MJ the dignity of recalling the boy that he was rather than cursing the man he became. I won't, however, listen to his music nor any station that plays it.

I can't believe that with all these friends and family who knew him telling the world what kind of man he truly was, and not what the media and the leeches wanted you to think he was, that people can come in here and still make accusations.

After watching Paris tell the world how wonderful her father was...those of you who don't believe in Michael, or have nothing but negativity and evil things to say about a man you don't even know....you need to just shut up. I'm not a mean person...I try never to be rude, but honestly that was my thought as I heard her speak.

When people write me nasty emails here, I often quote from the movie ''Bambi'', when Thumper tells what his father always tells him...."If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all."....Those are truly words to live by.

Brooke Shields really moved me with her eulogy. Wonderful anecdotes about her friend. Usher was amazing too. Singing to Michael. Marlon's speech was so very touching.

But those few words from Paris touched my soul.

Thanks for saying that for those of us who feel it ..
I think it is a very sad thing that so many people choose to believe the worst about a man who did so much good in this world. He was found Not Guilty by the courts .. the people who falsely accused him got Exactly what they wanted - Money.
"They" are the ones who must now look at the 'person' in the mirror.

Michael's daughter Paris spoke of her Daddy today .. saying he was "the best daddy in the whole world" .. and she Loves him ..
My heart goes to his children, his brothers and sisters, his mom and dad .. his family .. his friends his fans .. the millions and millions who are a little sadder today for his passing .. and a little better for his being with 'us' in this world.

He made it a better place.

R.I.P. Michael ..

I heard two great quotes on CNN

one from a viewer email:
"for the hundreds of you who don't understand our love for Michael Jackson...we thank God for the millions who do."

and Cicely Tyson said of those who didn't want to acknowledge that he was one of the greatest entertainers of all time...simply don't want to see it...the refuse to see it....

Now I do not wish to make anyone upset.
But I see people and media blowing Michael to the skies now and when he was alive they all accused him of being a pedophile.
Of course there are many genuine people mourning him and the loss of such a talent but I can't help to get disgusted by the hypocrites

Normally, I would be right there on the same page with you. But I'm really trying to give people the benefit of the doubt for the time being, if for no other reason, out of respect for Michael. He was all about bringing people together and looking past barriers that most of us use to separate and segregate ourselves from each other everyday, and to those of us that truly were fans, I think that's probably the most honorable thing we can do right now.

After being one of the seemingly small handful of people that openly embraced their fanship of him for about the last 10 years of his life when it wasn't cool to like him, it's just nice to see people finally saying nice things about him again for a change.

I think for me the true test will be a year or two from now once things get back to normal. To see if people go back to their old ways or continue to remember the good parts of his life and legacy.

Carey's rendition of I'll Be There had me scurrying to Goggle for the chords and lyrics. Always good to have one classic for requests. Like Don Ho and Tiny Bubbles.

Soooo predictable for Al Sharpton to turn the subject to race on an occasion like this. All others were great and respectful. Magic Johnson had the best speech of all, and without all the uber emotion, some of which seemed kinda phony.

Some of the speakers did throw their typical agenda in there, I noticed that. But I didn't think any of it was necessarily distasteful.

Magic Johnson's speech was so awkward, it was funny. I kind of felt bad for the guy. The fried chicken part was funny, though.

I felt bad for Marlon, Brooke Shields, and especially Paris. Heavy stuff.

If it was at Staple's Center Magic was standing in the middle of his living room. He didn't look awkward to me at all.
I missed the Paris speach. Was that after We Are the World ?

Yes everyone came on stage at end for We are the World...and Heal the world....

Then everyone left and Jermaine spoke, then Marlon...all choked up spoke...he also spoke about a twin brother brandon, I assumed he died when they were babies or something...and asked Michael to give him a hug for him. powerful. Then as Janet was about to speak, Paris stepped in front of the microphone and spoke instead. I think it was a surprise for everyone.

Prince Michael looked very at ease...as if he were trying hard not to let anything get to him....12 yr old boys are like that....and Blanket looked very confused about things...It was paris who seemed to really get into the whole thing...and was most moved by it I believe or at least showed the most emotion.

It's clear they belong with Jackson's family. Not Debbie Rowe. I know she says that she is their real mother, but they look nothing like her. They do have an olive tone to their skin. It will be interesting to see what all comes out about parentage and things now. How many women will claim to be Blanket's mom. Wow this could get ugly. I hope it doesn't.

I haven't seen or heard his tribute yet. I'm certain some very nice things were said, most of which Michael deserved. By all means, let's give him his last day in the sun, the poor bugger.

Yet...

I don't think people's objections to his lifestyle would quite fall into that ol' "If you can't say anything nice..." catergory. It goes a little bit deeper than putting on a smiley face for the rest of the world. Some people (like myself) haven't enjoyed slinging mud at him, it's just that I believe if I'm required to follow the rules, he should have too. It's too bad things didn't go the way he wanted them to as a child, but he should have cut his losses and worked through them. (You know, like the rest of us with problem childhoods.) Maybe Michael forgot that hurting our children hurts us all. (And donating $1,000,000 to the "Little People and Their Children Fund" isn't enough.)

Anyway, it's over now.

THREE CHEERS FOR MICHAEL JACKSON'S MUSIC! It was awesome. Hopefully, I'll be able to hear one of his songs again without being reminded how society's rules only apply to working class mutts like me.

Said it once and will say it again.
How people who do not know Michael and only know him from the press stories....can even sit and watch countless people who did know michael, who can listen to countless children now grown up all talk about what a wonderful person he was. How he never touched them, nor harmed them in ANY way....and still sling the mud

See this goes back to what Cicely said. You won't acknowledge things, because you refuse to.

You have latched onto 2 children who claimed he molested them (never accused of rape which you are fond of saying he committed) . One who was coerced by a father seeking custody. Where police went in and found NO evidence and therefore dropped all charges The second kid, who's mother had a history of suing others, and asking other celebrities for money. Again taken to court and nothing proven at all. Found not guilty.
So you have all these other kids speaking up saying they were not victimized and they had a wonderful time with michael and loved him dearly up against two kids who say they were molested (with no evidence to support it) And who do you choose to believe????

Believe it or not as a mother I can say NO amount of money could pay me off to allow a child of mine to be molested and there is no way in hell he was paying off mothers to allow him to sleep with their children...not when they could make more money suing the hell out of him for it instead.

You should try thinking logically and sensibly. Because nothing you say makes sense. You're just making accusations that have been proven to be unfounded and untrue by police and courts of law.

I don't think Stevie Wonder has it anymore although I'm sure he was duely choked up, but I've noticed him slipping before today.
Mayer was great. I wish they would have let him play that song SOLO all the way through, it would have been a lot better. Sometimes less is more.

I did get you confused with the other guy slinging insults and calling Michael a rapist, gay and what not.

But accusations while slightly different are similar in that they were all unfounded and proven to be false.

Stevie was great the Democratic national convention. It may have been the stress and the loss of his greast friend. I felt Mariah was a bit off as well.

People acted as though they were surprised at her rendition of ''I'll be there'' but she released that as a single of her own many years ago.

Usher really got to me...There is so much of Michael in him. And Jennifer Hudson looked beautiful. She sang one of my favorite Michael songs of all time. AFter her own personal tragedy it was great to see her perform so well.

I don't want to argue with you, raiderfan18. Don't forget that the same laws that give you the right to have your own opinion entitle me to have my own too. I hope that you're not saying that the courts have never been wrong, because if you believe that, you're definitely not going to think they made the wrong decision in M.J.'s case. (Or O.J. for that matter!)

HEY, I've said it before...

If there's anyone out there who isn't swept away with the rapture that is Michael Jackson, and want to know the rest of the story, the information's out there. Check it out. Pay no mind to the OPINIONS of guys like me and raiderfan18 and get the facts. Then make up your own mind. Good luck and God bless America!

Whew! Now that I've read all your glowing reviews, I have a feeling watching the actual ceremony is going to be pretty anticlimactic.

teenie-boopers are now grandparents.mj was mainly pop and soul thats a large mass quanity of people.

i saw a portion of it today, it looked as if mariah carey was more worried about her hair falling out of place than singing.

i could make a comment on a few other things, but only nice things that i know of can be said about mj.i cannot speculate on what somebody else says.

overall it was a good tame service i think micheal jackson would be proud.

I haven't been able to watch it yet cause it didn't tape and I was in school, but have seen a few segments and it brought me to tears! Especially Paris!

I think what some people don't remember to realize is that Michael loved kids and was like a big kid, and his Neverland ranch is like the funnest place for kids and big kids, or people who want to find that spirit of childlike wonder again.

How do I know? I was there.

I went on the trains, the rides, the movie theater, ice cream for free at every train station, animals laying out in the sun, I saw that all in 2003. Yes, naysayers, not just young boys get to go there, he opened his doors to everyone. And I'm not a fanatic jackson fan, actually. But I was invited to.

It irks me to no end how people are so "sure" he's guilty, when if he weren't so eccentric and yet a big star and you heard all the stories of people that work for stars and their schemes to get money, you would totally be defending him. Yet, because he acted "childlike" which is often construed as weird, since most of us get hardened and more bitter as life goes on, he obviusly must be as sinister as our "grown-up" thoughts are.

What I saw at Neverland was someone who had a very strong desire to make kids happy, kids that often get overlooked. How many times have you made a kid in a wheelchair smile? Gone to visit kids in a hospital? Hmmm...not so many hands up, me thinks. The thing is, if you had even an inkling of what Neverland is like, you would want to do a sleepover with michael too, who would even sleep anyway? You need to see this place. I can't imagine those kids did anything but watch movies with Michael and eat things they normally don't get to.lol I did, having ice cream there even though I am diabetic, you can't help yourself.

As I said in another thread, I was in his theater just watching some of his old concerts they had put on, when I randomly turned around and saw in the back by the projection area, a place with hospital beds, so NO ONE could miss out on a movie showing there, that's the sign of caring beyond just throwing some money at an organization.

And this is all coming from a huge Madonna fan, so I am not a blind sheep, but someone who observed and now wants people to know you are disgracing a good man. Or at the very least think before you speak and like another person we lost, Farrah Fawcett, said, "how are you? what are you doing with your life?"

So yes, OP, well said, he inspired some of us through his music and his deeds. It is not required that you all be inspired, but just think before you speak ill on a forum to share the memories.

I'm so glad you told your story. I'm hearing other stories by kids who also stayed with Michael and said nothing bad ever happened at Neverland.

As for Balboa. I never said the criminal courts were ever wrong. But given the ''facts'' as I have read them, the jury was right in Michael's one case that made it to criminal court.

The reason the majority of pedophiles are successful at what they do, is they don't draw attention to themselves, they act as normal everyday people. They fit well into society so no one would ever suspect their abnormal behaviors. They also repeat their behaviors over and over...they have a sexual compulsion that doesn't just stop with one child.

Primetime Live is focusing on the kids tonight....interesting show. Never before seen home movies of micheal with the kids...gotta go finish watching.

I don't think I've seen such a sad moment as I have just barely seeing MJs daughter speak her peace and state in tears what a good father Michael was and how much she loved him! That was the realest, most pure moment in the memorial! I think that only the most jaded could have seen anything staged or insincere about that! If nothing else maybe this "freak" was a human! Who better to give that perspective than his own daughter. She came off as very brave, spoke with grace and in a line or two said more than what the whole memorial had. I think she truly lost a great father and she and as well as MJs other two children have suffered tenfold what the rest of the world has in this event. :( Peace!

A friend told me yesterday, that he finds it very funny that people would choose to believe the man to be a pervert and a pedophile, then lean the other way. People are so quick to forget that some people, like Michael Jackson, are genuinely kind people, that don't have an ounce of hate inside.

People tend to forget that many children are abused everyday, including the one's that were set up to go after Michael. (if you read the court hearings, you'de understand)

People also tend to forgot the thousands of sick and dying children that chose as their last wish to just be with him. In no way is he a monster, he just wanted to actually 'Help' people. He's raised thousands, if not Millions for the poor children of the world, and what do you do? You sit their and try to find a weak spot in him. If it wasn't for CNN, The Enquirer and most especially, the American people, Michael Jackson would not have been driven out of the country, and eventually, to death.

He was the biggest superstar in the world, and people wanted to make a quick buck out of it. It's not just the kid's parents, but man, people would sue the guy for anything if they could.

I caught some of the highlights of the MJ tribute last night and I have to admit, it was touching. It certainly was brave of his daughter to come forward and speak the way she did. (Considering the great lengths Michael took to shield his children's identity from the public.) Now that it’s over, hopefully people can get back to less dramatic activities.

While it probably isn’t, it sure appears as if raiderfan18 doesn’t want people to get the facts surrounding his court case. Maybe she's afraid they might come to the “wrong conclusion.” As I've mentioned before, there are debatable points on both sides of this issue and the people that are 100% certain of MJ’s innocence are jumping to conclusions every bit as much as the people that think he’s guilty. Personally, I refuse to accept that everyone in that court room was lying except poor Michael and if he was acquitted, he MUST be innocent. There's too much evidence that points to the contrary.

That's me. Take it or leave it.

Oh, by the way, people who have an opinion that's different than your own are not necessarily "haters".

Honestly, i'm sick and tired of all this accusations they put on a great man. Like they say "if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones" Michael Jackson will be judged by God...Remember, God is the ONLY judge, not us. Just as how he will be judged, so will you. Instead of bashing the man, like his song states "look in the mirror". He's done so much good that most will never get to do. To all the judges & haters, one question....what good have you done? Have you gave to the poor & needy? The ones less foruntate than yourselfs? Before you judge, talk about your own self. People will think what they think....just remember YOU will be judged for what you stood for in life, so I'd worry about that. In my opinion, Michael Jackson was a great man, and more people should be as kind and caring. All he wanted was to make this world a better place. So for the ones who ar eglad that he is dead, just remember your time will come, and the time to stand up to God while he judges your life that you lived.
