DANCE AT THE RODEO LOUNGE JULY 17-09

I see that some have missed the whole point of the griping.
I was talking about the Rodeo wanting our business, but being an absolute greedy gut at the same time.
If I was an owner of a drinking establishment which was absolutely dead on Friday nights, and I had someone like POF wanting to fill the place. I would bend over backwards to ensure they had a good time, and were getting their moneys worth.
Which in turn would line my pockets.

Hey all.. Been a while since I posted, or attended any functions, however, I do still read, and wanted to comment on this one. Bear with me.

1 - re: the cover charge. To the best of my knowledge, the $7 cover charge is across the board now in any drinking establishment. I do know that Cheers/The Dome charge $7 cover on Friday and Saturday nights. However, if there is normally no cover charge at an establishment, then having an event there shouldn't cause a cover charge to be put in effect when the establishment is still open to the public, with the exception of that cover charge being put toward the expense of door prizes or what have you.

2 - re: complaints. It is human nature to complain whenever something isn't exactly how an individual thinks it should be done. This is conceived as being critical of the organizer, and therefore people should attempt to temper their complaints with disclaimers that those complaints are against the establishment, NOT the organizer. I've been involved with organizing a couple of events in the past for PoF get togethers, including the one that maple59 lost money on. It's true, he did lose money, as did a couple other people who helped pay for things. It's also true that 98% of those who attended that PoF event had an amazing time that we will never forget. There's a lot of work put into organizing an event, and proper credit should be given to those who go out of their way to do so.

3 - re: The Venue. If it needs to be changed, then those who feel that way should make suggestions as to where, and offer their time and energy to help organize the event. People who do the organizing will do so at a venue that they are comfortable with. For changes to take place, the regular organizers are required to step outside their comfort zone, so others would need to step up and help make them more comfortable. Someone mentioned the Casino lounge. I've never been there, so haven't a clue if it would be suitable. Lovevampy mentioned Michael's. There have been karaoke events there a number of times, the place seems to work well, for Karaoke at least. There was an event at the Lion's Head as well.

Just a few thoughts.

Chances are that I won't be getting involved in organizing, so I'll continue doing what I've always done. Attend those events that I enjoy the venue, and not attend those held where I don't enjoy the venue. It's easier that way, for me at least.

All valid points Tiana, but I think that those of us who can read, do understand that it was never a strike against the planner, but the establishment, IMO that is. :)

You may be right, Darlena, but I tend to never assume that everyone who views these forums can both read, and comprehend. It's been proven too many times that the two are not necessarily present in a single individual.

Has anyone ever been in to confrentation at rodeo with anyone else? you go to the dome or cheers, shoe shop, toothy moose, etc. etc... chances are somethings gonna happen between you and someone else. the rodeo believe it or not is by far one of the safest bars around hrm!! You will NOT find a better security staff, or promt service from bartender/waitress then at rodeo busy or not.... 7 dollars is a low low price to pay... money is money, hows that saying go, you can't put a price on love witch is what most of you guys are going out looking for..so for everyone crying about 7 dollars, what are you gonna do when the one you meet wants this or that? Not to mention the cheap prices at the bar, so it all sorta makes up for everything, then theres the door prices, maybe rodeo did buy them, maybe not. But they still went through the hassel to get them. I can bet you that the dome or someone wouldn't do such things.. I can't believe how imature some people can be over paying 7 dollars to get in to a safe bar. hell thats half the price of a pack of smokes, you may complain about that but you still pay it. alcohol keeps going up, you complain but you still pay it..same as gas and everything else... welcome to the real world... just my 2 cents... money ain't a thing if your having fun!!
